  1. Friend of mine asked me to ride dc with his club a couple of years back. I didn't and thankfully because it was an absolute disaster! he stronger riders went out fast and dropped half the team by Barrydale.. By Montague only the fastest three were together and finishd together. Then they moaned at everyone else because the team time was nearly 8 hours when the 6th man crossed the line.
  2. Great looking bike. If it looks right it generally is. When can I review one?
  3. Indeed and weight penalty over carbon rear triangle is nothing
  4. can't say that the fatbike trend ending sooner rather than later wasn't unpredictable
  5. You only got 6000 km out of those because they are weeeeell past their useful life. Any way ime crossmark feel fast thanks to low grip. They last longer than others due to hard rubber None of those traits are desirable to me in a choice of tyre.
  6. Yes you could in theory lace them to whatever hub you want. That's the beauty of them. You can get what you want
  7. Speak to William Keith at Williams BIke Shop, Somerset West. 021 851 0919 or contact South Industries directly
  8. well they based in Somerset West so may its just like South of where everyone builds their carbon rims
  9. Yes because having worked extensively with composites I know what I'm looking at. But hey, there's cheaper stuff out there that will make you happy
  10. I have held these rims and inspected thoroughly. They are far better built than the pyga wheels. The rims are enve league. They're stiffer laterally than almost any other similar carbon rim whilst retaining vertical compliance. If I had R22k I spend it on the south industries with Chris king hubs. No contest
  11. You only get cash back on the events they mark as eligible. So far as I can see its only 94.7 MTB Challenge 94.7 Cycle Tour Challenge Nissan trail seeker #5 Diamond Rush Stellenbosch Cycle Tour You can claim points against the other listed events nce you have completed them but only cash back on those listed as cash back at 25% or 50% that's how I understand it...which may be flawed
  12. Ran Michelin Wild Grip'R 2 on my bike for a while. Love the feedback on the trail, grip is excellent in the Dry. can be a bit tricky in the wet but that's mostly due to the wide spacing in the tread blocks. Silicium Gum-X compound is much improved over previous versions for wet conditions/ Love em. they're a bit weighty compared to Schwalbe and Geax (Vittoria) though. Edited: realised the name for the new compound is GUM-X no longer silicium (Which was the compound on the old Wildgripper)
  13. Check your bank account. They also send notification via sms. Other than that.... No
  14. Team vitality are now setting up ride captains to get its members together. Called them last week and they were holding first aid training for ride captains. Looks promising for next year.
  15. Black and orange. There's often adds in the bicycling depicting the kit
  16. Yes that's right. The practice and theory don't talk to each other
  17. I knew is was three something. Maybe the 000 were eyes looking back at me.
  18. yes I heard this as well. and according to a mate of mine who is in Club 100, it went messy fast. Vitality going it on their own sounds like a much better option.
  19. Why not bill them now to ensure commitment is there?
  20. Thanks, thats pretty decent. And this will be for the full suite of measuring points available for display i.e. none turned off?
  21. @travisza: Yes swopping pedals between bikes is much easier but depending on the crank you use these is pretty simple as well. @Iwan, Sure we can technical and carrying spare AAA's is an option but I don't understand why you don't want to entertain discussion. Its like you lay down the law in a review and only praise and adulation is acceptable? Discussion is not a reflection on your review but a desire to understand the product in more detail. Many electronics goods company's list the best achievable battery life. Some provide battery life based on only a specific set of data that is being measured at a low sample rate and others provide battery life based on the amount of data sampled per second. its like mobile phones, with all the useful apps running you only get half the advertised battery life. When one is considering dropping R20k on a power meter regret decisions is not an option. For me these are a nice option but they're not significantly cheaper than the LOOK system, but that system has pretty good battery life. Personally I don't like AAA's due to their lack of capacity and as you mentioned variability in that capacity hen new. CR2032's are pretty consistent and have good capacity and therefore life. Yes there's lots of choice out there but hence the point of discussion......to choose.
  22. at what sample rate is that battery life claimed?
