  15. Sorry, I only picked up this thread now - been too busy organizing a race. As you are a student, you can hopefully do some adding up: 800km jeep track with vehicle Route markers x385 Generators Portable Toilets Marshals Food for all officials Shall I go on with the list, or bore the rest of the riders with all the details. You are welcome to PM me for more intimate details.
  16. Friend of mine did the 32km MTB Argus and finished 3rd according to Racetec timing, but was not considered for a position prize because he did not start in the A group. So much for timed racing while nowhere on their rules and regulations page is mentioned that you will only be considered for a position prize if you start in the correct group. I will not ride such a race, thank you!
  17. Albertus, I wish you a speedy recovery. This year started off all wrong with lots of riders involved in accidents. I still have 50 days to go before I'm allowed back on my bike, with a friend still in hospital with a broken pelvis after an encounter with a dog. I hope and pray that it will get better from now on!
  18. This happened while still cruising to meet some friends early Sunday morning to go for a ride. Took a short cut across the church property on a cement paver path and slipped on a wet, mossy section doing 12km/h. Supplied some good entertainment for the early morning service worshipers as I was lying right in front of the main entrance of the church. The minister assured me on Monday that quite a few prayers were said for me at the service though, which I appreciate It also helps when your friends have the direct number to the guys at ER24 to get some really fast response. Now I am languishing in hospital waiting for the worst swelling to go down and watching for infection as it was a compound fracture while being hooked up to an IV bag with some nice antibiotics.

  24. I just wonder how the "people" that is striking will react if they were injured and is unable to receive medical help.
  25. My Magiclight has done its 2nd TB. Three of our team used Magiclights while the 4th member used a Bl... Needless to say, his battery died just before Suurbron after starting in the dark at Bergplaas. I generally get 8h from a charge using combination dim/bright. For the price, there is really nothing to compare it with.
