I went to pick up my bike at the airport yesterday afternoon, everything looks fine - no damage done. So today after class I come home and make ready to go for a ride, but as I pedal out the gate my back wheel unexpectedly falls out. Turns out my derailleur hanger somehow went loose, luckily nothing got damaged on the bike as I wasn't going very fast. Took it to the bike shop just now and they reckon the screws might have rattled out.

Let's hope not - I'll try my utter best to hang in there (well, hopefully I'll be doing more than just hanging at the back), but ja, I realise the route and the quality of the teams participating is gonna make it excruciatingly tough - I hope what doesn't kill me will only make me stronger See you guys down in the Cape soon. Can anybody tell me what the prologue's profile is like?

I believe Sauser is riding for Exel.

Spidey, I got it off the Giro's site, www.girodelcapo.co.za. Carinus, thanks for the list of teams - It looks like a really good line-up, by the way. Will David George also be riding for Harmony, or is it just Darren?

I see stage distances are: Prologue - 6km ITT Stage 1 - 129km Stage 2 - 120km Stage 3 - 128km Stage 4 - 5.5km ITT (Hill Climb) Stage 5 - 109km

Can anyone tell me exactly which teams will be lining up for this year's Giro del Capo? And well done to the organisition for three brilliant ideas - six man teams, the prologue and the best young african competition.

Well Skelmpie, dit is maar die effek wat die Suid-Afrikaanse pro scene het - Die ouens wat die races wen elke naweek weet wat dit vat om hier te wen en hulle gaan nie sommer meer doen as wat nodig is nie - hulle prioriteit is om iemand van hulle span eerste oor die lyn te kry, nie om na die tyd te kan se die race was hard of nie. Waarom sal MTN/Microsoft/Exel/Konica Minolta of whoever vir 100km lank hard ry as die result steeds dieselfde uitkom as hulle net hier en daar hard ry? Die jonger pro's ry darem meer agressief, maar dit help jou nie altyd om te wen nie. Elk geval, wie onthou teen volgende week wie die kormorant se KOM gewen het? Well done vir Dawid - Dit was brilliant, maar ja mense vra eerder wie het die race gewen as die hotspots... Dis baie makliker om saam met die voorste ouens te bly in die Suid-Afrikaanse eilte races as wat dit is in die Europese junior races (of atleast is dit hoe dit vir my gevoel het), maar dis steeds moeilik om te wen hier. In elk geval die Tekton juniors ry baie positief, hulle is nie bang om te attack nie en hulle race van voor af. Dit sal in hulle guns tel wanneer hulle oorsee gaan. Te min spanne is seker nie 'n goeie verskoning vir die stadige pace nie, maar dit is die main oorsaak.

I'm very glad to hear my buddy is okay I considered joining them on their ride this morning, but I still had to put a new chain on my bike, as my chain had broken on Sunday - Seems it was a little blessing in disguise. Hoop jy's gou weer terug op jou nuwe masjien Barend!

That's great, 'cause selling papers is their biggest concern, once something starts affecting their sales they'll think twice, and cancelling the ad is even better.

Just a suggestion, when you e-mail the newspapers, clearly mention to them that you and some of your reletaives/colleges are gona end your subscription to their paper immediately. This is the only thing they could ever care about.
