  1. "An Apartheid-era Springbok" - They just had to throw that in there
  2. I didn't know he was injured? Remember he was first choice during the CC last year, so at the start of super rugby lions supporters weren't sure if he would be first choice or Jantjies. Then Jantjies started and Bossie wasn't included at all. Vd Walt was flyhalf cover. He was only called up when both Jantjies and vd Walt got injured.
  3. Bossie played when the Lions demolished the Bulls. So yes he's still around and that game showed he's still right up there with Elton. I don't know why Ackers didn't rotate him and Elton this year, something must have happened behind the scenes..
  4. The word quota certainly isn't very PC in SA. But come on, let's be honest about it here. We know there has to be a certain number of players of colour in the team. So if a player is chosen because of his skin colour, what else should he be called? Then again, many players in the current bok team are not the best in their positions so they're all quotas, no matter their skin colour
  5. You can't blame quotas for the loss against Ireland. The only guys in that team that I would consider calling quotas are Kolisi and JPP. Beast deserves to be there, and so does Mvovo, Jantjies and Mapoe. Kolisi is good, but not the best (we have so many good loose forwards). JPP is a has been and is there purely on reputation and maybe demographics. However, Kolisi played pretty well (compared to the rest) on Saturday. JPP was crap as usual, but so whas the rest of the team. I put more blame on the so called experienced players in that team that just did not pitch up for the game. You mean FIKILE
  6. So the sounds coming from the bok camp this week indicates we'll see the same team again on Saturday, with M. Steyn on the bench. Eish. Talk about 1 step forward 2 steps back. I would have preferred anyone other than Steyn, even Brummer or one of the young WP flyhalves if AC doesn't want to risk April. Another guy people have forgotten about is Boshoff, who is already a bok and should fit in better with the bok's gameplan. Not sure why he was given the cold shoulder by the lions this super rugby season though. Unfortunately with the series now on the line I'm afraid the team will probably stay the same for the next 2 tests. Even if we win the Ellispark game, the 3rd test will be a decider so he won't make wholesale changes for that one. So guys like Julian, Combrinck, Jaco Kriel will most likely miss out, which would be a real shame. PSDT and WW did really well when they came one, so I would give both of them a start. Malherbe was piss poor so I would start Julian ahead of him, actually drop him from the match 23 and bring in Kitshoff on the bench. Jaco Kriel and WW has to start, so it's up to AC how he wants to mix his forwards with Kolisi and Duane in there too, although neither of them did much to deserve retaining their place. Flouw made in 55 minutes 1 turnover and 7 tackles. Duane 80 minutes 9 tackles, 2 missed, 2 knocks. Kolisi 80 minutes 6 tackles and 1 missed. Whiteley 25mins, 7 tackles. Got these stats from another forum, so don't quote me! Put Combrinck in at 14 and Jessie Kriel at 15. Then you have paige and M steyn on the bench (whoopee), and Willie (Willie reguit hardloop nie)
  7. No acknowledgement from strauss to the Irish for playing well. Not captain material...
  8. Pathetic boks! Absolutely shocking losing to Ireland for the first time on sa soil, when they were down 1 player for most of the game. I put a lot of blame on the captain who is clearly out of form and not the right leader for the boks. Eish, where to from here?
  9. Ok he went with your thinking.. ww at 7 and duane 8
  10. Mntboy we got our wish, duane and ww on at the same time! Let's see if AC went with my thinking of ww at 8 or yours..
  11. Thanks mntboy! Not a great game so far. Feel that first red was a little harsh, that yellow could rather be a red. Anyways, we should put them away in the 2nd half
  12. I do not have a messiah complex over WW. I merely think him at 8 with duane at 7 and kriel at 6 would make a potent combination. I don't have the time (or will) to go look up stats to prove my point that he is a good player. All I want is for him and others that deserve it to get a decent chance to prove themselves at international level. Let's see what AC and his "new" team can do this afternoon
  13. Mntboy, sorry but I'm going to disagree with you on that one. Yes duane has done well in the PAST. And he is still a damn good player, hence I would play him at 7. Ww has had no chance to prove himself at international level (thanks heyneke). He is a much more skilled player than duane, and a lot more physical than people give him credit for. His defence not so good? Bud, he had close to a 100% tackle success rate in super rugby last year, and this year probably isn't too far off either. Anyways, everyone will have different opinions and favourite players...
  14. Consistently crap yes. Now we have a Lions team playing a wonderful brand of rugby that even has NZ scribes singing their praizes, AND they're winning games! The Lions are 2nd overall on the combined log. Yes it is still early days and they haven't won anything yet, but they have been the best team in SA for the last 2 seasons. They had a good super season last year, and only just missed out on the playoffs. I blame Howard Mnisis for knocking the ball on as he went over the tryline against the Stormers, which would have won them the game and probably get them into the playoffs. Thats how close it was. Then comes the CC and they go unbeaten and win it. And they continue that trend by winning all their games against SA opposition (so far) in super rugby this year. So what does AC do? He puts only 2 Lions players in his starting 15. With another 3 warming the bench, hoping for a few minutes of gametime at the end. With the best flank and best wing in SA not even in the match 23. If we don't pick the best team avilable, purely on merit, we will forever be chasing the AB's.
  15. "At the moment"? I assume you've been watching him a lot playing in the European leagues? Otherwise how would you know that he is our best? I base my opinion of WW on the fact that he has been the best 8 IN SA for the last 2 seasons. He's a different type of 8 though, more of a link and attacking space type of player rather than bashing it up with brute force like Duane. I know which one I'd prefer... And that's why I'd rather have WW at 8 and Duane at 7. But hey, I'm not the bok coach... This is still a good team and should beat Ireland comfortably. It's not our BEST team though.
  16. JPP ahead of Combrinck? Really? No place for the best 6 in the country (by a mile) Jaco Kriel? My loosies would've been 6. Kriel, 7 Vermeulen and 8 Whiteley (captain).
  17. Youtube gets blocked by the work server, and internet through phone networks is waaay too slow to play videos. And technically, posting here is almost as good as googling it
  18. Bump. I have the same problem with my bike after the weekend's Imvelo classic in swaziland. There is a little bit of play on the rear wheel from side to side. Yesterday I took the wheel off and it also feels like there is a bit of play on the casette. I don't have the tools to tighten the casette or the bearings, and I'm 4 hours away from the closest proper LBS. So I'm stuck.. Which tools should I order online and try do it myself? Or is the safest bet to try get it to a shop to someone who knows what they're doing? Can I ride my bike like that or is it not advisable?
  19. Damn that's hectic! I had a friend who knocked himself out for about 5 minutes and I was crapping myself. If you were out for an hour or more it must've been really bad! Heal up
  20. Looks awesome! I'm so looking forward to this years event
  21. LOL, luckily there wasn't any collateral damage. Except for one of the down lights popping out (why that happened I don't know), and one tiny hole in the ceiling board. I think I shot it against the actual wall, not the ceiling boards. I'll have to go back up to check, at the time I wasn't too worried about anything other than the snake... Maybe it was just faking death
  22. LOL, sorry if I misunderstood your post. Hopefully we don't have any more uninvited settlers! Otherwise my wife and kids may just pack up and leave me here.. I still have to check the roof for eggs though, in case it was a female..
  23. The name sounds familiar. I've been watching this program on Animal Planet I think, Snakes in the City. This tattooed guy catching snakes in Dbn. Even he gets the shakes every time they deal with mambas
  24. So would you rather leave a 2.5m black mamba in your roof because another one could possibly move in if you kill this one? Remember, it being in the roof is almost as good as being in your house, it's so easy for them to squeeze through tight spaces.
  25. Not sure I would try catching one in the roof, even if I was trained. Mambas are flippen aggressive and in the roof you have no room to move, so if it comes for you you're in ****. Have also inquired about antivenom, it costs many thousands rondellas and you have to order a minimum of several vials. And you have to know what to do with it, otherwise you can easily kill your patient.
