  1. Isn't Same Gaze the lovely gentleman who had that incident with his fellow countryman once during a race.. IIRC there was some flipping off invoved too? Never liked the guy after that
  2. Guys, can the Fenix 3 battery be replaced? Mine lasts only 2 days now, without recording any activities
  3. Not sure I'm following your reasoning now.. As long as they love the sport and what they do, why not? Would you say the same about Greg Minnaar? Should he have rather tried other sports instead of biking and motoX only from a young age? Perhaps he would've been a good teacher (more useful), instead of a good sportstar?
  4. I'm sure they don't mind today though... 20 grand slams each, 3 best players ever, all the cash they could ever want.. All 3 have indicated they love the sport, unlike Agassi
  5. I fully agree. I was merely pointing out that the 3 best ever tennis players did indeed start at a very young age..
  6. Not to flog a dead horse here or argue for the sake of arguing, but tennis is definitely one of the sports where early specialization is beneficial. Yes they may have played other sports as well, but the point is they started playing tennis at a young age and focused mostly on that. Let's look at the big 3 (source wiki) Federer Federer also credits his hand-eye coordination to the wide range of sports he played as a child, including badminton and basketball. Federer played his first junior match in 1996 at the age of 14 at a grade 2 tournament in Switzerland. Djokovic As a young child, Djokovic was given a mini-racket and a soft foam ball, by his parents, which his father claimed, became "the most beloved toy in his life". Djokovic began playing tennis at the age of four,[19] when his parents sent him to a tennis camp in Novi Sad,[18] as his parents had not played any tennis in the past.[20] In the summer of 1993, before attending primary school, the six-year-old was sent to a tennis camp organized by the Teniski Klub Partizan[20] and overseen by Yugoslav tennis player Jelena Genčić,[21] at Mount Kopaonik, where Djokovic's parents ran a fast-food parlour[22] and a sports equipment business.[18] Upon seeing the child Djokovic playing tennis, she stated: "This is the greatest talent I have seen since Monica Seles. Nadal Recognizing in Rafael a natural talent, another uncle, Toni Nadal, a tennis coach, introduced him to the game when he was three years old.[9] At age 8, Nadal won an under-12 regional tennis championship at a time when he was also a promising football player.[10] This made Toni Nadal intensify training, and it was at that time that his uncle encouraged Nadal to play left-handed for a natural advantage on the tennis court, after studying Nadal's then two-handed forehand stroke.[10] At age 12, Nadal won the Spanish and European tennis titles in his age group, while also playing football.[10] Nadal's father made him choose between football and tennis so that his schoolwork would not deteriorate entirely. Nadal said: "I chose tennis. Football had to stop straight away."[10]
  7. I believe the same happens with sports like tennis, and probably golf too. Djokovic, Nadal, Federer, Ash Barty, they all started playing as soon as they could lift a tennis racket.
  8. Coming back to this debate.. Without having the exact stats in front of me, I'd guess that Greg has been competing for much longer than Nino? So one could argue that Nino achieved more in a shorter space of time. Also, he went a full season unbeaten, no? He has stiff competition from MVDP , Pidcock and others, but I'm pretty sure he'll surpass Absalon's record at some stage. Anyways, I agree this is comparing apples with pears. Both great champions in their respective disciplines.
  9. Where to buy online though? Buycycle has nothing.. CWC cheapest is R350 for a set https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/shimano-mtb-optislik-shift-cable-set Evo bikes R150 for one https://www.evobikes.co.za/product/49952f1483d01798dd8daa1c4c4a5af3/
  10. When do you sleep though?
  11. For another Fenix 3 or a newer model?
  12. My back yard
  13. I also didn't like the angle of the top tube at first, but it has grown on my the more I see it. But for now I have no reason (or bucks) to trade in my Stage!
  14. That sounds fairly good. Cheapest I could get for my bike (R70k replacement value) was between R400 and R500 with Outsurance.
  15. Very valid question. How would they know if I damage my bike today, but activate the insurance tomorrow and claimed it happened then? I am tempted to give this a go though. Where I live the risk of my bike being stolen or hijacked is very low, so I just can't justify paying a couple hundred bucks every month for insurance I would rarely need. It would be cool to activate insurance only when I go to town for a couple of days and I take my bike with.
  16. I hope so, as I'd love to get one but just can't justify spending R15 000+ on a trainer.
  17. The normal 3 Everything else works fine. It was just nice getting notifications especially on long rides, so you can see if it is someone or something important that requires stopping and responding
  18. For some reason notifications from my phone won't come through on the watch anymore. I've updated the app on phone and watch, reset both numerous times, checked all settings on phone to allow notifications, removed the watch from devices and added it again. Still nothing, niks, nada. Keep on getting message on phone that notifications have stopped unexpectedly... Anyone else experience this?

    Cricket......

That's the thing about T20 cricket, anyone can beat anyone on the day.

From Firdose Moonda, I like this piece about AB, sums him up quite brilliantly: "While de Villiers yo-yoed between wanting to be the best batsman in the world to wanting to keep wicket, to having a bad back and not wanting to keep wicket, to wanting to support Hashim Amla as Test captain, to admitting to feeling let down that he wasn't named captain, to threatening to retire early because of his heavy workload, to taking a sabbatical, du Plessis was there, consistently being consistent." https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/28723721/faf-du-plessis-gave-all-south-africa-take-anymore

    Cricket......

Firstly, great T20 and ODI series against the poms! Finally our batsmen started scoring some runs. I'm a little worried about our bowling, didn't seem to great at times. But that's the modern game I suppose, it favours batsmen more than bowlers. As for Faf, it was the right time and right thing to do. I was never his biggest fan, but he did well through some really difficult times. Hopefully he gets back into form again now with the bat. As for the next captain, I agree with the sentiments that Bavuma must earn his place in the test team first. And even then, I also get the feeling that people think they can copy and paste the rugby template. My vote goes to Quinny, but perhaps they should consider giving the gloves to someone else then? Take some of the load off him. ODI's and T20's they can make whoever they want captain

I was never Faf's biggest fan. But I must admit, he was captain in a difficult time, and deserves a good send off.

So, the commentator on espn cricinfo has twice called Bavuma "the man in form". One decent first class score hardly maketh a man in form, but let's see what he can do. Looks good so far with 14 from 22.
  24. If I train it well, it can take out the webuycar oke AFTER he's paid me. This can be the start of a fruitful partnership!
