  1. Please send us the video/story that shows/states him hitting the guys car!
  2. Looks race ready!
  3. Typical grb285!
  4. Shorten chain accordingly. Use bash guard. Or get yourself a different FD, one with clamp above FD mechanism which then surrounds the chain better.
  5. There are definitely pro`s and con`s for Jonkies The single track is insane BUT there isnt much else which is enjoyable. Tokai single track could be longer but the Jeep track extends quite far, whether you want to ride Noordhoek peak or do the mast. It obviously all depends which is your home trail, Tokai is mine. I take a trip out to Jonkies at least once a month just for the single track, so I make it a mission to ride down twice and up once. (Up direction when its quiet)
  6. , Do alot of riding all over the place BUT I still dig Tokai, its my home trail! Just wish there was more single track because once you climb up most of the single track (Faerie Garden, my roots, boomslang, mamba & Boulders) there is no more..... Then its time to turn around and bomb down the same single track and simply ride back up! (Depending what time as it may not suit riding up some sections due to traffic)
  7. That one is easy, some quick power pedal strokes gets you to the top!
  8. Because he forgot his helmet at home, Safety first!!
  9. Just to clear things up, if you refer to the iride Map: I normally ride UP & DOWN the following trails; 1) Faerie Garden 2) My roots (Go in just after Faerie Garden - over long wooden bridge) 3) Main hill single track, except vasbyt berm (take route to the right through forest) 10) Boomslang 9) Mamba 7) Boulders So, no I dont ride up the DH Trails 5 & 6. http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv90/david16v/stuff/Tokai-MaintenanceDay1.jpg
  10. 1) Berm, lip of vasbyt will not be damaged by riders going up. 2) Safety is on the agenda! @Manchillz, The route section IS about 5-10m after the berm BUT it extends right down about 10m from the turn into the forest.
  11. If its only the top berm that is an issue then there is an alternate route just before the root section off to the right. This can be the one way up and then the start of vasbyt(berm) can be the one way down to the root section. See pic attached. You can see the blue line which is my actual route taken, NOTICE: NOT UP VASBYT (BERM) I have added red arrows to show the up and down routes. http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv90/david16v/vasbyt.jpg
  12. Ya, got ball cramp the other day, so maybe I need a bigger size?
  13. Hi-jack off.......... Back to the safety issue!
  14. Just what I thought, DH riders have no sense of humour! And we the guys wearing (tight) lycra! Relax man.
  15. Ya, but as a DH rider, why would you want to know elevation? For pushing your bike up the jeep track again??
  16. Doesnt even ride much? Check the pic guy. Let see how much you ride.......oh wait....DH riders dont use HR monitors with GPS. http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv90/david16v/Sportstracks.jpg
  17. Its the DH riders who start firing the guns with lycra & bum cream comments before us XC riders have even said anything. I get plenty of practice up and down the single tracks as I stay nearby. So on Sunday, I got to see the work which was done on Saturday.
  18. You DH guys are so ignorant!! You mention about how many riders use Tokai on a weekend, +-1200 and then tell other cyclists to go ride somewhere else?? BUT what you dont realize is that out of those 1200 riders, maybe 30 are DH riders!!!!! Therefore 1170 cyclists (from amateurs to pro`s) use the entire mountain and bring the money to SANparks! So if YOU want signs because YOUR trails are being stuffed up and YOUR lips on your ramps are degrading then do it with your own money!! The rest of the 1170 cyclists will just keep on using the trails as is! So, please keep up your maintenance for all the XC riders.
  19. Amen again, brother!
  20. This was said because two DH riders had a loud conversation in the car park on Saturday morning about cyclists riding up the DH birm section. The one DH rider was cross with the other because he didnt tell the cyclist to get off the trail! Just who does he think he is??? THE TRAILS ARE FOR ALL! Read my posts above before shooting your mouth off.
  21. There aint no chip on my shoulder, the issue I have is because of ALL the DH riders complaining about their sections being ridden up, where they not meant to, BUT there is no signage informing people as to a direction. If the DH guys want to SPEED/RACE (as its all about time) down these sections then they have to have more riders/friends placed on sections (as I said before) and or around road gaps, informing other cyclists as to what is happening. For Eg: Part of the top trail might look ok, but when the DH rider gets further down there might be a kid/novice cyclist around a blind corner. No-one can expect to race down these trails without having some kind of traffic as this is NOT a race where the trail/DH section gets demarcated!! So in other words, if you/any DH rider doesnt want there run to be stuffed up, then have more `look-outs` spaced down the trails!
  22. Exactly, SAFETY (you said it) so you cannot expect to SPEED down these trails without knowing that the trail ahead is clear!!!!!! These signs say DH 1, DH 2, etc but they DO NOT SAY - ONE WAY! I will continue to ride up these trails (between 6-8am on the Weekends & 6-8pm on week nights) These trails dont belong to any group of cyclist, everybody is welcome! I actually overheard someone complaining on Saturday morning in the Car park about some guy riding up that section and another fellow DH`er asking if he tuned this guy??!!! This was at 9am, unfortunately the `novices` (aka t-shirt brigade) are already on the trails at this time. I got stuck behind a father and son (8 years old) 2 weekends ago, I didnt tell the guy to hurry up, get off the trail, etc because there could be a superior DH rider coming soon to ride over us! I slowed down and actually got thinking that this was awesome father/son time and this little boy could be the next `Burry`! So put ur EGO aside and just ride safe and cautiously!
  23. What you guys must remember is that there are no signs in Tokai with regards to direction. If you guys want to SPEED down the downhill routes then there should be more DH guys spaced evenly apart at each section(road gap) warning people/other cyclists of the DH riders coming down!! This is NOT a bike park, everyone can ride freely BUT need to be informed and obey the rules. I in particular ride 3/4 of the way up and rather turn right into the single track which is parallel to the berm amongst/behind some trees. I have seen so many novice cyclists with their kids going up that entire section!! Maybe install a sign at the point before the routes going up to the berm which states "no riding from this point forward, take alternative route."
