  1. 2010 Wiesenhof was awesome! I had been looking forward to the 2011 event throughout this year! The Dam was a huge highlight as the spectators could swim/chill while the riders were on the trail! Not too sure where the `camp` site will be @ Oak Valley? If it was like the Apple Blossom race this year, the parking was too far away from the action and therefore spectators would feel as if they are not part of the vibe/action? They should definitely have more than one 24hr race in a year, maybe we can have 24hrs of Wiesenhof in March?
  2. You would think that for the price you are paying for these rims, they would have sealed bearings!?
  3. Can check on the dirtopia website under 2011 Calendar.
  4. Hey guys, Any news on why this event has been changed/canceled? The new location is Oak Valley 24hr ride on 29/30th Jan. This is and was an awesome venue/trail!
  5. single front chain ring!!
  6. It's a Reba fork with Specialized 'brain' technology!
  7. No one buys a BAR-ONE for the 25hr day! It`s chocolate! They (Power balance band) use `false tests` /(false advertising) to sell there product!
  8. Shame, you obviously bought one! HA HA HA!!!!!
  9. This is wasting the Police`s time as they have FAR more important things to do! Rather sort these guys out yourselves.
  10. And pull your windscreen out at the same time!!
  11. If its the same devices they use to carry the huge, heavy, thick glass in on construction sites, then I would trust it. Otherwise borrow someone elses bike to test
  12. Go Covie! `Fastbike` is EPIC FAIL!
  13. This is a pointless topic!
  14. Different lateral stresses on the frame. When you ride on the road/mountain your rear tyre or rear part of your frame is not being subject to horizontal stress (wheel clamped), it`s more vertical. I notice alot of movement on my aluminium frame on the idt!
  15. Well said! I was gonna say something a bit more rude than that!
  16. The other problem is that Mountain bikers were riding on the pavement also in the wrong direction. There was a lady walking on the pavement pushing a pram and the MTB`s did not move off the pavement!!! Instead the lady had to step off the pavement into the road with the pram??????? I am a mountain biker and this is just stupid For those guys out there, you are stupid f*#%ers! Go ride in/on the trails!
  17. Should not be riding on the pavement!
  18. if you read my post carefully, I said that you can check the profile the day before, remember the important climbs and the check it out on the garmin as you ride. there is also a zoom function to see the climbs if riding as you say, 200km?
  19. Interesting to see how you rode & coped in the specific weather conditions (temp) and how you felt. If this was not important then Polar and Garmin would exclude this feature from there devices! Nice to see the actual profile being logged of the specific race you doing. If you have seen the profile of the race the day before, then you can remember the total climbing/ascent/profile. Very handy when doing marathon racing! You want to see the profile while you riding, not when you get home! You will understand when doing 100km/day over 3 or more consecutive days of racing! Don`t really need this function if your average ride is 50-60km. (once off ride)
  20. From what I can see, the Edge 500 does not have elevation profile. The Edge 305 maps the elevation profile which is quite handy, but it does not have temp!
  21. Why is it that all the training programs, they refer to cadence and HR?? Now if it was not that important, then you dont need to look at it! Different cadence/hr according to interval/endurance/strength training!
  22. Touch screen cell-phone in a plastic bag, now that`s a good one! Garmin edge 305 is not all that fancy! Like I said different strokes for different fowkes!
  23. I understand my body just fine, but that still doesnt mean I dont need to check the data! You cant tell me that doing a multi-stage event you aint gonna look at the data while riding??? Still cant understand people that ask "How far are we?" in a race!! This all means that you can use all the energy you have on a particular hill/flat section throughout the race. Not knowing how far you`ve ridden/ how far you still have to ride is a crisis! The other problem is once you get home and analyze the info, you actually forget how you were feeling on different hills, whereas if you just look down at your gps (garmin) you can see what your HR/cadence is. You can even lap it and when you review @ home can pin-point the specific spot on the map! Anyway, different strokes for different fowkes!
  24. Thats where you all wrong! You need to analyze your data as you ride! The more experienced you are the better you understand your cadence & HR vs distance & elevation, etc. Does your phone do Cadence? Dont think so! I don`t see the pro`s using these devices in there pockets??? They are mounted on the handle bars for a reason. Oh, one other thing, your phone ain`t IP65/77 rated, which means it aint waterproof! Good luck using this on your handle bars when the weather turns ugly or when you ride through a river! If you are in a pack keeping up with the fast guys; a ) you dont know what your HR is b ) how much distance/elevation is left? c ) how long you can keep your HR up there before fatigue/lactic acid start to build up. It`s all about sticking with the pack, checking distance, HR, ascent and then planning if you can stick it with this pack, join the next pack or drop back to another pack.
  25. Oh my sack! Were there any accidents by these water points???? I like there fanny-packs All-in-all, Very Nice!
