  1. I like your avg and max heart rates!!
  2. +1 All-in-all a great event! Managed a 3hr27min in the 60km route. Was awesome to ride the last 10km`s amongst the 75km elite riders!!
  3. Those printed settings are incorrect. I have the SID Race and weigh 74kg, pressure set to 60psi/60psi. You have to set according to the 20-25% sag!! Plus side of Rockshox SID over FOX: 1) SID much lighter! 2) Lock-out on SID does not lock out 100% and therefore if a fairly big ditch/bump is hit it will take up the slack without damaging your shock, whereas the FOX lockouts 100% (no budging at all) and if the same situation above happens to the FOX the damping/lockout system (seals) could be damaged! Personal preference at the end of the day! If i was to upgrade from my SID it would be to a Cannondale for the Lefty!
  4. Registration info is on their website. BUT it has been a bit too quiet! I`m starting in C for the 60km but I have no idea how many start groups there are?!
  5. Dig the Specialized van!! http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv90/david16v/stuff/amflyervan-660x283.jpg
  6. http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv90/david16v/stuff/Tokai-MaintenanceDay1.jpg Maybe maps like this indicating as to which trail/s will be done on which dates of the month would help. If any cyclist is unhappy with a certain trail or section in particular then they can get involved. Then ALL cyclists can see which trails they would like to maintain and we wont have XC vs DH flaming! Red dot on map = Trail maintenance day 1, DH level 5.
  7. I`ve posted before that I commend the work getting done but if you take a step back as a `new` hubber and looked under the routes & trails topic, Tokai Maintenance, its all focused on DH. Maybe when they do work in Tokai they should take a before and after photo explaining what was/has been done. Trails get confused by so many people and some cyclists have different names for them. A proper map and pictures of the start of the different single tracks/DH trails could be attached. There should be a `plan/programme` in place as to which trails are next on the list. Not something that gets decided the same week as the maintenance.
  8. Probably because I wear lycra! Or because I aint a DH`er! Quoted by you on 4 April 2011. I have said in several older posts that I will get involved when we do solely XC routes. My personal opinion buddy! Truth is there are so many riders in Tokai & probably only 50% use the hub. So think how many cyclists are just riding in Tokai and dont care about Trail Maintenance or otherwise known by you guys as DH maintenance.
  9. No category is better than the other (DH vs XC, etc) Thats simple to answer......ratio of XC riders vs DH are a lot greater! Or XC riders have more balls! Most of the single tracks above the main hill (without man made jumps parallel to single track) are in a bad way. Eroding on several corners, roots becoming exposed, very sandy...............but I keep riding these as XC trails erode and become more and more challenging to ride up!! Whereas DH trails need constant upkeep due to the lips/jumps eroding. That is why you will see most of the posts in/under `TRAIL MAINTENANCE` are from the DH guys talking about which berms and jumps have eroded, etc, etc. Its always the same guys, all DH`ers Capricorn (the troll lover) Pain or Shine grb285 (the lycra lover & topic locker)
  10. You guys just dont get it! Think you all have fallen on ur heads too much while doing ur DH thing.... I would help when it is Tokai (NO DH) Trail maintenance (Jeep track, single track, etc) OH WAIT..................JEEP TRACK & NORMAL SINGLE TRACK DON`T NEED MAINTENANCE!!!
  11. 'hub` etiquette!
  12. Maybe that`s because XC riders make up for 90% of the cyclists on the mountain!! They also cover trails which are unknown as to what lies ahead especially after rain or SANparks have done work. DH riders stick to one section and ride it repeatedly! Obviously getting to know it very well.
  13. Cycle lab. I think its about R80??
  14. I`m referring to the bridge on the trail just after fairy garden, if riding up from the entrance. This trail is parallel to the first climb. Check the pic. Purple line = normal main jeep track Red line = Through Fairy garden Red dot = Where bridge was situated
  15. I dont know who removed this bridge but I had seen many riders coming down and wiping out. When it was wet it was even more of a nightmare. I saw a guy come down that whole single track right from the top on a uni-cycle!!! When he got onto the bridge (the one mentioned above) the uni-cycle shot out from underneath him into the river and he landed on his head!! Not good!!! If you gonna have a bridge situated in that position/gradient just before a corner all year-round then it needs to be covered with chicken mesh! Talk about skills = uni-cycle on single track!
  16. They guy who came off is in a bad way, in ICU. Let's all hope he pulls through!!!
  17. Been on the hub much longer than you littl boy. Why don't you do somethinh usefull while you on school holiday and go do some DH maintenance, while wearing your full face helmet!! Can't wait to meet you on the next maintenance session!
  18. "Sorry for hi-jack" Then you obviously never met this car on the road before I sold it! Engine conversion done by myself. I aint afraid of any manual labour!
  19. Its a custom build XC bike, not a bike bought off the LBS floor!
  20. Got no problem to get involved, just not gonna help on the DH trails! Let me know when single tracks gets attention, the trails without ANY man made jumps. If there is a hint to work on jumps, I`m outta there! Signs are needed in Tokai with the direction arrows! Just out of interest, who classifies a trail as DH? The main hill single track was initially a normal single track. Someone started to build jumps just next to the trail and now its known as a DH?? Most of the riders I`ve seen using this trail are NON-DH riders!!! From beginners to semi-pros, riding in both directions!!
  21. Why do some people have stupid comments/phrases written at the bottom of their profile?? Nearly as useless as those guys wearing powerband bracelets
  22. Friend told me that he was on the mountain this evening, apparently someone came off on the main hill and it wasn't pretty!!!!
  23. Ha ha ha, any fool who tries to take me out on the DH trails while I'm going up is gonna get some jujitsu on his ass! David16v is a legend, he gets mentioned by the DH riders on nearly every post they start, u would swear I am a DH god!
