  1. What's unique about this is how Katie responded to Denise Betsema 'problem' where she had a doping positive but was able to show which dodgy supplement and where/when it was ingested. UCI listened and she got a 6 month suspension and was back racing Feb last year. however she was tarred and feathered by the anti doping lynch mob. I for one believe Denise's case was genuine, she might have been naive but did not intentionally dope. $h!t happens, its real. Katie (and other North Americans like Nash, Kabushka et al) would have none of it, damning her to the abyss of dopers. Katie was particularly viscous on Twitter. "This is such bull ****, a rider tests positive TWICE for anabolic steroids & she gets a 6month off-season ban? ⁦@UCI_cycling ⁩ lets clean athletes down yet again." @KatieFnCompton Jan 20, 2020 "Not her fault isn’t an excuse and I’m tired of hearing the same thing from every athlete with a positive dope test. Every clean athlete is over it. Something needs to change." @KatieFnCompton Jan 21, 2020 Her mate Katerina Nash: "The principle of strict liability in Anti-Doping is very clear. Intentional or unintentional means the same result - guilty! Athletes are 100% responsible for what goes in our body at all times. I'll always follow these rules and fight for #cleansport in all possible ways." @katkanash· Jan 21, 2020 Ja, ja, ja.
  2. Tragic - condolences. More than once (whilst driving and cycling) I've had to take avoiding action from an on-coming car / van / truck on the wrong side of the road over the crest of a hill, avoiding certain death. This is not isolated. There is a culture of not giving a damn about other users of the road. This is connected with the culture of entitlement imo, although bad driving here spans the population at large. Far too many people driving vehicles here have any or little respect or knowledge of the basic rules of the road, I see that every day around Jhb, Stopped cycling on the roads here a few years ago, after one too many NDE's, knowing one day my luck will run out. Be careful people. Always expect the worst from any vehicle approaching you. But its the one you don't see that will get you.
  3. What it feels like to lose at the Olympics @sparkleaddict
  4. Rochelle Gilmore .. ex roadie and ex owner of that Wiggle High 5 team. Yeah she was also at Rio and really out of her depth at the mtb events, not sure about track. But Gerald is relatively informed, certainly mtb and road. With Carlton on Eurosport is Jo Rowsell, part of the meal winning Team GB previously, she is great. Carlton is your typical Mr Know It All, irritates the tits off me, But who am I 2 complain,
  5. Carlton Kirby really can be a cretin at times! z in DuPreez is silent! Once tweeted him on how to say Van Zyl on the Vuelta and he banned me.
  6. NL Gold in Mens Team Sprint, another silver for GB. New OR.
  7. Chloe MAGA and the USA girls Bronze
  8. German ladies smash the team pursuit! Another WR! Team GB silver.
  9. Looks like Mens Team GB more interested in Team Sprint
  10. Drama with the Danes and the Brits in the team persuit! Dane rides blindly into a Brit
  11. No shin tape on the Danes
  12. Krikey WR's are falling like flies on the track .... .GanNa !
  13. Although it should be said the BBC Breakfast team is far too bright and bushy tailed for my advanced age and cynical disposition.
  14. BBC is limited since Eurosport bought all the rights. If you can get Eurosport player, lots of channels, but near to impossible to get s sub for that unless you have a UK or Euro based Credit or Debit Card, but if you (or anyone else) has a solution for that, please share.
  15. BBC ... via www.getflix.com.au
  16. If any Olympian mtb'er needs a hug its really Ondrej Cink, really was on his way to Bronze when he flatted in big way and had to walk a long way back to the tech zone, DNF.
  17. Some context:
  18. Agreed - she is fearless and you could see the hesitations of PFP. Weren't they on the same road team at one stage? Liv?
  19. There is/ was a bit of a rise before that drop, right? anyway if you want to send it over that drop, you will need to build up and have speed, so if the person in front of you slows down, kinda stuffs it up for you, but can you hold that person responsible? You need to avert / take appropriate action, but easier said than done in hindsight. And you do need to be aggressive in over taking / moving up (within reasonable bounds) otherwise its never going to happen. All is fair in love and war! But seems to be a few bad vibes around the ladies XCO bunch at the moment, which is unusual. Sour grapes from the outgoing champ? Her result was not what she expected I am sure. The Swiss ladies also seemed to get tire choice right for the day, which surely made a difference. If outsider Blanke KV can come for the back row to 4th place, surely anything is/was possible.
  20. She also just seemed to run out steam on that rocky ascent, what's the antonym of sending it? Certainly Yo!anda did not get in the way.
  21. It seems the changes that were made to the track due to the heavy rains overnight caught many off guard: route changes, no A lines, one lap less, So the Swizz girls claim they were able to dial into the new setup beforehand thanks to their teamwork and technical coach, whilst others bemoaned the changes. Some didn't even check it out in the practice session before the race apparently. Perhaps some of the changes were in response to the big off from MvdP, the course got dumbed down imo. But why one lap shorter? That was a travesty.
  22. There's a bit of drama over that drop, Yo!anda says PFP braked just before that drop, forcing her off line over the top, then she realised she had to gap her https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/neff-decries-ferrand-prevots-stupid-move-in-tokyo-olympics-mountain-bike-race/
  23. Best result for Team Cannondale as well
  24. Tom is an atypical Pom, he doesn't drink and he is not into football. Good lad! Leeds (where he is from) is a nice place, What remains now is downhill.
