  1. you can't discount a past winner of MSR like that surely? If it comes down to a sprint then I think Cav, Team Sky's ace up the sleeve is Boassen-Hagen if he gets into a break
  2. i think the wind was stronger than most people anticipated at the bottom end of the course. it was definitely stronger than last year. Headwind down the blue route meant B group was doing a fairly pedestrian high 30's kph for that section of the race, so was always playing catch-up per sub-3 split times.
  3. sorry guys, i've been reseeded to B. I feel like a turncoat but no doubt you'll still smash sub-3. Good luck!! *off to find the "Argus B group start. Anyone?" thread

    Argus Expo

my question about the Expo: There was a Spesh bike there, you just needed to look really closely...it was at the Pinarello Stand, back-right corner, with the WC stripes on the frame...

    Argus Expo

Olympic Cycle sell Spesh helmets....S-works, Propero, Prevail....so you can go to their stand at the Expo
  6. bring them! you don't forget to pack your best boardies when you go on holiday do you?

  8. exactly cptmayhem....all of those areas and more, even the street lights on main road in early morning aren't a huge help for showing up potholes and other general road detritus. (completely off topic, but can i just ask as its always "bothered" me, does the "cpt" in your name stand for cape town or captain? I've always had you as captain mayhem, some kind of anarchic force on the bike, causing chaos wherever you choose to ride....)
  9. thanks for the feedback so far. just to clarify the light would be used on constant beam setting for riding Cape Town southern suburbs morning training rides as certain areas of the S-Burbs are not very well lit (FWIW IMHO the front light should never be on strobe anyway). Tiny K - I think the ML1000 is the new 808 which I read on the interweb had some problems with overheating (although constant airflow over the light should negate this problem). shaune, can you provide a link for the SERFAS at the price you quote? If they are as good as the other options but half the price, and if no-one has any compelling reason why not to buy them, I would obviously consider them. Thanks
  10. taper? for the argus? its just another race so it should be just another training week. 2hr tuesday morning; 2hr thursday morning; Complete rest day friday, hydrate lots and eat sensibly (whatever works for you); 90 minute easy spin with a couple of intense efforts on saturday, hydrate lots and carbo-load (or whatever works for you) try and get as much sleep as you can throughout the week.
  11. if you did 70.3 you most likely have a decent base? unavoidable that you would have lost fitness over the past 6 weeks having done nothing, but you should be well rested and de-fatigued after 70.3. Assuming you have a good base, rather than long rides why not focus on shorter more intense rides over the next week, do nothing on Friday 9th, then another short session on Saturday with a couple of intense efforts, you should be good to go Caveat: the above assumes your ITB is properly healed!
  12. Dear knowledgable Hubbers, As winter draws nearer I'm looking to buy a front light to be used predominantly for morning road riding in and around CT, and have narrowed down my choice to the following options (prices quoted from CWC). Which would you go for? Any good advice appreciated. Cheers Ross
  13. 3:15 from AA last year, want to smash sub 3 this year
  14. you do I am E
  15. hope I'm not too broken from the Saturday race or the wedding on Saturday night in Franschhoek!!
  16. can i call you to confirm your bank details?
  17. oh don't you worry i'll phone the radio station!! I'll phone and tell them that LL, the very same LL who finished 2nd SV in the rollercoaster no less, sucked his daughters wheel all the way up Chappies not once taking a turn on the front. Scandalous behaviour!
  18. Cheers Dale
  19. woop woop I am now E seed. Hopefully a good end to Summer season and a strong Argus will get me to my target of D
  20. with the rain and crashes it seems like this was "a good race to miss", as if there can possibly be such a thing! chapeau to those who made it to the start and finish lines despite the weather. Hope those who crashed are back in the saddle soon!
  21. and i'm just curious, that's all, i promise The one thing i've enjoyed about STARS is racing the same people week in week out, learning how they ride, if they can ride, and also met some good okes. The good okes I know by first name, the others I can only recognise by kit or, if they've really fooked me off, by race number.
  22. you've no need to be scared, our posse couldn't catch you...unless they took a cheeky shortcut back over blackhill of course.... *grabs flaming torch and pickaxe*
  23. what kit does hilton du preez ride in?
  24. ahhh I see, so he then latched onto the back of the first 3 and that's how he took 4th according to Racetec.
