  1. You help these people, give them opportunities, give them free bikes and they still do this.
  2. No.......South Africans are nortoriously lazy. In Europe everybody cycles, it can be pouring with rain and you'll still see thousands of bikes outside the shopping centres. I've started commuting and I love it. I ride my mtb to work and it is amazing how many cycle paths and pavements are available to ride on. I wouldn't use a road bike on them though. I take a towel and a face cloth and have a "basin" shower when I get to work.
  3. If you look on the Campag website, you will find all the archived brochures. I had a similar looking Centaur groupset which was a 2005 model.
  4. Don't know if this was posted elsewhere. The new Scott Addict. Frame and fork together is less than 1kg.
  5. Not too sure about Edge, but they seem to be a generic wheel that is branded by different companies. They look remarkably similar to the Matrix, Planet X and one or too other brands that I've that I cannot recall the name of. I could be mistaken though. There is a Hubber that imports them, he also sell lights etc. Can't remember his name, he should have more detail.
  6. There is a lot more to it. Firstly, your employer requires a Tax Directive to determine the rate of PAYE that must be witheld from your salary and paid to SARS. They will withold this amount of tax from your salary each month in the form of PAYE and pay it on your behalf to SARS. In the absence of any directive, they must withold 25% of your salary each month and pay it over. The only time that you will get a refund is if they have witheld more than they need to. If your commission makes up more than 50% of your total earnings, you will be entitled to a whole lot of deductions that normal employees don't get, making a refund more likely. You are welcome to PM me any questions and I'll help where I can.
  7. You can count on your one hand the number of companies that do make their own frames. It is how the cycle industry works. Most of the big brands contract companies in the east to make their frames
  8. Were they specified at R1 150? You cannot expect them to pay you out R2 300 when you have only been paying premiums on R1 150
  9. Something I always remembered about him (and his brother). About three or four years ago he publicly stated on the Hub that he loved his brother. I thought that was so nice.
  10. For a full carbon frame with XT? It's a bloody good deal.
  11. Are you sure it is new? They stopped making these early in 2010 and were replaced by Nomads. However, if it is an old stock bike and is new, then R10 grand with those specs is a very good deal. The only problem will be with resale. Raleigh doesn't exist in that form any more and very few people are buying high end 26ers (perhaps this is why it is so cheap)

    Man Cave v2.0

Jeez and I thought I had a lot of bikes in my garage.
  13. The Tasol Pro Team (now Abantu) rides with GT road bikes. There is nothing wrong with them, it is just that GT is more renouned for MTB.

    Team Tasol

I could have sworn that I posted something similar this afternoon, but can't find my post. Anyway, here it goes again. I know that Tasol withdrew their sponsorship and the team was closing. This weekend I saw two of their riders in a white kit, with SA fags on the legs and sleeves. Have they managed to find a new sponsor?
  15. Shame, hope all goes well. Never nice hearing about these things.
  16. What happened to him?
  17. Yes you are right, the law gives a cyclist all the same rights AND obligations as a motorist, but the law is also very specific in that it states that cyclists MUST ride in single file except when over taking another cyclist.
  18. Just one thing that concerns me................the fork was replaced under warranty and rightly so, but what about the rest of the frame. If the crash was as hard as what was explained, there could be damage to the frame itself. I would fight for a whole new frame as it's safety could be compromised as a result of the fall. Not to mention the asthetics of the bike. There must be scratches and chips somewhere from the fall. Legally, would a person have recourse against the supplier for asthetic damage to other parts of the bike?
  19. Are you riding with clipless pedals (they are called clipless, but they actually have clips that your shoes attach to)? That clicking sound is often due to a "loose" or even worn cleat on your shoe If not, it is possible that the stock pedal (which is normally a cheap brand) has picked up a bit of dirt and it just needs a squirt of lube.
  20. A good tyre to look at is a Maxxis Detonator. They are cheap at about R150 per tyre and they last forever. Another really good option is Continental Gatorskins, they also last forever, but are double the price of the Detonators.
  21. damn predictive text....should be bmx not box.
  22. firstly decide what you want to do. Road, mountain, box or just up and down the beach front.
  23. The price is irrelevant. Even the cheapest glasses should not do that. Other people have had the same problem. Edgars sells these. Ask them who the rep is and make contact with him
  24. Those wheels are famous for doing that.
