  1. From what I have seen, ASG (along with Chris Willemse) have done more for SA cycling that any other importer/distributor. Just look at the amount of sponsored riders out there with ASG kit, especially the juniors. I will make every effort possible to support ASG (I just wish I could afford a Pinarello) This thread has the word "sour grapes" written all over it.
  2. Does Booth offer a lifetime warranty? I find that interesting.
  3. Wise Cracks (windscreen repair place) have a new business call Wise Touch. They come to your house, mix paint on site and remove scratches, chips etc. Perhaps they can do the same for you. Not sure what their prices are.
  4. The extra 2 teeth make a huge difference. I also have a 27/12 and changed to a 25/12 and the difference was noticable on the climbs
  5. Neil may be right, but what decent human would knowingly fleece a desperate person. Just shows what type of person he is. The fact that he sent a gloating sms shows that he felt good about what he did. Let this be another lesson for anyone wanting to deal with him
  6. Lets not forget the first foray into 29ers only included the back wheel. The front was still 26inch
  7. Surely you are not asking the Hub medical advice. You can get any info here on bicycles, but leave the medical problems to your doctor. With some of the advice that you may or may not receive, you could end up with an amputation.
  8. That's is the same as using an abacus when we have calculators.
  9. Is it fair to force them to sell you something so cheap when you know what it's real value is and you know it is nothing more than a typo error on their side?
  10. Bigger wheels will affect your gear ratios. You may not notice the difference or you may need a bigger cassette if it bothers you.
  11. Just ride until you get the feel of it. You will soon learn how and when and what gear to change into.
  12. Go and check Complete Cycling. They have some of the best bike porn........the shop is full of Colnago, Wilier and BH.
  13. I went from Ultegra 6600 to 105 5600 and couldn't feel the difference.

    MTB Seat

Ride it until you get used to it. If it still hurts after a month, then start looking around for another. A friend of mine bought a bike and complained about the seat. He bought no fewer than 5 saddles. Each one gave him the same discomfort. I told him to stop wasting money and just ride. Three years later and no more complaints.
  15. You get tubeless road wheels these days as well. They are not tubbies, but normal clinchers that don't use tubes.
  16. My insurance company collected my rear wheel (front one was stolen). About 3 months later they phoned me to say it was cluttering their offices and they didn't know what to do with it. If I wanted it back I could come and collect it.
  17. What a lot of guys don't realise that their 1 year old bikes are actually selling new for less than they paid because the bike shops are discounting them in anticipation of the new models. An example is a 2013 Specialized SL4 Pro frame that was advertised a few days ago. The seller wants R16 000 for it, which is fair considering the recommended selling price is R23 000. Unfortunately, these are on special at some bike shops for R15 000 or so.
  18. I am willing to bet you won't even feel the difference between the two. Go Deore, it's cheaper.

    Bike sizes

If you multiply your inseam by 0.65, you get a frame size between large and extra large. In road size terms, the formula gives you a frame size of 57. Large = 56 and XLarge = 58
  21. Check out Solomons.....they had some really good specials on Fuji bikes.
  22. Dragons (the guys who do Giant) are the agents. www.dragons.co.za
  23. Forget automotive. You won't enough pressure if you want to pump a road tyre
  24. Considering the effort you went through to save 154g. I would say the you ARE a"Weight Weenie"
  25. Axis are good value for money. They manage to keep the price down but still put decentish parts. Other capable bands that will come in at your budget is Titan, Silverback, Raleigh and Diamondback
