  1. Axis are good value for money. They manage to keep the price down but still put decentish parts. Other capable bands that will come in at your budget is Titan, Silverback, Raleigh and Diamondback
  2. Personally I wouldn't pay anything for a cracked frame. I know that they are repairable, but who knows what other hidden damage that has eminated from the "blow" that caused it to crack. Its like a car, nobody wants a car that has been repaired after a bad accident
  3. Raleigh looking good in black http://cdn.mos.bikeradar.com/images/news/2013/07/23/1374573284947-19273a3fx3km1-800-75.jpg
  4. Is this bike really the "steal" that the seller claims it to be or is it totally over priced? Can a bike of this age, with these specs command such a premium? http://www.gumtree.co.za/cp-sports-bicycles-fitness-in-port-elizabeth-western-region/bicycle-merlin-titanium-extralight-511138657 My personal opinion, the seller is very optimistic, considering he is not willing to negotiate.
  5. Phil is brilliant and the fact that he does his utmost to promote SA whenever he can, deserves some sort of respect.
  6. Somebody has to cover the labour of the bike shop, they can't be expected to do it for free. I believe that cost should be covered by Giant. Their product failed, they have your money. Surely there must be some legal obligation on the side of Giant. What if your 26inch frame cracked? We all know Giant has discontinued 26 inch bikes. So, you will be given a 27.5 frame, but you will have to buy new wheels, new forks, new tyres etc etc. I would love to know if all amnufacturers work this way.
  7. Lance is the fall guy............he has been punished for everybody's sins. I say, reinstate him all make all races within that specific era null and void.
  8. I actually thought about that. Would it really work?
  9. I wouldn't know the difference and I think most people are the same. If a seller told me something, I would have to believe it. i have tried so hard to understand the difference between Watts, lumens, Lux etc, but I don't. So if a seller tells me 2000 lumens I have to believe him.
  10. I would fight the insurance company. Not sure what the warranty says, but are you within the normal warranty period? If you are, then how can your insurance state that it is wear and tear. If there is a warranty in place, that means that the item should not have failed within that period. In other words, if Cannondale offer a 3 year warranty, surely they are stating that their item will last for at least 3 years. Therefore, that item should not have fallen apart within 3 years. I say it cannot be wear and tear.
  11. Sportmans Warehouse are expensive and their staff have little cycling knowledge. Go to a proper bike shop. Cyclopro were selling Axis 29ers for R4 750. Much better than the Avalanche. They will also give you good advice and will make sure you are set up correctly.
  12. Are those 650b wheels? Somewhere i read the the carbon On Ones will accept 650b.
  13. Makro were selling Sora equiped Raleighs for about R2 000 (or was it R3000). If not, you are going to have to go second hand. You won't find a new road bike for that price.
  14. Which frame are you looking at. Is it on the hub?
  15. It depends on which RC 7000 it is. There were three variants. The 2007 were tanks. 2008 were lightish. The 2009 and 2010 were sub 1kg
  16. Silverback Space will cost about R14000, maybe less with the imminent release of 2014 models
  17. So does Specialized. However, in my case, they found a way to avoid giving me the benefit.
  18. If you have the black or white Cervelo, then get yourself the Sram Apex White. It cost about the same as 105 and looks pretty sexy on a black or white bike.
  19. This is going to be the year for 650b. Check the new 2014 GT
  20. A modern 10sp Tiagra would be far better than a 10 year old 9sp 105. The aluminium Pinarellos are over priced, you could go carbon for that. For R10k, you may find an Axis full carbon with 105, brand new.
  21. Had a similar experience with shimano. My rear wheel cracked and they replaced with a wheel that didn't match the front. They just told me to accept "as is" I wonder if there is a legal way to force them to replace with what you had. Anyway, those Pinarello forks seem to be unique to Pinarello. Somebody has to cover the warranty for the fork.
  22. Damnblackberry
  23. I rekon its a paint crack. Take it to a Pinarello dealer. What about the warranty. Maybe it will be replaced for you.
  24. Just because these guys are theives, doesn't mean they all are.
