  1. I don't know him, but I like your old man, just for having this gem in his collection.
  2. And spelling Nazi's.
  3. Campy branded disc brakes? Edit = What a stunning bike.
  4. Your Missus is a spoilsport...

MM93 was in a class all of his one. Masterful. Glad to see VR46 can still take the fight to the "youngsters". JL99, less said of him, the better. Morbideli is showing some promise. When will Vinales ever have a proper start? Maybe VR46 must give him some lessons in his spare time.
  7. Ja, I've only done the right hand section starting at top of Glengariff rd, up to the Kramat split, and then over the logs / roots down to Bantry Bay. So I do it in the other direction you do.
  8. With a moer of a lot of rocky "step-ups" included. Way beyond my current technical ability's, I "hike a bike" more than than I ride a bike there. That said, it is on the menu for this coming Saturday morning.
  9. On the Holy Rail thread there is a drawing/schematic that you can print out, cut out and try out on your bike before committing to anything.

  11. Not really. I fitted one about two years ago, and it did not make a big difference. After replacing my geyser with a modern high pressure one, I took the electronic timer off, and I now see an marked improvement in usage, even though my geyser is on 24/7 (except for loadshedding times, lol)

Ja, Rea tried to hang with him for a while, but as soon as Bautista turned the wick up a bit, he quickly lost touch. Was the first loser by over 10 seconds at the end. Glad to see the Yamaha's are a bit more competitive so far. What happened to the Honda's, they are nowhere to be seen.
  13. Same here. Just wanted to finish safe and with all my skin still on my body. Did it 40 min slower than last year. 4:03 this year, compared to 3:18 last year.
  14. Can you at least feel then?
  15. Ag no DJR, that's terrible. Trust you will recover quickly and completely, and that Team DJR will be full compliment again.
  16. On my way to work this morning, I saw the clouds piled up high over the Hottentots Holland mountains (out Stellenbosch way), much higher than normal. This is a sign that the wind is here with a vengeance, and also here to stay. We will just have to take it as it comes on Sunday. It is what it is......
  17. Jip, was outside just now, overcast with spits and spats, temperature has dropped a good few degrees, and the branches of the trees are dancing around.
  18. Notice they mention " strong breeze". Nothing about wind or gales.
  19. Bunch of pansies. The wind in 2009 was way worse than the cancelled event in 2017. Toilets were blown about in the Starting pens/Holding area, a Catering Tent almost landed on a rooftop, cyclist crawled through the "tunnel", but once outside of the funnel of wind, things was manageable, and we completed the race with only one or two cyclist blown of Chappies. Best of all, there were no prediction of a Black South Easter blowing on that Sunday, and the Monday dawned as calm as can be. So now a few fair weather "cyclist" are getting their g-strings in a knot over a long term prediction. Eat a bag of cement, and HTFU......
  20. Neither is too bad. All manageable.
  21. Ja, fitting the Lyne Holy Rail does take a bit of fiddling. If you are not the handy type that can easily "fault find", you are going to struggle a bit.
  22. A friend of mine's Dad had a Perana, man, how I lusted after that thing.
  23. Even better carbs. http://i434.photobucket.com/albums/qq63/tobytj_bucket/dcoe45-2.jpg
  24. Mudlark, your hotel is quite close to the start, so they can take a saunter down to watch you set off. They will then have ample time to go for a lekker breakfast, before making their way to the finish opposite the Stadium. Depending on how fit / mobile they are, it will be a nice stroll (to work off the breakfast ) All quite safe, as there will be lots of other people, police and officials around. See now that one person is not in good health, so the taxi / uber / hotel shuttle will your answer then. And yes, the cyclist tracking should be in operation, it was in previous years.
