  3. Hey cool to see Geno, Should be fun 3 hours of riding and looking forward.
  4. Hijack on OMG, LOFL Hijack off
  5. Who did you guys go with? Daytrippers
  6. Starting it H - 6:52, not too shabby for Tri athlete and MTB'r on my first Argus. Hoping like hell I can pick up good bunch to challenge the sub 3 weather permitting. Will have to wait and see but no complaints at all as I am quite new to Road. Good luck too all. PS: I saw someone say that the "fast one" might be included as a seeding ???
  7. Good Review at MTBR - http://reviews.mtbr.com/blog/category/lights-shootout/ I run the Dinotte 600 system and it is just fine and as you will see you do not pay and arm and a leg to get them. I have 2 x lights and they work just fine as a bike mount and a helmet mount system. Good reviews and I like them my 2cents
  8. From the training you do to the actual race day fueling strategy is going to be "non standard" I did my last year on game and jelly babies just to prove a point. Best advice I can give is to stay in zone 2 and e during the race and do not forget to eat. You have to train for this as well. Doing my 4th next year and still worried so just keep on training as much as you can and make sure to recover well between rides. You still have 14 weeks left so perhaps use the Polar 12 week program and make sure to taper well. You need an entry level wetsuit and no you do not need the best. For your bike you need clip ons if you can find some Hope this helps a bit. PS: Read the 10 common mistakes on the IM webpage as they are so true.
  9. Our CB became our life lines. Tools / food / milk salve / water and some other stuff as well.
  10. In 2009 we got real hot days and the CB saved our butts. I cannot imagine how a person could do this with only 2 bottles? Mayby just me but would seriously consider finding a way to do CB? Just my 2cents worth
  11. Had only but good service myself. Got Ultegra 6601 cranks with BB after VAT for R1700 and they retailed in SA for R4300 excl BB. Waited 5 working days on free del and everythig was fine. Happy with CRC hope the local LBS's come up with some sort of answer to this as they too provide a service as well.
  12. Did Babbas the first time round also skipped dinner the night before and also did not do bfast. Seems like a pattern . Finished lap 1 feeling great BUT all knows Babbas comes back in round 2 to haunt you. I remeber only seing my arms and nothing else also felt like crying and wanted to go sleep. Some dude saw me and chased a couple of gu's down my face. Limped back to the start. Eish.
  13. I ran 2 in front and 2.4 in the back in Harkerville, Knysna yesterday and felt good. I recon this is what I will be riding in Atta next weekend. Lots of real tough sections with some real rock gardens in the first 40km if my memory serves me well.
  14. Dude with such an impressive CV I am sure people must be lining up to sponsor you then. Good luck
  15. This is going to be my next experiment (when one of my tubeless systems fails). I'm gonna try a Joes conversion without the rim strip on a normal rim (ie: with spoke eyelets). Just gonna clean the rim' date=' pop the fibre tapeover the spokes holes, pop in a valve and some sealant and see how long it lasts... Watch this space...although I'm sure the conversions I've done are gonna hold up a looooong time...[/quote'] Did tubeless valve on DTswiss rims with UST Crossmarks with issulation tape and Joes. Have done plenty of happy KM on this syten with no issues including Epic. Just replaced the entire system after 1 year as Tyres are now dangerous for my health. Will be sure to try out standard tyres (non UST) next to see how this holds up. PS I way 75km and ran 1.8 front and 2.1 back with NO burping at all not once. Great system that is cheap and works as well if not better than most systems. Thanks Eldron and HR for all info.
  16. Thanks all I will check it out today, arrived yesterday night and just catching up.
  17. Remeber that even if you have the best equipment and it is not set up correctly by the "experts" it is not the equipments fault. I am sure once sorted you will be happy with the performance. Hope your fix works out.
  18. Hey all, I am on my way down to Knysna next week ( 3 Jan - 17 Jan 2010) I changed a couple of settings on my MTB and I am doing Atta on the 16th. I am thus looking for a descent MTB route no more than 2 hours riding time to test my MTB before the big day in or close to Knysna. Can anyone inform me of some local routes I can give a bash please. Thanks all
  19. Must say I have the Magura Louise Break system??? Hope you get it sorted soon.
  20. Broke my Lower Jaw and nose and also left cheeck bone as well. This happened when I was 12 years old. In my case my brother decided to loosen my front wheel nuts in order to win the race home after school. School bag on my back + no front wheel at speed = ouch. Wired my jaw closed for 6 weeks and extracted 1 tooth so I could get a straw into my mouth to "eat" my food thats been liquidated. Yummy. Best part is that I lost plenty of weight. Hope you recover fast and at least your power to weight ratio is going to be great afterwards.
  21. Hehehe Should just work fine, no probs buddy
  22. Books tend to complicate things a bit. Did mine upside down with daughter holding back break for me. Took all of 5 minutes to do both.
  23. Hey Slogger, you should see 2 bolts that connect the entire break system to the fork / frame. Loosen them to the point where the the sytem can move freely. I like to turn the wheel, do not know why but I do, then break the wheel whith the break lever. Do this twice and hold the break lever completely depressed. Tighten the 2 bolts ( I do not use TW personally) You should agree that the break pads should now by evenly spaced and in line with the disc. PS: I did mine yesterday when installing my new pads and she is fine. Good luck
  24. MTBer was actually in shock and nearly totaled his bike thinking about the site of greeting roadies
