  2. It is so difficult to start slowly when you feel like you can do so much more! I did too much too soon and now I am paying the price. I just started getting into running but need to back off and literally WALK before you run! Respect to all who complete their personal goals and distance. You guys are an inspiration to "noobs" like me! Happy km's all!!

  8. Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate it. @NINER_boy: When we talk custom, we usually talk custom price as well! Will PM you.
  9. Hi all you hubbers, I am interested in purchasing some wheels as my next step of upgrading. I have decided on two wheel sets and would like your guy’s thoughts on these. The wheel sets are Easton EA70 XC Disc and Shimano XT (M775). I ride occasionally but will be doing a lot more riding closer to the end of the year going forward. I weigh 110kg, so reliability is a factor. Most of my riding is/will be XC. Your inputs are appreciated. Cheers Panini
  10. What is working for me at the moment is the a combination of what everyone is saying. My goal is a healthy lifestyle, not a diet and part of a healthy lifestyle is loosing some weight. And also important is portion size. I have reduced my portion sizes. I have done USN, Evox and even Herbalife meal replacements. Now all I do is avoid fast foods and anything considered not good (in the initial phase for the weight loss) but also learning about balancing out my plate. What I mean by this is checking the calories and understanding what my food composition is per meal. So I don't cut out anything of the three main groups mainly protein, carbs and fats. All I do is make wiser decisions. Also be realistic about your weight loss goals. Everything is relative.
  11. I will be watching this closely as I will be in the same boat. 14:00 is way to early for me!
  12. Based on components, I would go for the Schwinn.
  13. Big thanks to Boyd from CyclesPro for organising me some ZERO samples and a bottle! That is what you call service!
  14. I will give this a go as well. I will contact you soon. Thanks for the reply!
  15. I know that is what I have to do as well. Baby steps. I already do not drink fizzy drinks anymore. Now to further reduce the sugar intake! Thanks for the reply.
  16. +1 - Too much advice out there to make things super confusing. Just stick to what works for you. Thanks for the reply!
  17. I have cut out alcohol and I am watching what I put into my mouth. Everyone is different and hopefully I will find what works for me. My long ride is intense as I climb and my HR is between 80-95% of max. This is when I use water and an energy drink. We taking 3-4hrs plus. The other rides, are easy ones and not as long. I only use water on these. They usually not longer than two hours anyway. Thanks for the reply.
  18. I think I will give the Powerade/Energade a go. My next long ride will be 4hr+. I will try and eat something as well as previously mentioned. This whole exercise is to do with what to do to have enough "juice" regarding nutrition to finish the K2C. This is my first race and I am very new to cycling, so I am learning as I go along! Thanks for the reply.
  19. I did the "start drinking the energy drink after 1 or 1.5 hrs" and seemed fine after the ride. I will look into 32GI. Thanks for the reply.
  20. Hi everyone. I need some advice. I am fairly new to the cycling scene. I am planning to do a 100km race in September (K2C). I am a bit on the heavy side (110kg) at the moment and need to loose some weight. My main goal for K2C is to finish in the time allocated. Now, I am learning to sit in the saddle for longer than what I am used to. This Saturday, I did a 3.5hr ride. I had 1 x 750ml energy drink with me (Fast Fuel) and 1 x 750ml water. I did not eat anything during the ride. What I have read is that if you doing such long rides, it is advisable to eat or have an energy drink, no matter what your weight. Your body can only sustain so much before it starts looking for another energy source. My question though, will the energy drink hamper my weight loss? I only use it when doing 2.5hr + rides. I also gym in the week and do short rides with water only. Any advice would be appreciated. Panini
  21. Hi all, I would like to rave about the Suplest S1 Crosscountry Buckle MTB shoes. I have really funny feet to please and finding a shoe is always a mission. I have tried Sidi, Specialised, etc and none of them worked. Then along comes Suplest. I went to CWC and decided to give it a go. WOW! What a brilliant shoe. The fact that there are no seams "seems" to have solved my shoe issue! I have only spent about 5 hours riding with them but no pains thus far. Other shoes, it's about 10mins into my ride and my feet hurt (bike fitting and all). So if you have "funny" feet, give this shoe a go. You won't be sorry. Stephan at CWC is your go to guy! Happy cycling!

Thanks for that LeTurbo. I am aware of the funeral and have made arrangements to come to shop once they have reopened later this afternoon. My condolences to the Willemse family.

Hi all you Hubbers! I would like to "Rave" and say that I received GREAT service from CWC (www.cwcycles.co.za) yesterday. I went in to look at some MTB shoes. I told Stephan (I think that is his name) that I was only looking and not going to buy at this point. I was treated like I had one million dollars! He was knowledgeable and the way he went about it was very professional yet laid back. My wife was even impressed! We fitted many shoes and discussed many points. All this great service although I wasn't going to buy at that point. I am going to buy today though at CWC! Great job CWC!! Keep it up. With such service and good prices, you will have me coming back for more!! Cheers all! Panini
  24. I think this is a great accomplishment! I live a few km's from all the start points, so I would be playing in my backyard! I think the permit fees are fair as I spend more money on petrol getting to Koeberg in a month if I go Saturday and Sunday! Well done! Keep up the good work!
  25. Spelling corrected - I was just so angry (Trevor Noah impersonation). Intention was the google image search results!
