  1. When doing 100km + you or any ride you need to prepare and if dont then dont blame the race. To have water point generally every 7-9 km was very good, and well thought out.
  2. This is great news, that MTB riders can now have this and Fountains, and Groenkloof all in one go.
  3. I also suggest that you ride with DarknDirty if you want to ride in the evenings, the pace is comfortable and safety is paramount. I have been out with them a few times and will do again and again.
  4. Its not light, but you dont feel it. If we redo the wheels etc and tyres then lower, but i reality for a full sus 29er its not too bad. The Fisher 29er hard tail weighs in at 11dead built with same componenets as Ellsworth, that an awesome MTB.
  5. My Evolve has been built for training and long hours, so its XTR complete, Chris King headset, BB, Hubs on 29er Arch Stans Rims with Conti Mountain Kings and Candy SL pedals with Ritchey WCS bars, seatpost and stem on my little bike scale comes in at 13.2kg ready to ride. I Belive Stans has brought out a rim on a DT SWiss hub that will see a wheel weight in the region of 1400 for pair, me dont really like tooooo lite items.
  6. I also live and ride in Centurion area, but mostly head to Groenkloof for safety. If there has come nothing of the SAPS comms then there needs to be a little more comms on the Hub and in association with FPC and CL who generally ride in these areas. I am tired of riding where i need to be armed in case of jacking, we rode through a jacking some months ago and all was fine, buts its uncalled for. The SAPS need to come ride with us to see whats up. FPC are doing ride on Teusday and Thursday morning as well as Saturday mornings, we should get the two goups together. If all else fails get guns, knives, ketties, bottlles anything and fight back and defend.
  7. Agree agree agree, how difficult can it be to put back into your pocket the empty sachet. If its really gonna be that much effort then buy a gu bottle and take that on the ride - and besides iy does not give you sticky gu fingers during the ride. I am all for the idea that riders should be excluded if found dropping items on races and being simply dumb. We have enough filth in our country without adding to it on our rides.
  8. You should ride the Ellsworth, get to your local dealer and take a ride, it feels great, everything works well. I have a Gary Fisher 29" Hardtail as well and when it comes to deciding the Ellsworth wins 90%of the time.
  9. Hamsterdog, there is a 26" at FPC Brooklyn or Southdowns for sale now, its really awesome in real life.
  10. We went for a easy ride but evertime we stopped you came past without looking like stressing and straining - killed us............
  11. Yep, and its a biiiiigggg wheels. No little wheels in the neck of the woods.
  12. Thats TI double G errrr. and its real.
  13. If start times and daily temps are really such an issue then maybe we race indoors in climate controlled arenas or move around the world in search of near perfect conditions, thus making it too expensive to ride anyway........
  14. The moment you get on a Ellsworth you will realise that its the best, maybe not the lightest, but without a doubt the most fun you can have on a MTB, oh and they look good as well.
  15. I am currently on SPD and was lookig at Candy, good or bad move - please help
  16. Cycle Lab in Centurion Pta have some as well. Ask your local dealer to get hold of the Conti Agent, they got awsome Mountain Kngs - running them on my full suss and loving them. Bontrager XDX on hardtail also very good.
