    Bar Ends

I am battling to decide on whether to run wider bars with bar ends or a narrower bar without bar ends. What is the feeling out there or is this one of those never ending forum topics that is down to personal choice. Is there a diff between longer rides and shorter one day events when making this choice. Please help.
  2. Gotta say there are some veeerrryyy hot local ladies on mountian bikes that will give those "foreigners" a real run for their cash
  3. He OPC were you from making such ugry comments on a 29er, we are bigger and faster and better looking and nicer and last but not least faster........
  4. I 2008 I started riding a 29er and I was laughed at along the lines "oh look it a penny farthing" and now 2010 I have eight riding mates on 29er bikes. Earlier there were many who said it wont work for varoius reasons ............. works fine for those who ride them and take the small effort to set up correctly, much like setting up any bike you ride. Yes they are great a 29er dual is the most fun you can have on a bike. I have hard tails and duels and its problem deciding what to ride 'cause they all veeeerrrrryyyyy nice
  5. Unless you are a elite rider, all we want to do is to enjoy the ride and not have to take a dew days off to recover after a ride - we have jobs, so why try to be superman and run a 1X9 when you can have the comfort of the ratios that will see have a enjoyable ride.
  6. Before we all decide that this is a Epic Fail, go read the theory behind the groupset, it takes cadence, suspension travel into consideration.
  7. Got a Gary Fischer Superfly not really built lite at 11.3kg ready to ride, and a Ellsworth at 13.2kg full suss. Should get the new sanat Cruz this week in at 11.0kg built fairly lite for long distance.
  8. The only reason I enter a Due South is to see what's nice. I then go find another store to purchase from. Its a principal matter for me not buy from a store were it sounds like a 2am disco and the staff are tooooo indulged in their own stuff and simply diss the customer. I have had too many bad times in Due South stores to tempt me to part with any cash into their coffers.
  9. All this fighting talk of i am better here or this is better there is really not the way to settle this matter, thats going rear its head for a looonnnnggg time to to come still. The ONLY way is to ride the 29er ............. then all will become clear
  10. Bike shops like motor dealers, sport stores whatever all have a bad day. I have not had a bed day there since i found them. Andre is one of the best around and i am sure it was a small mishap.
  11. I suggest you head back to the store and tell the dude you wanna test ride the 29er. Once you have done i can nearly assure you that you will not back onto a 26" wheel ever again. I have a hardtail and full suss 29er's and cannot find a reason to ride a 26 again.
  12. Assuming that the chain and cassette are fine and in good shape, more than likely there is some dirt in the cable housing thats keeping the cable from shifting on time and hence you get the delayed shift.
  13. No they are NOT that great at all. They are nice when the weather is hot and dry and you keep moving. The moment there is some moisture in the air and you stop for a moment they mist up and for the remiander of the ride you battle to see and keep clean, wherease the Oakley stays dry and fine.
  14. Hey Kiwi Stop teasing and tell more about the 29er full suss...............pleeaassee
  15. The moment you ride a 29er you will feel the differance and realise that the life span of 26" is limited. Insofar the size goes there are really small people riding them with huge successs, Gary Fisher make a 29er with a 15" frame. Big wheels are better - simple. The argument could be the following: when you take your suv off road do you put smaller wheels on or bigger ones?
  16. On 29ers we dont fell obstacles........ we destroy them. Going to start selling off wife, kids garden tolls anything for one of those.
  17. Hells bells thats nice
  18. Me never gonna litter if my mates make me sweep 5 races..........
  19. Have to agree with blockhouse, some of the climbs in the 2009 were looooonnnnnnnnngggggg and the downs were short. If distance is all you are after look somewhere else. Yes the entry is steep, but all told it is a wonderfull ride that is a must do. The 2010 should be good as Leon Evans is already on board with the route.
  20. Hey BigH, it says "clean our back yard" ie yours all by yourself......... Maybe it should have read that if we all do our own bit it will add up, simple mafs actually.
  21. Stop ranting and raving about other people and wear your own helmet, and keep your own gell sachets in your own pocket and ride on your own left side. Any group or discipline of sport or activity will always attract attention from those who do not partake in it. Anybody who complains about cyclists, more than likely dont ride a bike themselves, all we need to do is to clean our own backyard.
  22. Been using the gell flasks since begining of the year, the runners have been with them for a while. Once you get used to it there is no going back to anything................................ AND IT DONT LITTER. Whasp have the bottles to refill and i belive Pace and Power are looking at it for November odd.
  23. Having had the time on motorcycles both adventure and superbike the idea of any form of enjoyment on our roades is out of the question. The mindset towards any other road user whether motorcyle or road bikes is really bad. There is no real solution to the problem of road safety towards cyclists - stay off the roads.
  24. Also look at the Ellsworth and Gary Fisher. GF got a nice range.
  25. Hey there. I have been on my 29ers for more than a year now and dont find any differant from 26 ridiing in terms of HR etc, all i find is that its more efficient than a 26. Maybe you trying to push to hard to keep your assmed pace, dont try with the 29er it comes when when you dont expect it.
