    947 RideJoburg route

Looks amazing! I'd like to go & give it a go. Have you ever been shot at though? ????
  2. Perfect day for riding at Cradle today ????
  3. Joburg Classic 2021.gpx I've created one based on their google maps version loaded on the events page. I think this is going to be a cold one! ????
  4. Thanks for the input everyone ???? We're mid 30's, so don't think age should be a problem yet. I'm in IT (I see lots of positions available on LinkedIn) and my wife is a GP. So far it looks like she will struggle a bit more as she has exams etc to complete before she can start looking for work. This process is also not that straight forward (unless we are over complicating it). I'll get cracking on the documentation and start reaching out to companies and people.
  5. Hello All My wife and I have been toying with the idea of moving to NZ for a while now. Long story short - our timing was a little off with the whole pandemic thing, but we’re “slowly” getting everything together and will hopefully be joining the expat list sooner rather than later. I guess I’m giving a little “heads up”. Apparently networking is the name of the game, so I’m starting off in the hobby forum. Any stories / advice you can share is welcome. Visa sponsored jobs even more so ????
  6. Same here! Very excited though! ????
  7. At this stage I'm happy with any race that takes place - I'm in
  8. And during the winter months?
  9. I'll just drop these here - managed to squeeze in a couple of rides during a 2 week break: The Savages made their mark My apologies if the post is a tad long.
  10. Hi Stan Engelbrecht Thank you for the response. I thought as much, hence me asking I'll explore the surrounding dirt roads. Thanks for sharing the old route - I'll get that onto my computer too. In any case, the sights are amazing in that part of the world!
  11. I can't believe I'm going to miss this... I'm heading back to GP 1 week before the event ???? I've downloaded the routes. Can one ride the entire route before the event date without upsetting farmers/locals?
  12. Or just time for an upgrade
  13. I had a similar issue and it ended up being my rear wheel skewer being loose (by just enough for it to click). Maddening!
  14. So is mine and my nose is burning!
  15. Seems open to all if you look under 'additional information' http://www.cycleevents.co.za/road-events/rapport-tour-2021/#more-24620
  16. So on another note - is SBR open yet?
  17. Thanks for the input - it helps. I've had mixed feedback from various people, so it makes sense that it boils down to personal preference. I think I should just bite the bullet once. The looks generally don't bother me that much, but I'm definitely after a more comfortable ride. That being said, almost everyone says that they feel the carbon bars absorb road noise better. I'll go have a look at the Ritchey too.
  18. Would you rather go the aero route?
  19. Hi. This is my first "New Topic" on leHub I want to upgrade my handlebars - Older (probably around 2013) Giant Connect alu. I'm building up an older frame, so this gives me a reason to upgrade the components on my current bike. At least, this way I have approval from my SO I'm looking around for good deals and was wondering which bars the good people on the Hub prefer. I'm currently looking at the Fizik Cyrano 00 and Token Arsenal carbon road bar (as there are pretty good deals on both atm). Anyone own one of these or can make other suggestions? Thanks in advance! 475

  21. It would be best to get it checked out - imho. I was told by my lbs that my frame was cracked and needed to be discarded as scanning and repairing the frame would cost more than buying a new frame... Long story short - after I purchased a new frame, a fellow cyclist recommended I take the old frame to https://carbonbikerepair.co.za/ They did a stress test for free and determined it was paint damage. I was skeptical and paid for a full health check - turned out it was paint damage... So, to save yourself unnecessary worrying/money, have it checked out. 475
  22. I'll be giving this little "bad boy" a go ???? *edit: And now with the file attached ????
  23. Did you manage to get a pace-line of any sort going?
  24. Sounds good - I'm happy to do my part.
  25. 19.86 put me in B
