  1. I plan on replying my 5X with Apple, more likely the series 7 or 8, once this one dies. No point replacing a working watch, in my case.
  2. Some hike-a-bike at conties during the Enduro. Such a lekker day, weather played along nicely More: https://www.instagram.com/p/CH5S-NtHX3l
  3. It is however considerably more to cover single items, you loose out on the cross subsidy discount. So my expensive bike (80k) would end up being 314, pretty much the same as JaSure as a single item.
  4. I know, still falls in with content cover, just specified high value items, the specified makes up most of my cover. 179 is the bikes portion of my cover.
  5. The problem is people don’t fully understand how insurance works, and I have seen it on a forum thread discussing JaSure, the person assumed the bikes were still “automatically” covered at home under general content cove and JaSure was only for when you left the house. Not realizing that high value portables need to be specified regardless. I was always one who read everything I signed, never took policies over the phone until after I read the policy docs. I even spent 2 years working in insurance systems development and that’s when you really learn the ins and outs. Like how many people notify their insurer or broker when they get a new phone, someone mugs you in the parking lot your SOL. That phones not covered unless your broker replies with confirmation or your finished your call with your direct provider and who the hell does that in the shop. That is why I chose Naked, I have an understanding that most do not as to how the business works, how they are able to offer such low premiums and excesses, where they are saving costs and adding value. I got my new iPad today, it was insured before I got to the door.
  6. A full month was over 300, almost double what I am paying for both an the excess on the expensive bike would have been almost 5x. But if I am going to pay more there needs to be considerably more value than a pause button.
  7. I looked at them, they came back at like 126 for 1 bike for 1 day. I lol’d
  8. Naked (Hollard), as part of my content cover.
  9. 2 bikes, full cover with 1.5k excess at 179pm for 120k value.
  10. I was very unimpressed with the FiveTens, had to replace them in like 5 or 6 months as they were worn through.l, by which point the supplier refused to honor the warranty.
  11. Been waiting for these for a while, the Ions have been getting a bit loose in the tooth, they will be migrated to daily shoes.
  12. Took too long for them to get locally, but Amazon shipped ended up being cheaper anyway.
  13. Nope, just found it less suitable than I would have liked. Mine where never noisy, I had 2 of them. My current solution is just more cost effective, no need to have 2 full sets of everything. The expensive stuff can simply move from bike to bike, but each one can have all their cheap stuff. I found “hiding” things away easier and neater with straps.
  14. I ended up taking my rails off, I have my spare tube, slugs and plug in a strap on the seat tube. Tools are strapped to the down tube. Got the giant clutch to stash a co2 in the head tube. Hand pump in the hip bag. With enough time and money, you can get almost everything nearly on a bike.
  15. I use the finish line ceramic in winter, but their wax line is either really *** or I got a dud bottle.
  16. Can’t say I spend much time smelling my line. The light novelty wore off for me half way though the first chain. Their normal dry line keeps it just as quiet. But hey, what’s important is it works. We do spend silly amounts of money on our bikes, who really cares on what. Hell I have a Fidlock in transit. Lol
  17. I never saw any benefits of that over their normal dry lube, and at twice the price for half the quantity.
  18. I worked in insurance, I used to write the software to do the risk analysis, I know exactly what to look for. You must also remember these new companies save a **** ton of money by not having legacy systems, automating most of the processes, using credit cards over debit orders. Immensely cuts down on costs, staff to maintain legacy systems is foooooooking expensive. They get to benefit from newer tech and effectively cheaper, yet equally if not more capable developers than those maintain software written 20 years ago.
  19. Full comprehensive, I’ve got everything covered with Naked. I pay 176 in total for 2 bikes totaling 120k. Vehicles on the pricey side but I’ve only had a 4 wheeler license for just over a year, and yet they still cheaper than the likes of Discovery, Santam, outsurance and a few others.
  20. The problem I see with JaSure is the price, what I am paying now per month is less than what they charge for a single day., so the ability to turn it off is mute. On top of that their excess is 10% and on my bike that’s 8k whereas now I pay a fixed 1k. No sense paying a higher premium AND a higher excess, especially not 8x higher. That is pretty much the problem with specialist and adhoc insurers, there is a risk cross subsidy when you have larger policies or more items insured, that’s why you will often find vehicle and content will individually be cheaper when both covered with the same insurer vs having them as individuals at that insurer. And almost all the time, high value portable items will be much cheaper when bundles as part of home vs individual. My insurer maxes at 50k for an individual item cover, a 50k bike is R168, put that same bike as part of content and it’s R86. Same cover, same excess vastly different price as you loose out on the cross subsidy discount. JaSures only value proposition is the ability to pause, but why would I pay R134 and 8k excess for 1 day when I can pay R126 and 1k excess for an entire month.
  21. Depends on if you can mount it to a support beam maybe , drywall alone probably not going to support the weight of a bike against a single mount point. I had my wall mount pull out of brick and it was rather for 15kg and was hanging a 12kg bike. After that I replaced it with roll bolts
  22. Not sure about improved, it looks prettier but takes 10x longer to do anything.
  23. Yeah, each time I have contacted them for a quote everything was out of stock. Stopped bothering.
