  1. ... btw, the weather is looking real good for Sunday.
  2. E... but will probably drop down. my problem is that i don't really have legs for the first 60 to 90 mins, even with a warm up.
  3. i emailed racetec asking when they will include the 99er in the seeding results... no reply but they did update it since then. guess it was too late before they sent out the seeding. Mamil will you go for re-seeding or still start in F?
  4. i'm there. just looking for an incident-free race and see how i do up vissershok this time. you don't have to smash yourself either, you did great at the 99er!
  5. PPA's reply on facebook: PPA members will be re-seeded before numbers are printed.
  6. was actually replying to the "The trend across most races is a decline. " bit... i get that people are still miffed about the 2017 cancellation and the 2015 short race, but what is CTCT doing to up the entries? smaller races have some random prizes. afaik there are no random prizes for CTCT. it could attract a couple more entries (possibly)
  7. gave up alcohol last year. it just wasn't doing it for me.
  8. surprisingly, the Stellenbosch Cycle Tour, 99er and Durbie Dash have not declined over the last year (i'm only basing this on the stats of those who finished) with the One Tonner i'm not sure as the race was "cancelled" even though I had a time and got great seeding from it. CTCT need to do more to promote or otherwise limit entries to less so that the charities get more support.
  9. yah, that's too early for these folks. i see them after 06:00.
  10. it's amazing how many (more) cyclists I see on the road now, since the seeding came out.
  11. awesome stuff Mamil you even capitalised the "1"
  12. are we going to see a live stream of the shaving?
  13. shout out to the gentleman who was on the R44 waiting for his friend, you were in the right place at my wrong time. sorry I never even got your name, I was in such in headspin and my back ached from my dropped seat. there was another person, who shall not be named, whose multitool I could see in his pocket but he replied "no, I don't have one". Karma got you as you finished several minutes behind me. in the end I finished halfway in my group, 8 minutes behind Mamil, not bad for a guy with a screaming back ache.
  14. your result should be in there, since the 99er's is. I feel better about my SCT 2019 DNF now. I had great fitness, but I triple punctured. in the 99er my seatbolt came loose got some roadside help from a kind gentleman waiting for a friend to catch up... at least got the chance to finish this time.
  15. so... i'm going to rant a bit. last week i tried to explain to racetec that the 2018 CTCT should have only 5 penalty points as it is a premier seeding event, not 10. Their first reply was rather generic "older events get a slight penalty" bs. so, i try to help by sending a screenshot of my 99er seeding results which was a month before. i get this reply: "Hi. The 99er is a seeding event, while the Cycle Tour is not. That is why the Cycle tour has a bigger penalty. Regards Seeding team" I then try to call racetec and speak to the person who is giving me such useless replies, but instead I get a friendly lady who tried to help me, but she didn't quite know what premier seeding events were and asked me to email some info to her. any how, no reply. I eventually just sent them a link to the CTCT website and a screenshot detailing that CTCT 2018 is indeed a Premier event. had a look at the http://seeding.cycletour.co.za/findme.aspx?ss=2&eid=2019 to see that it is now fixed, as well as this year's 99er results added. Turns out SCT 2019 wasn't the last Premier seeding event any how, i can understand now why the seeding for some/many races are a bit off.
  16. look for the telephone line that crosses the road, that's where it ends. otherwise, 3km from the 4 way stop sign
  17. i love/hate that hill. i had some motivation last year with 3 lovely ladies a few metres in front of me. without them, i might have stalled.
  18. i checked the cycle tour seeding website and it's been updated. http://seeding.cycletour.co.za/riderseeding.aspx
  19. slid out in 2017, trying to avoid another cyclist that slid out. gear levers took a bit of beating, but bike was okay to make it to the end. that said, i "prefer" the wind, sorta. the long term weather still looks good for sunday, but it can change quickly.
  20. depends how hard you're going to ride it. my wheel went all wobbly after a few rides.
  21. Rode hoogekraal yesterday and the trail is in an excellent condition. Spotted one massive cobra on the Fair Cape side. Fortunately it was about 5 metres off the singletrack. It seemed to have gotten as much of a fright as I did. Be careful out there... Looked pretty much like this one:
  22. you will have to change up your lumo orange warmers to something that matches the board. guess my gripe is that the whole pink thing doesn't go with the stealth look of my bike.
  23. this board only needs to be on the bike for 10 months... but since i have a bottelary permit, the tygerberg permit will be hidden away behind it.
  24. also thank you to the trail team for their swift action by removing the trees that fell across the Ribbok track.
  25. i'll stick with you. it'll be my first time doing the race, so i'm not going to push for time
