  1. i'm in for the 78km. just aiming to finish as I'm not used to the longer type MTB events.
  2. checked mine too after 4500 km/2 years/300 hours of mostly trail riding (>90%), almost no wear. guy at my lbs likes to speak in km, but he rides a lot on the road with his mtb as well. i believe a mtb should be used on the trails for most of it's life.
  3. 8/9/10 speed, same spacer
  4. so... i borrowed the thru axle adapters from a friend with a kickr gen 4. the drive side adapter i got with my gen 3 seems to be the issue. the gen 4's adapter has a snug fit and is machined thinner and works a treat. hope i can get the standalone parts from evobikes.
  5. in the past week there has been a bike jacking and a stone throwing incident on the trail. seems like it's some kids up to serious mischief.
  6. you really do seem like a statistician. so... do i divide my 2019 time by this -> (0.8556952984 x 2019 race time + 0.9321198196)... or is it only the bit in brackets?
  7. don't think that we get inflated seeding, it's just that the beta algorithm is so hard to predict. i had a torrid time at the 99er (not a PPA event) and a great race at TdPPA, but my seeding for the two races is exactly the same. aim of the game is just do more races.
  8. ah well, maybe it's the cycling gods telling me that i'm not ready to be upgraded yet. It was my first start in F in a while (I normally hang about in G) and this time I managed to hang on while my legs were warming up. The plan was to help out with the pacing after 75km when I'm properly warmed up. When the pace dropped at 65km, I had some dissonance which I managed to fight until 70km. It was almost a deja vu of the Durbie Dash when we hit Malmesbury road... somehow I dropped the group, but it was too far to go alone so I dropped back and tried not to push the pace so hard. Got 9 riders to go with me down Adderley and leave the group behind and we crossed the line together. Was a great day out, so relieved to have no mechanicals. PS - Mamil, did you drop your bottle on Vryguns? The rider next to me couldn't avoid a dropped bottle and rode right over it and just shook his head afterwards, I think he was too relieved to utter anything.
  9. and i thought i got a good result today my seeding stays unchanged then.
  10. I found the lack of attendance odd as this is the first "Premier Seeding Event" to see a decline. The Sportifs have been pretty well attended, on the other hand.
  11. thanks. where do i purchase these? will also give evobikes a shout, bought the trainer there.
  12. Up until now I've been using a bike with a quick release on my Wahoo Kickr. When I changed out the end caps to fit a bike with a thru axle, I get this horrible sounding grinding noise when I pedal. Took the bike off the trainer, checked that everything was fitted correctly and put it back on and that grinding noise was still there. Checked bike alignment, tried various combinations of gears etc. I reckon it's the cap that goes over on the drive side that's rotating over the cassette's retention nut. Should I grease it or is there more to it than just changing out the end caps?
  13. probably next week tuesday i reckon, as the entries are closing tonight.
  14. ... btw, the weather is looking real good for Sunday.
  15. E... but will probably drop down. my problem is that i don't really have legs for the first 60 to 90 mins, even with a warm up.
  16. i emailed racetec asking when they will include the 99er in the seeding results... no reply but they did update it since then. guess it was too late before they sent out the seeding. Mamil will you go for re-seeding or still start in F?
  17. i'm there. just looking for an incident-free race and see how i do up vissershok this time. you don't have to smash yourself either, you did great at the 99er!
  18. PPA's reply on facebook: PPA members will be re-seeded before numbers are printed.
  19. was actually replying to the "The trend across most races is a decline. " bit... i get that people are still miffed about the 2017 cancellation and the 2015 short race, but what is CTCT doing to up the entries? smaller races have some random prizes. afaik there are no random prizes for CTCT. it could attract a couple more entries (possibly)
  20. gave up alcohol last year. it just wasn't doing it for me.
  21. surprisingly, the Stellenbosch Cycle Tour, 99er and Durbie Dash have not declined over the last year (i'm only basing this on the stats of those who finished) with the One Tonner i'm not sure as the race was "cancelled" even though I had a time and got great seeding from it. CTCT need to do more to promote or otherwise limit entries to less so that the charities get more support.
  22. yah, that's too early for these folks. i see them after 06:00.
  23. it's amazing how many (more) cyclists I see on the road now, since the seeding came out.
  24. awesome stuff Mamil you even capitalised the "1"
  25. are we going to see a live stream of the shaving?
