  1. 200 days and a couple of hours to go. let's do this.
  2. Blackheath Water Treatment Plant ... and Skilpadvlei managed to dodge the rain, but not the wind
  3. Contermanskloof during a break in the rain yesterday Wasn't too muddy, the track drained fairly well. The mud made it nice and playful
  4. it seems i never stopped and looked at the sign. found my way there, thanks!
  5. R50 at Engen Soneike
  6. Contermanskloof MTB
  7. is there a sign to "hook a right"? i probably missed as i was gasping for air.
  8. we were chatting to each other at the start about how great our bikes are ;-)
  9. Mamil do you perhaps own a Trek bike?
  10. my bad... i meant we usually get registration info regarding an event. i got the usual funride emails, yes. the time on there states 08:00 and the event created on facebook states 07:00.
  11. was there any email info sent out about the event? if so, i didn't get it. do we just proceed to the venue and register there? from what time?
  12. shot for the great video!
  13. had a slight incident with a tree on Thursday, so had to use my Hardtail for the Easter weekend. I've really not missed all that kidney shaking on rocky descents. The traction is definitely less as the backwheel bounces over rocks and stuff. This does teach you to pick the smoothest lines out on the trails and to time your braking better.
  14. if meerendal is the type of riding you do, then i'd say go for the hardtail. if longer rides and comfort are your thing, then go for a dual sus. my calves tended to cramp up after doing a few rocky/bumpy descents as your legs are the shock absorbers for the rear on a HT.
  15. Bottelary Hills Absolutely perfect day!
  16. i'm lost. rear derailleur on a single speed???
  17. I was thinking the same. have to go home to get the mtb first. or tomorrow... the tears might get in the way
  18. he never knew any better. why didn't he just use flat pedals like the legends before him? (just using your train of thought) never wore a helmet either.
  19. is the event fully booked? don't see an "enter" knoppie anywhere.
  20. any suggestions on where to park on sunday? and no... i'm not going to ride 35 km from home to the start.
  21. i tweeted the PPA and asked why we never see that roaming sign out in the north and stellies area... all they said was that the company that was contracted to do the roaming was only for the city bowl area. there was no further news on this. so my suggestion would be that those peak times of the year when we see more cyclists out and about that we get people more aware. It's my 1st year of this cycling thing, so I've seen a spike in cyclists starting September /Spring and the resolutionists in January. maybe even start another fred specifically for awareness rides and not just ppa-bashing 'cause after all it would be nice if they can give us assistance with flyers and posters etc.
  22. could we have organised awareness rides once or twice per year? just a slow roll like we did on Saturday?
