  1. it's fine i guess as long as they don't want to impatiently whirrrrr past me on the climbs.
  2. Very emotional ride. Great to see so many come out and support. Sorry for the rubbish camera angle. Also, thanks to the riders who went out to Joostenberg/the Silos. Was lekker riding with you.
  3. finally got a babysitter organised. see you in the morning.
  4. i would also recommend a biokineticist for that knee. the process is long term though, so you'll have to be patient.
  5. but with the wind, who knows. the crosswinds can get a bit nasty.
  6. http://results.racetec.co.za/results_by_event.aspx?RID=2016&EN=Sun%2006%2F03%2F2016%20Cape%20Town%20Cycle%20Tour%202016%20%28109km%29&SG=2F there's six pages of results, but you could be good for 3:30-ish if you hang on to the front guys.
  7. Asara Wine Estate Stellenbosch
  8. what's your problem brandon? it's in relation to the 99er. i thought this was the thread about it. thanks for your input.
  9. thanks guys, sent them my garmin gps file of the race.
  10. so the racetec results are up... but i don't have a result checked on racetec app and it only shows that i crossed the start line. feels like a waste of 102km and bloody vissershok.
  11. how is the parking at the event? how early should i get there so that i don't have to rush to the start line?
  12. 2D for me. My 1st one! will be a year and one week since i started cycling.
  13. Sunset at Hoogekraal
  14. it seems vitality is receiving racetec results automatically now. did a 36km mtb on the weekend and i never bothered submitting as a 25-49km event is only 300 points. ps - really think they should distinguish between mtb and road events though as doing the same distance in a mtb race is a lot more effort. (on my part, any way) and after all, their qualifying criteria for the high performance assessment distinguishes between the two.
  15. forgot to say - the branded water bottle and t shirt was a nice touch (and unexpected) at the end.
  16. the stats were a bit off... firstly the (36km) ride was just over 40km and the ascent was about 550m. (except people who used their phone app, the ascent could have been anything) the best moment of the race was this guy behind me shouting to come past while he could see i'm taking it easy behind someone else, and when he got his chance to pass, he faceplanted himself! i tried not to laugh too hard and just carried on past the scene. was a nice race overall, the scenery was awesome, as Rouxenator's photos show.
  17. Garden Route Trail Park Perfect Weather today for riding Went OTB after hitting a 40cm deep mud puddle It didn't seem that deep, really. Also... couple of trees tried to knock my helmet off. Duuuuck!
  18. The View Point at the Heads
  19. Meandering about in Knysna Lucky I got out early, it got up to 38 degrees today
  20. man... i only started cycling last year March and I've never seen so many cyclists out on the roads/trails. there was a slight spike from the 1st of September for about two weeks and then a bit of a lull. but now
  21. A lovely day for the beach Bloubergstrand
  22. i see to do the high performance fitness assessment, you had to finish certain races within specified times. how do they check this? do you have to submit your results to discovery? i qualified with my time for the Stellies Cycle Tour, but didn't bother submitting a result as it was 600 points already for a 2 hour "workout".
  23. it's not that hard really. my cholestorol is always high, so i don't get max points for my health check, but despite that, my goal was achieved by April last year. Should be about the same this year.
  24. not 1000, but 3000 for races that are timed and verified - eg using Racetec. 600 max per event if you use a hrm AND you're on the high performance category.
