  1. Thought it was a good question, they seem to have taken all of the precautions, yet icycling feels it's going to be cancelled unless they make it a Western Cape only event. . . which is interesting in it's own right. . . Personally we are bringing as much water with as we can fit in the car in an effort to not use more than we really have to.
  2. Why would it be cancelled?
  3. Yeah, I am waiting for the armchair experts to pop back up and defend there stand point now. . . I do like how they have gone the inclusion route with an attempt to involve the communities instead of policing the situation. This will have a much more positive impact than I think we realise.
  4. Thanks for posting the links
  5. For all the nay-sayers and negative experts, please go and watch the Cape Town Cycle Tour's video they uploaded today. Gives good insight into the fact that (SHOCKER ) they are actually addressing the issues we have been bringing up over and over again.
  6. See you guys there! Starting with my father-in-law in HL, playing domestique for the day!
  7. Aren't you gonna do it anymore?
  8. Since this is the topic for the Argus, I'm gonna go with the former. . .
  9. Yeah, especially when they close at 1pm the day before the race I read on the website about number collection on the day, you can just go and confirm maybe?
  10. Just under 7 weeks to go!!!!
  11. Is this still the thread about the bike race that's happening in a few months time?
  12. Better keep it in your arsenal for the next 2 months or so
  13. Yeah, read through his comments this morning, was basically spewing the same drivel that Mr X did. . . . No surprise someone made the connection and booted him, just a matter of time till he comes back as someone else and continues his interesting hijacking of threads with political twaddle
  14. He's been banned by the looks of it
  15. Didn't want to point it out yesterday when Trivium/Mr X started blaming tourists, but if the reports are too be believed, it seems that the residents of Cape Town are doing a fine job of running out of water all on there own. That's if the reports are to be believed, I have no doubt that most people are making a concerted effort to save water, but unfortunately there are alot of people that think the rules don't apply to them. I saw it in Bloem a few years ago when we had water restriction, no watering of gardens with sprinklers were allowed, so people just did it at 2am when they thought no one would notice. Easy to point fingers at someone else when the blame should be shared. There is some old saying that goes: "Don't point a finger at someone as there is 3 pointing back" or something like that. . .
  16. And no real point to the argument either? If we were ever to discover what the biggest issue was, will that help us sleep better at night? Or are we then gonna doubt it? Or come up with theories as to why the others had more influence. I presume it was a combination of the 3 issues that led to the stoppage. Please don't debate now what percentage each problem contributed to the stoppage, that's a can of worms we need to keep firmly closed(or open a separate thread for). Either way, it's a year later, the next one is coming up, we can either squabble about the same thing we have been for the last year or get over it(yes, life moves on, so should you) and prepare ourselves for the race. When you crying up chappies and suikerbossie you will wish you had trained more instead of typing away on your keyboard about how useless everyone is and how doomed this event is to never happen again.
  17. So in an attempt to get this thread back in the right direction, can anyone confirm if the road surface has been worked on?
  18. Aren't you just a bundle of positivity. . .
  19. When does start times normally come out?
  20. Any particular reason why?
  21. Hard to use something as an excuse if you unequivocally deny that it will be a problem and even going so far as to say you will donate less to charity due to the added expense of having a zero footprint. Doubt they looking for an easy escape route either. . . .
  22. Amped for my first one! Holiday injured the fitness a bit though, but we will see!
  23. Do you know something we don't?
  24. Oh goodness. . . . Please refer to the last 39 pages for your answer as well as most everyone else's to your proposed question
  25. True that, Naval Hill doesn't really count but it's almost the best we have haha
