  1. Wow, respect to those people for helping out.
  2. On a side note, I notice the dooms day naysayers are very quiet after yesterdays announcement that they managed to find an extra MONTH worth of water. . .
  3. I think we should refrain from posting in here unless it's to say that the seedings are out. . . Makes a person excited when you see someone has posted in this thread but it's not about the seeding
  4. Okay okay, when I posted it I realised they don't really have such things, however the point of the argument stands. . .
  5. Much prefer the 50 different solutions and ideas to the sensationalism and general crazy jumping to conclusions of most people. Everyone should jump on the bandwagon of solutions and how to deal with the problem, rather than jumping on the political bandwagon of fear mongering and doomsday predictions. We have enough politicians , we definitely don't need anymore! Next thing the Facebook tannies are gonna requesting that the tunnel be closed and only western capers allowed through, or build a wall trump-style to keep the rest of the country from coming and using all their water. . .
  6. Oh, I'm definitely coming, flew down for precisely 24h last year to only have them cancel it one me. . . Massive bummer! So I ain't missing it for the world this year. As I have said, I am bringing as much water with in the car as we can, and I have already started training the fiance with the 2 min shower thing. She is not a fan haha
  7. Agreed, usually at total disregard for logic and fact. I'm just tired of being made to feel guilty about wanting to come to Cape Town, as if I'm going to steal all the water. . . . Go tell the people in Bantry Bay and Clifton to stop watering their massive lawns before you tell me to not come and take water from you. . .
  8. I am honestly shocked that this thread seems to follow the same pattern on a almost daily basis. If you can't be bothered to read the previous discussions on the thread related to the issue, and you can't be bothered to listen to the facts and come in to the argument with a closed or emotionally driven mind, please think a couple of hundred times before posting the same argument that has been rehashed, that you somehow think you have attacked from an angle no one has thought of before. The organisers are doing there best to mitigate our impact, and based on most replies, most people seem to be aware of the problem and are bringing there own water down and practicing the quick shower thing, so it's not like we are going to be wasting water Zoolander style, willy nilly spraying it everywhere. I think we need to create a separate thread for people to read before posting here, so we don't have to read the same argument over and over again
  9. Would be a great idea, but not sure how keen he would be. . . Much happier to suffer on his own than to ask for help haha
  10. I have a feeling the racetec website might be getting a lot more traffic than normal over the next few days!!!
  11. Keyboard warriors and facebook tannies are just that, criticise from far, but offer no real solutions. There is a better chance of my 60 year old father in law doing a sub 3 this year than those people doing anything other than sitting and flapping their electronic mouths
  12. Slight mistake, it already has the continual oil drip built in, the kit just pumps it back up into the reservoir. . . Hear they wear out quickly though, gets used too much. . .
  13. In between oil changes?
  14. It's on Facebook, but it's only live at 3pm
  15. Is this unique to the Fast One?
  16. That's so cool!!! Do you just add water or how?
  17. Okay, I'm gonna be completely honest here, I don't really get the point that you are trying to get across, and that's fine. You obviously think it's a good idea to shorten the route as it will alleviate the water used by the event(that you have already admitted makes no real impact on the actual consumption of the city), and that's good, I just don't get it. If you admit that it makes no difference, and that it's the thought/sentiment of the people staying away that's gonna cause awareness, then cool, I get that, Spinnekop is already doing that in solidarity with the Western Cape(although I have a sneaking suspicion earlier in this thread he also stated he can't afford to come cause it's too expensive bla bla bla, however I am not sure what the outcome was and couldn't be bothered to go back and read), as I am sure many people will. Let's just hope some rain falls from the sky and sorts this whole mess out so we can get back to discussing the wind and the goodie bags
  18. Thought it was a good question, they seem to have taken all of the precautions, yet icycling feels it's going to be cancelled unless they make it a Western Cape only event. . . which is interesting in it's own right. . . Personally we are bringing as much water with as we can fit in the car in an effort to not use more than we really have to.
  19. Why would it be cancelled?
  20. Yeah, I am waiting for the armchair experts to pop back up and defend there stand point now. . . I do like how they have gone the inclusion route with an attempt to involve the communities instead of policing the situation. This will have a much more positive impact than I think we realise.
  21. Thanks for posting the links
  22. For all the nay-sayers and negative experts, please go and watch the Cape Town Cycle Tour's video they uploaded today. Gives good insight into the fact that (SHOCKER ) they are actually addressing the issues we have been bringing up over and over again.
  23. See you guys there! Starting with my father-in-law in HL, playing domestique for the day!
