  1. Got some feedback from mechanic. He has picked up the teflon sleeve on the bushings on left side of fork was torn off. So this is why the stanchion was damaged so quickly. In the one pic attached, the teflon sleeve is hanging down, in the second pic the piece of teflon is removed.
  2. I agree. Will be my position when discuss with my mates at the bike shop. Let's see what they say. I suspect I will have to chalk this one to experience. This is about 6 grand a year in fork servicing (3 major services and 3 lowers service a year - wife rides more than me). Maybe better to skip services, buy a new one when required. Which is pretty much what I have been doing, up to now. It was taking 4 to 5 years to trash the fork when I only serviced the fork when it gave an issue.
  3. Was 8 months. More than 200 hours. It's my wife's bike, she does lockout a lot. Just been serviced, not a great look. It's back with the shop.
  4. Slow learner. Lol. With the fork stanchion replacement. Invoice was over R7000. So yes. Did assume everything was done. I am thinking now that this was not the case.
  5. It does look like a gap. I took it back to another mechanic today, he said he would strip fork and take photos of everything. There is something wrong with the fork in this pic. After getting a service last week the fork went to 140 mm. It is 120 mm fork, so therefore took it back today. Ironically, if it wasn't for the 140 mm fork issue, I wouldn't have seen most of the damage. This part is normally inside the lower part.
  6. To be honest, I don't know. Shop did everything, I had taken it in because stanchions were worn, so I am presuming this was done. I will find out.
  7. Sounds like a plan. Will let you know.
  8. Update on my stanchion replacement last September. Fork was leaking oil, took it in and stanchion is wrecked again. Not sure if I did something wrong. Regretting paying for stanchion replacement. Will probably look for second hand fork on bikehub. It's a Rockshox Reba RL. Will take it to shop, see what they say. I doubt if there is any recourse.
  9. I have supported Solomons Durban for many years. This brand has great integrity. All bike shops make mistakes, the best shops sort things out as soon as they are aware of the mistake.
  10. I tested mine now more closely, the link is not the problem. I think it is the limit screw needs a bit of adjustment. If that doesn't work, then the 11t cog must be worn. I cannot see any bent teeth, but this isn't always obvious as the teeth are different shapes to assist with chain movement on gear changes.
  11. Funny story, just checked my mtb now and the link is facing wrong. I rode an mtb race yesterday, my chain was slipping in 11t.
  12. Quick link is directional. Check it is correct. I have had problems like this. Happens on the 11 t.
  13. 100 percent.
  14. Aramex Global is totally separate from Aliexpress, there is no integration. So you choose whatever shipping method that Aliexpress offers, I normally put the cheapest shipping method (free if possible). Then put the AGS address as my own address.
  15. I stand corrected. Thanks for that.
  16. Thus far SAPO for me is 100 percent reliable. Just takes long. I agree with you that at some point they will collapse and whatever is in the pipeline will be lost. So I only use for cheap, low risk items. Would not ship anything expensive via SAPO. Aliexpress seller does cover the risk of shipping, however, I normally allow items to expire the warranty period as SAPO always does deliver in the end and I feel bad about claiming refund, when I know the item will arrive.
  17. Risky, it may hurt when you ship those new wheels and they won't release without a code. It's not easy to get a code, long process.
  18. It won't.
  19. I use Hong Kong address. Check both when you select the address. See which is cheaper to courier to SA. What people don't realise about AGS, they clear customs for you, debit your car. Then it arrives at your door. You are allowed three shipments per year with customs (they use your ID number to clear in SA), then you need to register with SARS as an importer.
  20. Yes, I have ordered many wheelsets. It is worth taking a chance. Look for seller with many sales and good reviews. When the wheel arrives, check everything thoroughly and highlight problems immediately. If it is carbon, check for weaknesses, issues on the rims. I have had good experience with refunds if there are problems. One seller sent me a new wheel six months later when I picked up an issue. I wouldn't buy an aluminum wheel from Aliexpress. I think they are too cheap / look a bit light. There are various hubs, something like Novatec or more expensive are pretty good. It may be worthwhile to get an Aramex global shopper account and courier the items, you will pay VAT and import duties on them when they arrive (however you ship them). Will be less than 20 percent of the cost of the items. For more expensive items, I use Aramex and it takes about 2 to 3 weeks.
  21. I certainly do. Message me.
  22. Agree with Robert, probably needs cable adjustment at the barrel. If this doesn't work, try break it and put Shimano 12 Deore derailleur. I believe the 12 speed Shimano will work with 12 speed shifter you have.
  23. Holla is great, you should go there. It is very popular, they have done a lot of work on the trails after the floods. There is a very nice trail head. Many people go there to hang out at the restaurant and they don't even have bikes.
