  1. Done both, prefer Sani. Love day 2 of Sani. Day 1 of Berg and Bush has its moments, but lots of district road to get from the drop into KZN to the Spionkop area. Would do both every year, if I could.
  2. I have had this issue with Maxxis tires. Took the tire into the bike shop for replacement, the new replacement was the same, just rode the old tire with the wobble after that. Recently I cleaned the old tire of sealant after replacing the rim tape, tire was so bad after that I could not use it.
  3. Get a friend to drive your car.
  4. With lube you'll only get 5 opinions. I use Squirt, don't know if it is the best, but it's very clean and chain is quiet with it.
  5. If you ask ten people, you'll get ten opinions. I like Vittoria Barzo on front 2.35, Maxis crossmark 2 on the back.
  6. My Giant GPS measures less than my phone Strava app if I do a local ride with lots of corners. If I ride out and back, more or less straight, they are both similar in distance. I think the Giant GPS has lower sampling rate, so basically is cutting the corners. Difference is about 0.5 km over 30 km with a local ride.
  7. Sugar Rush is now Holla, you can ride on your own there.
  8. I have my bike back with the home made shim, it looks like a piece cut from a 1.125 inch steerer tube, with a small gap cut through the length of the shim. Works great.
  9. I have a few, one my mate made at work from this diagram. The others I bought from Aliexpress. I understand Shimano crankset with BB386 is not a pressfit crankset, it is normal Shimano and the BB386 has adapters for the normal 24 mm Shimano crankset to fit. I know the 24/22 GXP does fit with this adapter I have. I don't know if a pressfit GXP crankset will fit with the BB386, test it first before you buy anything.
  10. I have tested this on a bike with BB386.
  11. You need this. Will work fine.
  12. I tried to get an MTB derailleur to work on a road bike a while back, the issue was the chain ring sizes are too big on the road bike. I think all road front derailleurs are pretty similar, try looking for one that has a better geometry.
  13. I have a similar issue with an old frame that I am building up, taking it to Republic Sport in Durban this weekend. Toni said he could have one or would make one for me.
  14. Same thing happening on my wife's bike. Bit of an irritation. Planning at some point to replace all the nipples with some from rapide.co.za. i have all the tools. I noticed when I trued up the wheel, the spokes are very tight. I think this does make it worse.
  15. Yes, upgrade. 1 x 11 Shimano Deore or SLX is great. There are plenty of people on the bikehub who sell what you would need to go 1x11. I use 1x10 Shimano SLX, very happy with it, but spares are hard to get (cassette mainly). You won't be able to go 1x12 without changing the rear hub. Best part of 1x11 is that Shimano and SRAM are interchangeable - derailleurs, shifters, obviously cassette too. Better brakes are a great upgrade too, SLX or Deore is my preference.
  16. Must have air fork, preferably Rockshox or Fox. Manitou is also OK. The rest of the bike you can upgrade as you break it or wear it out.
  17. I would reply "yes". I only ignore low ball offers.
  18. I have bought many off eBay or Aliexpress. It takes about 2 months to arrive, you can get the whole set which would be a copy of the standard for about R200.
  19. They less than R20 each. The ones I bought are fine. Generally Aliexpress hangers are pretty good. There's not much tech in a hanger.
  20. I have used the hanger extender on a couple of bikes. It works very well. They are super cheap on Aliexpress.com if you can wait two months.
  21. I have done 19 Shovas, not riding this year. I wish them luck with the race, hope it goes well. Out and back on the M13 is not Shova. Doing a few MTB races instead.
  22. You do get 32-11 Shimano 10 speed, bought one two weeks ago for my tandem. It uses a medium cage SRAM Apex 10 speed derailleur. 11 speed conversion is possible, providing the cassette will fit on the hub. Why do you want to convert anything from DA7900 with 28-11 cassette, this sounds like fine setup.
  23. I would give it a go, there's a guy in Durban who does this. I have a mate who used him to weld an XL road frame into a medium. It worked OK. I can message you his details.
  24. Get onto a gaming PC site, like Evetech.co.za and look at gaming chairs, prices start from about R2000. With this type of chair it is more difficult to hunch forward with your shoulders clenched.
  25. My random advice for older guys who suffer with back and neck pain while riding (besides bike fit which is a great idea) is to get a gaming chair. The last year of working from home I used a gaming chair and it made a big difference to upper back and neck pain.
