  1. Cool. I suppose it is something you need to feel then. I've never understood the appeal of carbon, but I suppose there must be something...
  2. Interesting... What wheels did you have previously(same weight)? And you running the exact same tires?
  3. Awesome... I wonder if they will cater for 27.5
  4. On my 27.5 Trance with 30mm ID rims, I've got a 2.6 Eliminator on the front. It measures about 2.5. Pretty happy with it. Got a 2.3 Aggressor on the rear... grips pretty well, but feels slow. Any suggestions for something that rolls a bit faster? Previous bike had Nobby Nics which rolled fast but didn't grip.
  5. I also miss the comments for ads... I found it very useful. People often make mistakes in their ads, like the wrong year model. Using a PM, they normally don't change the ad, and just ignore.
  6. Awesome, thanks for the feedback. I love the Wild Boar Trails from VDC, but they can get quite muddy after rain - although it is still great fun, I wouldn't want to damage the trails. Is the Scout Trail a better option in the wet? I'm happy to support them with the trail fee.
  7. Nice, might give it a try this weekend. I have just confirmed that this specific trail (Hawekwas Scout Adventure Centre Loop) is not free for Tygerberg members. Anyone know if the Hawekwas Scout trail drains well, or if it will be super muddy after recent rains?
  8. Apparently the route is tough. Several climbs are technical and tiring. A friend was joking that the 700m of climbing felt like 1700m! He signed up for the 63km but ended doing the 37km. Edit: Sorry I see you've done it before...
  9. Sorry, a bit late. We were riding Porcupine slowly (with friends of various fitness levels). Our moving time was 2h30. Porcupine is just an extension of Hedgehog. So you can turn off at the end of the Hedgehog (after a leisurely 1h30), or continue for the reset of Porcupine.
  10. Yep, it's open.
  11. I love the fox ranger cargo (12"). They are an older model, so I searched online to find the exact same recently to replace.
  12. Awesome! Gonna do my best to join!
  13. Rode the Porcupine route last Saturday ~27km and 900m of climbing. Really enjoyed it! Will definitely be back - such a bonus that it is open to Tygerberg MTB club members Stunning scenery and the pizzas and beers were great! We rode at 10 am - the trail centre was closed. Tried to sign in, but the book was too wet (due to rain).
  14. Remove the .html part... www.tygerbergmtb.co.za/trails/
  15. It does look amazing! Its on my to-do-list in the next few weeks. I really need the practice, to give me more confidence to try the A-line options on the trails!
  16. Awesome... Would love to upgrade my Anthem 29er to one of those! Hope there are some used ones on the market in a year or two!
  17. Yes, please... Haven't seen many around....
  18. My son had this bike and LOVED it. Excellent quality. Really light weight. Pneumatic tires (very important for grip!) The cheaper balance bikes have foam tires. Even after he was on a pedal bike, he still hops on it for fun. Our daughter will be using it next. Got great service from the local supplier (below). http://www.like2bike.co.za/balance-bikes.html Kokua Hardy - Price was under R2k a few years ago...
  19. I think you're right... The review here, agrees that 120mm is the way to go... https://www.bikehub.co.za/features/_/gear/reviews/pyga-stage-long-term-review-r6654
  20. Nice! personally, I'd go for something a bit less hectic... Similar to Nobby Nics, Onza Barzo, etc. Maybe you can find Rekons or Forekasters?
  21. On what bike? Just curious...
  22. I didn't say that it wasn't good value for money, I'd just like to know why the increase is so much more than usual...
  23. Ah, cool, thanks. Didn't know about the newsletter - will sign up
  24. One thing I would like for Tyberberg MTB club is better communication. I have never received an email about the AGM, etc. It would be cool if they distributed the minutes of the AGM too via email. Or is it just me that is missing this? An explanation of the increased fees would be appreciated. A jump to 18% just doesn't make sense without some sort of justification... Maybe there are some major improvements coming up, then I'd understand.
