My Izimu has an adjustable rear shock mount, which changes the head angle, currently have it set up on its steepest, for my first enduro . On its slackest setting you can forget about climbing anywhere.... ever.

Hey Capricorn! LOONG time. Remember when we used to build up there A couple of years ago! I might revisit this arvie, does the trail start at the same place? same route? Switch back, into small drop off, then rock garden straight down into road drop, then left berm over big hump, into right berm through trees to cant remember the rest?

Went back to tokai today. It was wet and very muddy. But was so worth it!!! Managed to do all the jumps this time. And reall love how the 3jumps flow into the berms an drops. On side note, tokai is awesome when it's wet for propper mud training. A completely different experience from the usual dust.

im one of those "less is more" guys. Really like the "look" ove the low profile seats, plust it shaves a few grams, lol. But seriously, I think the low profile seat makes sense, we hardly on the seat. Its really just there to grab with your knees on big jumps and prevent your bum from scraping the back tire on big drops... Om looking for a new seat now. BUt price wise, MTB seat prices are ridicoulous!! Why are good BMX seats so much cheaper. Want to get the Giant fade seat and its only R180!

to add to the "debacle" Seat Size? Weve seen the trends from massive mx style seats decrease in size to tiny xc style. I see some of the riders above use tiny thin seats, while others the fatter standard seats. Why the difference?

Lol, yeah it's not really a gap, but the only jump that's not a table, the one with the wooden crate to prevent xc'ers from rolling it.... I slide out through the sandy right hand. So start at left of road gap- across jeep track - then small roll in into jump into berm - into table top - then peddle into long sandy right which hits the "wood crate gap" that's where I'm breaking and losing speed. Will be there Sunday! Any one else?

Yeah, nice one builders! I rode the trail section between the Road Gap and the part where the trail splits and theres the drop off over the rock. Very Very raad! Super flowy, and just the right size jumps. My biggest problem, more due to my skill, not the trail. Was the slightly offcamber long right turn befor the gap. Kept over braking and wasnt able to hit the gap due to too much lost speed. But will def keep trying and try to resit breaking through that corner..... Hope to see you all there soon, and also amped to help with my bit of building

Sho! Just hit the New DH trail at Tokia!!! So flippen rad! To the builders, THANK YOU!!! I know its not completely finished, but man is it fun! Super flowy, the jumps are rad. Cant wait to go hit it again!!

Also, Capricorn - When last you been to the Signal Hill track? I see the fire has cleared most of the bush, should make it easier to build new trails. Always wanted somthing that zig-zags down the slope with a few nice berms etc... Instead of the straight shoot between the trees... Has there been any further development since last year?

haha Nigel... Yeah I know. Been reading alot about The schwinn Straight 8 / Yeti DH9. (both were almost identical and shared the same manual) Apparently the design by Mert Lawwill is one of the best designs on a bike with lots of direct stable travell and very little peddle bob. Theres quite a huge following for these bikes internationaly. Im super amped to get the bike 100% sorted and out on the trail. Also keen to get the bike re-sprayed. thinking Grey and lime green. With matching forks and lime green grips

Well heres my "new" baby. 2001 Schwinn straight 8. With 2001 Boxxer 7" fork and Fox Vanilla RC rear shock. Think i need to service the suspension, but will take it for a spin and see whats what. Also need a new seat the one on is massive! Might get a cheap Giant Fade BMX seat in white

Well the Scwhinn straight 8 has been sent today! Cant wait to get it put together, and onto the trail. Apparently the scwhinn straight 8 had a really good suspension design, with almost no peddle bob, and was very efficient. Gonna change the color similiar to the new mongoose boot'r grey and lime green... maybe. Well thanks again for all the info. Peace!

well im not a total newb. to DH, just a stingy fellow, that works for himself... my current ride is an 06 Giant AC. But the frames to small, and the shock botoms out real easy. It also feels super sketch when i bomb hills with it.. and is def holding me back. I dont really want to spend too much cash.. being a freelancer i never know when my next invoice will be paid... :-/ I like the idea of the Straight 8. And ill donate the AC to my GF. I really want to get her involved! (more trail riding for her i guess)

ya, after closer inspection between the bike on offer and the bikes poster here.. It looks like the rear suspension is slightly different. Where the one i could get takes a much shorter shock and doesnt look adjustable....

hmm still not sure.. the reviews on MTBR say its super sweet.. and can get up to 12inches of rear travel.. not the best DH bike but great for freeride and big drops....

ya, was hoping the bike/fork was awesome. LIke wouldnt mind a super t for R250.

hmm ok... thanks guys! the guy wants R900 for the frame and R250 for the fork... But even at that low price it wouldnt be worth it... Apparently the zzxyz forks are super old and will prob break within 1 run....
