  1. that is correct, while FTP is important its not the end all. We use a method called "Polarised training" when we prescribe training to athletes. each coach will have their own personal touch to how they structure sessions and so forth buy we use the same Polarised model. What you have said is also correct in terms of FTP today, tomorrow and in 3 weeks. The athlete is Edward Greene and the video can be viewed here, it is honestly brilliant.
  2. I would go to 255 or 260 looking at those values still. Give yourself some credit.
  3. That looks correct, what I would do now though is add 20W onto your Ftp and recalculate and see what the values are. Alternatively yes, do another test.
  4. You should calibrate every ride no question but I believe your values are wrong and to low. Increase it all by 20% on FTP and recalculate TSS Values. Yes you may go to hard, but those values are not going out to hard as they unsustainable. An over under session of 3 x 10 for example is a TSS typically 115 and a IF of .80 if you do 95% for unders 115% for the overs. You cannot do a 1IF for that session duration.
  5. When I look at your IF for sessions they are almost impossible to maintain, especially the over under set of a 1 IF for the complete session. This value is impossible to maintain for 1hour in duration. this is a typical IF for a 30sec sprint. Your zone 2 ride on Saturday was a IF of .80 and 130TSS that is more than 60 tss / per hour typical of a local XC race. Recovery rides are typically a .6 to .65 IF so either you riding to hard during those or again your values inserted in are incorrect. for example you have a FTP of 200W where you should have 240W. 150 bpm vs 173 for threshold. Or maybe your TACX isnt calibrated correctly and / or powermeter. Yes, you mention that IF is just for interest sake but if your values are out and your sessions are returning the incorrect values in IF and TSS then your whole PMC which comprises of ATL / TSB and CTL are incorrect and null and void. To return a score of .87 for a weeks training is like racing a 5 day very hard tour on a bike, even then you would typically see a .8 - .85 Just trying to help you get your data better and more accurate.
  6. Personally I use WKO4 which I have tailored a personal dashboard with charts of specific data I use to monitor and track an athlete, but I know others may use Golden Cheetah etc and not use a few of the personal charts I use and vice versa. Each has their own in some ways to personal preference on software.
  7. Thanks for the reply. Can I ask: Do you use a power meter to get IF or do you manually calculate etc? What was the IF for each session? Was each session a intensity session?
  8. Can I ask how many hours were done this week?
  9. I rode here today, sorry about the GPS mess on Col Condreu but it always messes up. https://www.strava.com/activities/869456495
  10. The previous winner is only loud behind a keyboard it seems. He has had face to face confrontations with ex banned riders (for whatever reason) and said nothing, only to later say thanks for the great racing during the event they partook in together.
  11. Hi Guys I am not getting into the deep end of this but I do understand where you coming from - including myself - with regards to the way this all came about and Strickers approach to the article. We did speak about this prior to the test and so forth. He came in, did the test, paid for it as per the agreement and shared the results. I believe he delivered 100% on his part of this agreement to date and to call me his coach as of test date would be correct (for now) I don't think its now fair to give the guy abuse for coming through which a lot of people wouldnt of I don't believe. I have had a lot of people talk but not walk the walk. However, he now has to actually follow a program which when times are tough and rough is not the easiest thing to do. So lets not crucify the guy completely just yet, I need him to follow a program going forward or not then we can take it from there. Thanks
  12. As I said to him, its not for me to splash his test for the public to see without his permission. If I am allowed to I will otherwise once I send the report in full to him he can then do as he wishes and if there questions I can answer if need.
  13. He came in for testing today, had some good laughs, watched him suffer, laughed some more, changed his bike set up alittle and that was that. Test was good and he went deep. no question.
  14. If you are serious about the commitment and actually follow the prescribed training given correctly, submit data on time and have a test performed (at your cost) before hand, I will be open to your 1k per 5% deal depending on a meeting and seeing where and what. money would need to be held in a separate party for when or if payment needs to be made. Note that a correct time frame for a re-test will beed to be made to allow for adequate training and adaptation so both benefit. We can even put your test, training and relevant data on here for all to see so there is no hiding.
  15. Stricker - not all coaching options on offer to athletes are that amount per month. If that is out your price range then looking for a cost monthly to suite your needs and budget is definitely a exercise worth doing.
  16. Good morning Christian 1 race was not based on a series of criteria races leading to the selection. Alan was 2nd on that list going in. His place is was earned, not gifted. If you are wanting to look at a single performance, then do we count Alan's result at African Champs in Lesotho where he started well behind the elite men as a U23 and caught and passed all but Phil but posted significantly faster lap times than him? He would of won that race by almost 2 minutes. 1 race is not the answer here and to single him out is not fair I believe as all he did was race his bike, qualify and get selected.
  17. We little off topic here but the prices you see here in those shops are significantly more than Barcelona and I do mean a good amount more and variety is also more. Also stuff here is last season as I discovered last year.
  18. hahaha, some of it, not all, but some. stuff is cheeeeeep in BCN.
  19. I have just returned from Europe now and flew Emirates to Barcelona and then drove to France - back to Barcelona and flew to Mallorca and then Back to Cape Town with Emirates. Just some info: Never paid any additional costs when booking the tickets for bicycles. Flew economy there and Business back. My wife travelled with and luggage was the following there: 2 Evoc bike bags 17kg and 21kg each in weight 2 x roller cases in the form of 1 x Oakley 45L roller bag 22"h x 14"w x 9-1/2"d and 1 x Oakley 92L 32.5"h x 16.5"w x 14"d Both bags together weighed just over 32kg. On our return after buying random stuff i.e.: half of Mango, Zara, Massimo Ducci, H&M and whatever else was on sale in Barcelona our 2 x luggage bags combined was 37kg. At no time were we asked to pay for bikes extra on any of the flights except Vuelling airlines to Mallorca - we did know about this when we booked and was 45 Euro extra each way per bike although they let 1 bike go free on the flight to Mallorca. Vuelling is like Mango / Kulula etc. I did ask at random about this at Emirates check ins and no one really knew about it from or to SA. Last 3 years I have flown overseas with a bike on Emirates and have never had a issue with bicycles by paying extra. My 2c and experience.
