Court hearing in February next year. What happened there is an absolute travesty.

Lekker route. We do it almost every weekend. I would start at the top of Unie Road in Stellenbosch though and avoid Old Helshoogte road part. Follow the signs to Corkscrew…. All the way up and over. First split on the other side keep right…. Left takes you to Skyfall which isn’t really nice except if you like pedalling down! Keeping right will take you a little further up…. Contour around. First descent to your left from the beacon is Fynbos. Great trail. Leads you to Banhoek berms and down to the farm road. If you turn right there parallel to the Dwarsrivier towards Oldenburg you can cycle all the way to the back of Banhoek, stop to fill up with water at the bridge…. Continue to Niknaks and then Klipwerf, Afterburn etc…. Coffee stop at Banhoek Chilli Oil…. Over Helshoogte. Turn left at the ugly new developments gate… through the pine forest and finish with Conrad Stoltz’s jumpline into Uniepark. I don’t think there are many rides in SA that can beat this one…. Enjoy😀…. make sure you have Zapper on your phone. You can pay at the sign at the top of Botmas. Honesty system

Thanks…. Anyone know about options in Cape Town area I could try first?

My sons pedal on his brand new SLX crank worked loose with stripped thread being the end result. Can anyone point me towards someone who can help with a thread insert…. It is on the drive side i.e. right hand thread. I really don’t want to throw the crank away….. In the Cape Town area if possible…. But I can send it elsewhere if needed. Would really appreciates any help.

I just drove over that bridge 2 hours ago. Water runs over it about 300 to 400mm deep. Do able with a bakkie…. But not with a bicycle😂😂

Bike was sold to someone in Table View acoording to the Eikestad Nuus…. Let me say it the way it is: If you buy stuff from dubious sources here, on Facebook or elsewhere you are complicit to a violent crime and deserve to be in jail…. and dont give that nonsense about “how do you know”….. you know when you know…. jeeesh this makes me angry. (rant over)

Jonkershoek in Stellenbosch….very safe. But you need to drive there and back to go and ride…. Well worth it though

Insurance issues etc aside…..The salient point for me out of all of this is that there are unscrupulous people among us buying the stuff knowing that something is fishy. Drawing this to its logical conclusion: If you buy something secondhand that is too good to be true you should really search your conscience and consider the fact that you are in all likelihood complicit in a crime…. Theft or possibly much worse. Sad but true.

Stolen bikes only have value to fellow cyclist…. So somewhere in the chain “we” provide a point of off set for these goods. I have wondered about this a lot. Really sorry to hear about your loss.
