Dude Crush

Got this a couple of weeks back - did one long ride and decided to take it down for the CTCT this weekend... current mileage is about 300km so far - bike has been cleaned and lubed twice already. I'm feeling very obsessive over it... Trek Emonda SL6 - I've been told its the first SL6 in SA in black thus far. Brought it in on special order as the last Trek shipment didn't have any... rides BEEEAAAUUUTIFULLY

Yes, saw this on DSTV catchup this morning. Camera bike also got in the way just before they entered the city. But the guys really fluffed up on the last few 100m before the end. Even the timing mat was a hazard at the finish, with a few riding nearly riding into it and having to go around the mat a few meters before the finish. Felt this could have been done better.

Tragic news.... As mentioned above, if cyclists going uphill, we all know that it's almost impossible that they cut the corner. Just doesn't make sense. Much more likely that the motorist went wide if coming downhill. If the cyclists were going downhill, then yes, I would say it's possible that they might have cut the corner, but this sounds dodgy.

Glad ur ok... And that you got help when you needed it. I agree, we should definitely be pissed about it Mr. X, no doubt. However, you can sulk all you want and be miserable for the rest of your life, or you can try and be grateful for the good that you received in a sh1tty situation and keep on living. Kudos for the OP being able to do the latter. Most people are not strong enough to keep a positive attitude in the face of adversity...

Knobs will be the ones riding MTB's? :-P Just kidding... 3E for me, starting at 7:15. Hoping for a sub-4 this year... I always seem to lose all momentum at the 100km mark... This year should be better....

I saw your thread on the Madone... Have u considered the new Trek Emonda? The s5 or S6 should be around that price range. I ordered the SL6 from 818 Cycles on the Hub, and getting a decent deal on what I think is a fantastic mid level bike. The SL range is a bit more expensive, hence my suggestion for the S range. I should get my bike later this week and will share my thoughts on it over the weekend if u like.

Saw an awesome Morewood on a crappy red tazz yesterday In Rosebank... Bompass road. What a beautiful bike! And to think that most people won't realise how much more the bike is worth than the car

Cycle Fit all the way for me... Richard did a fantastic job for me late in 2013 and I've not had any sores, pains,etc since. You need to tell them what your issues and riding preferences are and they'll tailor your fit. It's also great that they show you before and after videos and what they corrected. My Trek Emonda is on its way to me in a couple of weeks. Richard helped me by confirming that the size and type of frame I've chosen is a good fit for my future expectations. Service from the top shelf from these guys!!

Have to agree that the principle of buying to sell for a profit is wrong. This is a RECREATIONAL activity for most of us... if u want to make money, get a real bloody job! Btw, I dont blame guys that booked airfare and hotels early for paying a premium. Its a pity they have to be forced down that road. I waited till I had an entry to book flights and prices were already ridiculous!

My boet had gastro the night before the race - went to his room at 5am to see him dehydrated and dejected. Expensive trip to CPT for a DNS. He'll be back strong next year though... and we'll both be very careful of what we eat the day before!

I've got the Polar CS200 with speed and cadence - beautiful computer. Maybe look at that. Its R1600 without cadence or around R2k with cadence but definitely worth it. I just picked up a second hand speed and cadence sensor here so I can easily switch between my mtb and road bike. The computer can be set up for two bikes...

Thanks guys... Are there no issues with using the SRAM cassette and Shimano groupset? Seems like people seem to like SRAM products a bit more here... Is the 1070 similar in the range to Ultegra?

Hi Guys I've recently jumped on a road bike for the first time but I find that the 11-23 cassette is a bit much for me on the hills. There seems to be a shortage of Ultegra casettes at the moment. I can get the Ultegra 11-25 or SRAM 1070 12-27 now, but would have to wait 3 weeks for the Ultegra 12-27. The rest of the groupset is Ultegra... What should I do?

8ft wall you say? Must've been a really tall guy... depending on your frame size, maybe we should look out for the awkward dude with long legs and a small bike! Bt seriously, sorry to hear that dude... i guess the only thing left to do is make light of it. I agree, sometimes it just seems like this sh*T is getting out of hand!
