  1. I did, couldn't find it on Supercycling entries page?
  2. Hi Does anyone know if there is a Babbas MTB race again this week-end? I remember at the previous race the guy said it is the same date as the Argus. Tx
  3. Yeah, and like I said, it was working for more than a year before this problem crept up. Maybe it is linked to the other problem, my age is creeping up on me...has been doing it for more than 47 years...
  4. Thanks guys, went ridin' tonight focussing on when it hurts. I'm lekke relaxed on the bike ... most of the time, when I'm not screaming while doing stupid stuff... I feel the muscles pull when I'm in the attack position and have to pull up - like when jumping a curb while moving too slow to do a full bunny-hop onto the obstacle. I've read on the i-net on tennis elbow, and Johan, there's a doctor in USA says he can heal the tennis-elbow, with exactly that exercise you talk about. I'm going to give it a try, use a 1kg weight while in the car driving (or parking on the N1) between Johburg and Pretoria every day. I just wonder how many guys suffer from this? Regards
  5. And I couldnt understand why all the direction boards were blank with arrows on the other side...
  6. Thanks Taps, I've tried that but they complain about me riding around in the gym on my Mountain Bike. Once did a wheelie, lost balance and careened into a guy trying to bench-press 350Kg - wasn't funny. Jokin'
  7. Hi I've been doing MTBing for more than a year now (after 8yrs on the road). The past two months I've been suffering BADLY however from "tennis Elbow" and sore forearms. First it was only my left arm(weakest arm), but the right arm is now also beginning to muck up. The result is that I cannot pick up anything (not even cup of coffee) without shedding a silent tear My friend who started doing MTB approx 3 months ago, now has the same problem. Is this a common occurance with the MTB scene, and what is causing this? Is the pull-up of the handles to lift the front wheel over obstacles, or the bike setup/brake lever position... I know only one thing, and it is that this hurts like hell!! Anyone who can help or make a suggestion to get it better - as long as I don't have to stop MTB'ing - too much fun!!
  8. My friend's got the Merida 96 - 1000. AWESOME bike, and for less than 18k, very good value for money
  9. My 2c: If at all you can do a FS - MUCH MUCH better. Handles better, climbs better, descend better. just no comparison New is better, but you can get good bargains on 2nd hand bikes. Only problem is that if it was misused, you'll end up paying... SRAM. Shimano is good, but the function and feel and reliability of the SRAM (I have X9 throughout) is just awesome. Hopithelps.

    Thule racks

I use the hang-on version - 100% My Brother in law has the stand-with-Thule-smart clamp. Is an awesome piece, but awesome price... On mine I fit my XL MTB, L Road, M Ladies Bikes,
  11. Had an awesome day! I'm amazed that it is such a good organised event with attention to small detail (candles in the loo just must be the best idea ever!) Where will the result be? i've tried SS timing website, but they only show stuff from last year...
  12. These guys are good. But I'd like to have my own MTB board. If you forget your number..and it is typed wrong, it is difficult to correct. Happened to me at the Telkom MTB. BUT - a couple of emails and they sorted out the problem. They are good and money spent with them is well spent
  13. i'm doing my first Babbas (35km) and my wife is having her first race (12km)
  14. This is BY FAR the best program I've seen!!
  15. THanks Miggies!! DL'd and installed - Gosh it IS GOOD. Still struggling to get the speed/hr/cad/other data to display together, but I'm seriously impressed. Seabee, I'm going to look for that now - will give it a try. THANKS
  16. I recently made the move from Garmin (S720i) to Garmin (Edge 705). I really enjoy the 705's performance, display (MANY!!) and that you can change the display on the fly. The best however is that it takes me home when I've lost myself in da bushas! I found the Training software however to be a bit of a dissapointment. It is not customize-able (sp?) as the Polar (cannot change exercise names, leave out data, etc). Is there any other better software out there that can be used for the Edge 705?
  17. I have a Marzochhi Fork with 20mm thru-axle. It works terrific, but the problem is that "normal" mountings on trailer carriers are designed for quick-release clamps. I now have to mount the bike with front wheel intact, using straps and ropes etc. Surely there must be a mounting method for the 20mm, but I've not seen any. Does anyone from the Downhill fraternity maybe have an idea on what is available, and if so, where I can find this?
  18. Just like Johan said. Keep them clean and the internals will do the job. If you're a newbie, a fall every now and then will also do the trick. Just make sure you fall enough "upside down"!
  19. This is a scary thread. this is the best thread in a long time. Lots to learn and know. Thanks all!
  20. Instead of going through all this PT, why just not stop using gears 1-3? Adjust the stop on the derailer to not reach these gears.
  21. If your cassette and disc size are the same on both - do (like my friend does and) have two sets of wheels. Swapping is quick and you can do both road and MTB easy. ONly thing that's a bit of hassle is the disc pads may need re-align from one wheel to the other due to the discs not being 100% the same horizontal distance, but that is easily solved by holding the touching side of the disc against that pad, and pumping the brake 3 or 4 times. And you can buy good sets of 2nd hand wheels (with cassette and rotor sometimes) here on the beloved Hub
  22. "Just about any thin mineral (real, not synthetic) oil will work and the only danger is a low boiling point or gumming up of parts. Good quality sewing machine oil works. I'm going to get shot for this but OPC will be first." Hi Johan, You lost me with the OPC? What is OPC? ALso, if the parts will gum up, how to Ungum? I have Magura Louise and fortuantely only had to bleed one once (when I swapped the pipes between the front and rear from left- to righthanded positions). I used syringe, pipe (from the fishtank) and a nipple that was a bit too small but with an O-Ring Seal. Worked fine. Bit of a struggle to get the reservoir to not continue 'breathing' oil afterwards, but that was because it wants to have some air in the top section of the reservoir. Magura has some good documentation on their website on how to bleed the unit, as well as the professional bleed kit. TxTrapper2010-01-08 05:40:13
  23. Dont think so, as the bottom bearing will not work with spacer in there. Also it will put unnecassary strain on the bottom side of things due to longer leverage. It's all about position on the bike. if the spacers keep the handlebars at the right level, leave them. Otherwise, drop the handles and cut off the top Hopithelps
  24. Will it not be easier to mount a rack on this bike and hang your car on the back of the bike?
