  1. Duh!! I wanted to borrow 2c from the hubber next door, he only had 5c... But I AM rich - cause now i've got 3c for myself, although I'll use it to buy a pump for the other guy who lost his...
  2. I once lent a guy a quicklink during the race, and he promised that he woudl bring it back afterwards... waited nearly an hour. Just about to give up and be dissappointed in my fellow MTB community, and he rocks up with R50 to replace my link. This was great. HOWEVER, if you really come unprepared for your race, don't expect others to help you. Make sure you have your own pump, quicklink, tube, patches etc. And, if you decide to lend your stuff to someone you don't know, make sure you do it with the expectation to never get it back. Everyone look different without a helmet and glasses... And if you do get it back, it's great, but if not, well, you did not expect it back in any case. Just my 5c worth...
  3. They have a helmet replacement policy - i think you pay 30% of the price for a new one if you return the old crash one. Speak to Lizl. Service is great!
  4. Some birds from Nort-West, Croatia and... OOPS! - It cut off the sides of the pictures, how do I fix that to display correct?

  9. This is a thanks to Arshad and Alone at Solomons in Pretoria North for the excellent, and i mean excellent, service received from them recently (actually always ). I traded in my old Wheeler on a new Fuji. It had some issues with the stability and a rear brake vibration. They've now spend days to ensure that the problems are resolved. The rear-brake is still a bit of an issue - after replacing numerous disks, pads, and even trying the calipers - it has been greatly resolved by installing a temporary 160mm disk (from the original 180) until Fuji themselve can address the problem (suspect it might be a linkage issue). In the process i've been upgraded to Bontrager rims at a small fee and trading in the old XT set. Arshad and Alone's attitude to their customers is really outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble, and a smile is there, even when 'negotiation' gets tough. I've been using many other LBShops over the years, but my commitment is really to these guys. They've helped out to service 9 bikes from a children's home and replaced all the parts at below cost and no labour charges. They are really a lekka bunch, and in my opinion the best LBS by far!
  10. And then BOS, what happened ...? 27th today. need an update.
  11. Replaced the disc (under warranty)
  12. Or you did a scouting run first...
  13. Ahw, come on, you're just being funny you!
  14. HEE-HAA!!! Resolved - and you wont believe. It was acutally the rivets that hold the disc onto the middle mounting of the disc brake, that was a bit loose. Up cheers to Alone at Solomon's who fixed this - after figuring it out together with the whizz from Shimano. What to do to check yours: hold the brake tight, and push the bike lightly forwards and backwards, if teh wheel move a bit, check it out carefully. I first thought this movement was with the pads inside the caliper, but it is actually movement at the rivets. So all great mystery's come to an end. No pad change or disc size required.
  15. Oh, and the other thing, if it is the pads, why is it only the rear brake causing the noise - the front works like a (silent) dream
  16. Eish - I posted exactly the same question about 2 weeks ago. I've handed my bike (brand new) with XT system back to the LBS. The LBS replaced the pads, then the disc, but as soon as it heats up, the problem occurs. All is correctly aligned, set up and bled. They're now going to contact Shimano and Fuji to find out why? I've done only about 500km with the bike, and all was well until about 450km when the vibration started. Very very funny but not funny
  17. Thanks RR, The alignment is not a problem - I think, but your soap in the pads might be. I did wash the bike again today - Was a Groenkloof this morning - and the problem remained. Maybe i must try some different pads...
  18. I've developed a resonating sound coming from the rear brakes when used . I'm using a full XT component set, and it is brand-new (done about 400km). It started after I've washed the bike just after a relatively dirty ride. The pads aren't touching - the wheel runs 100% free, and the pads are not misaligned. Also, I've tighned all bolts and nuts on the rear suspension assembly, and even tightened the QR skewer some more. But still this VVVVOOOO sound erupts when i'm braking lightly. It goes away when braking hard. Oh, and i've taken out the pads, sanded them with 600 sandpaper, bent the little springy magafter that keep them in place, and re-mounted all. Any ideas what can be the cause before I'm returning it to the LBS for warranty repairs?
  19. There y'go
  20. Now how the heck do I get a 60k JPG file to display here...
  21. Check what I found Today! I would not believe it if I've not seen it!
  22. "Mankele" - Sufferish language for "Yes you need your granny and will use it often". 18% climbs are very common here.
  23. Eish, this is bad. RIP I've just ordered my ICE wristband. Thanks guys
  24. I see there's a Revelation for sale at R3k here on the hub... I've just bought a new Fuji, came with teh Revelation. At first struggled, but now that I (think) I've got the setup right, really seems to perform very well. The Pop lock still gives about 10mm of action when activated, but this works well, and climbs like a dream. I've got the setup with my + air a bit higher than the -air, and damping completely open. (I like a fast action on the front).
