  1. WOW - bat-ass, i must try that manouver next time... I've ordered twice and gotte bust wwith VAT / duties & Customs both times - usually amounting to about 50% of what I paid for the stuff. I did a 145km ride 2 weeks ago in their shorts, no bum problems what so ever... and I tend to like the tight fitting shirts... for the price I'm not complaining...
  2. I use Conti Super Lites in my race wheels - R115 ea @ 50g (on CWC online)... but they come out and replaced with normal tubes if I take them for a Sunday spin... a bit of a schlep, but I don't want to puncture them
  3. I use Adi Evil Eyes - cost me a little under R2k, and every 2 years when I update my prescription the optometrist does my inserts for me really cheap. The only problem I have with them is that sometimes sweat drops between the insert and the lense... and then you can't clean it till you stop And sometimes when it's cold the darm things fog up - mo use the evil eye lenses are anti fog, but the inserts are normal But you get used to it being close to your eyes... and oh ja - the lenses do start to peel for no reason after a year and a half Can't wear contacts, so this is the best solution I've found. Tried to look at Oakleys but I was quote R5k + for their RX range... that's a bit too much IMO. Kieran - I'm gona have a look at your when we train for the DC (I see we are riding in the same team B) )
  4. Yip - CWC is top notch - super helpful / competitively priced / friendly / expert advise, not suprisingly that's why they have been around for ages...
  5. Personally San Marco's aren't the most comfy saddles I've used... but I guess it depends on your posterior
  6. Now I know why their saddles are so low...
  7. Thats like asking someone to choose between a Lambo and those red Italian sports cars... How do you choose? Right now I'd choose a Time - coz Cofidis on the Looks (and they used Shimano ) - did nothing in the TdF But seriously I wouldn't be able to choose...
  8. This sounds interesting... So when do you want to start?
  9. Thanks Chris - ek sal my vriende laat weet. Geniet die Shimano "do" vanaand.
  10. Does the frame have internal cable routing? Very nice frame design thou... not totally mad about the branding (different strokes for different folks), but a good job non-the-less. Well done!
  11. When can I come collect my special jacket Chris What I enjoy about this Wed eve ride is that I can feel myself getting stronger - riding with guys that are so much stronger than me has just increased my strength, and determination to one day (when I have my special jacket) to turn up the burn when I set the pace on the gravel sections... and it's a nice social bunch of guys as well.
  12. Atraut - if we go (our usual route) Wellington Road - Silos - Occultdale - Adderly - Spes Bona - Wellington rd home, it's just over 50km... I usually get home at about 20:30 (I live 2 minutes from CWC shop). Come along - you'll love it and be back next week... I haven't missed a ride in more than 2 and a half months!
  13. Please come along MorewoodMan and tell us about your adventure... and the spin will be good for your legs Hope to see you there... And thanks Chris for putting us before your Shimano party... thats the stuff legends are made of
  14. Raptor is correct, they sell exactly the same stuff as cycling-jersey.net. Cycling-jerser.net must be their "suppliers" coz everything is marked up on bike-jersey.com - even the shipping! I've also ordered from cyling-jersey.net without any problems.
  15. I really enjoyed last night's ride as well - rode with the fast group and felt the burn a few times, absolutely brilliant!!! Thanks Chris and everyone involved in making the ride possible.
  16. Yip - we ride that road sometimes on our CWC night rides - known as the Malanshoogte road (takes you to the 4 way stop at the bottom of Visserhok). This is good news G-Man!
  17. I got my Mavic SLR's from CWC - almost R5k cheaper than any my LBS!!! I think the problem with buying from CRC is that they have an agreement with Mavic that they won't sell them outside the EU - I've seen that on a few of their Mavic wheelsets (on CRC).
  18. Preeeeettttttttttttttyyyyyyyyyyy!!! I wonder if I'd be able to get the Cosmic decals for my SLR's???
  19. Hi Scuzzy - i advise you get a decent light for these rides, it is quite dark once we leave durbanville. it seems like most guys use magiclights, and a bright'ish flashing light for the rear. The first time I rode with I used a guppy light up front - NOT recommeneded - I now use an Owlight from the cwconline (R599) and it works perfect for me (I'm not sure if they have stock at the moment thoui).. Hope to see you on Wednesday eve.
  20. Thanks for your committment to these rides, Chris. We all really appreciate you doing this for the sport... I will be spreading the word...
  21. Thanks Mr Lounge Lizard... I've found the pace vlippin hard the last 2 weeks - it seems that when there are 2 or 3 specific riders there, they try and be "windgat" and just rip the group to shreds. I like your idea of everyone committing to the group, that way if they want to be "windgat" they can go ride on their own. Thanks for your positive input Lizard. Much appreciated
  22. I got my Sweep replaced within 3 days, but when i had a query regarding my cannondale they never returned calls, and when I phoned the technical guys in Jhb - they couldn't help... strange that they don't know the products they import and distribute
  23. I have had the opposite opportunities - to head up to Jhb, for a lot more $$$. But the lifestyle down here is worth more to me than $$$. It's all about sacrifice - what are you willing to give up to live in the most beautiful city in the world?
