  1. I think everyone has their hiccups when trying to get a business off the ground... and I think trying to keep cyclists happy is hard enough I won't be writting them off... and besides it good that there is some competion in the online market...
  2. Gravity - try Jappie @ Union Cycles in Brackenfell... I know he used to do resprays, not sure if he still does... maybe just give them a call?

  6. I think I have a copy of that book - if I remember I got it from Anthony Martini (the only amateur to ever win the rapport tour...) I must scratch around at my folks place to see if I can find it... would be an interesting read.
  7. Don't commute - work about 5k's from home, thinking of running to work in the future... Seeing guys like you on a cold windy day just make me feel guilty for taking the easy route and driving to work
  8. Fashing light and all... yes!
  9. white wheelset = p0rn overload!!! Black = classic, like a Ford model T
  10. Hey Woofie... I think I saw you one night last week, riding past DF Malan high school... after 17:00'ish? Was it you?
  11. Your body uses up between 60+75g of carbs every hour (dependant on your weight, exercise intensity, fitness etc etc), so you need to make sure you replace those - before you deplete them. Check on the packaging of the products you use for their carb content, and use coordinally. eg powerbar gels +- 45g of carbs, 32Gi i think is about 75g of carbs. Remember to take into account breakfast and your day before carbo loading (and your body needs water to absord carbs, so make sure you have loads of h2O with your pasta). But chuck in something salty - and real food - coz you get tired (hopefully not tyred )of all the sweet stuff... I usually take a piece of droewors or biltong along. This stratergy got me through IronMan, and no doubt will get me through DC in a respectable time. And remember, enjoy the scenery and the ride... B)
  12. I know diadora when bankrupt, presumably in SA - not sure if they did the cycling shoes as well.
  13. I've had mine about 10months, and they are by far the best wheels I've ever used 9and the most expensive I've ever bought ). Super responsive, and very very very fast! I've actually resorted to leaving them at my folks place, so that I am not tempted to train on them... they come out for special races, and IronMan. I train on old heavy 36 spoke wheels, and when these come out... boy does it feel like I am flying. I have put on a good set of conti racing tyres, with lightweight tubes, and KCNC skewers... these wheel are the shizzzzzzzzzz. Just my 2c
  14. I've never ridden a carbon bike, my CAAD9 'Dale (I refused to pay R20k for a carbon frame - which was pretty much entry level, vs R8k for my 'Dale which is argubaly the best alu frame around) comes in under 7kg's with it's race face on... will carbon make me go faster - NOPE! I might get more bonus points when standing in the starting shoot for having bling carbon all over the show, but when the roads tilt heavenwards I have the last laugh... you carbon boytjies with your bling bling, deep pockets and white cyling pant can't climb... ha ha ha ha!!!
  15. As far as I know they have the flags on the bus to indicate in which countries HTC is represented, not gor the riders in their team... I could be wrong thou
  16. This bike is so light, I loaded one into my car this weekend and was suprised by it's weight (I was giving a mate a lift to a ride, I wasn't hijacking anyone ) Raleighs are really under-rated IMO
  17. You've got mail
  18. Ek stuur vir jou n pm
  19. At 10:24 this morning I emailed Hennie (at buycycle) to ask about a custom wheel build (as there were no rims on their site). At 10:31 I got a call (not an email) from him giving me my options, and what they can do for me. Brilliant!!!
  20. This man talks common sense... i agree totally!
  21. Indwe, R36k, R180pm (but must also haev car and household to get bike cover - includes R5k for medical costs not covered by medical aid), paid out for kit after a fall and medical bills in 2 days... brilliant!
  22. He's wearing one of those new Rudy "ZUMA" helmets
  23. Welcome to the hub Ikes! Check in the for sale section - you can pick up some really nice second hand bikes for R15k (that's if you want a second hand bike). Size wise... probably a 56 -58 cm I'd think Good luck!
  24. Yes guys, C'mon... manbearpig might have a serious problem here. This is no place to take the p!$$
  25. It's caused by your sciatic nerve pinching in your anterior cruciate ligament... which has become slightly enflamed during intense exercise (not purely cycling specific), once the nerve cools slightly you can occasionally feel a warm sensation in your lower leg... The only cure is to ride with two right sided pedals and shoes... Do I sound clever enough
