  1. Are those guys really pro's??? I'm so much better looking than them B)
  2. It's cycling a social sport - some of us just take it more seriously than others? In my opinion, having also raced league as part of the old CSA(juniors / track / road / elite), PPA has done more for the sport than anyone else in SA. As a sport I love, the more people getting involved and sharing in this sport, the better. The PPA just provides an awesome (and safe) environment for us to enjoy it... Now it's a given, they are far from perfect, and just do the best they can with what they have available.
  3. Apologies - it's at 18:00 tonight at Canal Walk. Here's the link: http://www.pedalpower.org.za/AboutPPA/AnnualGeneralMeeting/tabid/73/Default.aspx In all honesty - without wanting to sound like a troll, it's pointless ranting an raving here, and when the opportunity exists where our voice can be heard and make a difference - we don't grasp it... makes the last 9 pages a bit of a waste actually I personally believe for the R255 a year we pay to belong to PPA they do one h3ll of a job with the resources they have available.
  4. Yip - as far as I know the AGM is tonight at Canal Walk (MTN Science Centre, 19.00 for 19.30 if I'm not mistaken). I believe this is the best place to voice your concerns about PPA - and to get them heard! Are you going to be there Frail?
  5. Yeah - a really awesome ride last night, everyone stayed together on the tar sections - and regrouped at the end of the gravel parts. A nice vibe, a good average (I was suprised at the high ave), a great ride and an awesome workout... See you ouens next week...
  6. Hooooohaaaaaaaa B)
  7. When I get home this pm I'm just gona check the weather from my balcony... if it's clear, or even a little dodgy... I'm there B)
  8. Are we riding tonight? Looks wet and miserable out there Welcome to Spring
  9. I'm sure I'm gona pick up tan lines on my calves from those bright lights!!!
  10. Nice ride this morning again... just really windy and cold at places. With a 4.20am wakey wakey now I've got to try and stay awake at work for the rest of the day...
  11. A good couple of years ago, coming down Ou Kaapse Weg (the steep side) with a mother of all South easters behind me, in my most aero tuck ever - 94km/h... Had to replce my chamois after seeing that speed
  12. As for aerodynamics - a good mate of mine rode his SL advanced (with "square" tubing to one of the fastest times at IM70.3 in East London last year (in effect a 90km ITT). So it can't be that bad
  13. I've also not heard great things about Fulcrums after sales service... and on Friday read a post about someone not getting great back up from Easton - waited more than 6 months for a rim (and then just had to settle for a different rim make )... I personally use Mavic - have only heard good things about them (but as yet - thankfully - haven't needed their after sales service). my 3.5cents worth
  14. No ways - that's totally offside!!! RED CARD!!! That LBS wouldn't see me again...
  15. I feel your pain... and then also when guys don't add "SOLD" on their adds... anyways, life is gooood B)
  16. I also forgot to mention - my first month in my place I get an account for R500, it's just me and my boys (called Felt and Cannondale) in my pad... when I queried it with PEC they found out they had been charging me industrial rates. WTF??? Needless to say it took them 5 months to pass a credit note to get the thing sorted out. Monkeys!
  17. PEC metering are sharks... you pay a surcharge to them, called an electricity availablity fee or something... and you pay more for your units (they are like the middle man). I hate the concept - what choice do we have if our landlords don't want to put in prepaid meters... F%^$ers!
  18. Sure - see this thread https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/80908-pm-and-bump/
  19. Hi guruJ, Welcome to the hub. It took me ages to figure out what bump meant (I first thought it meant price drop ). Anyhow - "BUMP" usually relates to items in the for sale section. New ads go on top of the list, and if someone hasn't sold their item they just "bump" it to the top of the for sale items list (in the hope of getting more hits). If they get no replies it just gets burried under all the new for sale ads - and then "bump" theirs' to the top of the list again. Hope my explanation helps
  20. My mate uses his specialised transitions TT bike as a road bike at times... he hasn't complained too much about it. So i have no doubt it can be done...
  21. HeartCoppi - the route we've been following over the last few weeks is from CWCycles shop to Wellingtion rd (via Durban rd), then we hammer it all the way to just before the silos where we turn left (on the road towards Philadelphia - spelling???), then a few hundred meters later we turn left onto Occultdale road (a gravel section of +- 7km) which takes us to Adderly rd, we then go left again towards Durbanville, but then we take another left onto SpesBona (+-6km of gravel) back towards Wellington rd... from there we ride back to Durbanville/Bellville... Sorry, but I don't have a map for you
  22. Hectic pace in the 18:30 group last night... 2 hours of intense riding - who needs killarney
  23. Clint, try Jappie @ Union Cycles in Brackenfell - he did a frame for my Dad a few years ago...
  24. Awesomeness... see you guys tonight
  25. Did our first ride this morning... it was very chills... and yes, very dark too. But a nice route (I did +-65km, 6km from home to where we meet up), and nice to get a quality workout before the graft begins. Looking forward to next week already!
