  1. I'll most likely get shot for this, but so be it. And let me start off by saying I don't condone the actions of the runners that led way to the thread (you all know which one) I'm talking about. But I looked though some of those comments and thought to myself do I really want to be associated with this? There are comments much along the lines of motorists throw at cyclists on News24. And now the same guys saying "share the road" and "we have rights" get all aggro and insulting about runners on their tracks. Like I said, I don't approve of the runners actions, but there are limits. Put the boot on the other foot and think how you'd react in reversed roles. So in short - Matt, this is high time.
  2. Force India - actual unveiling/launch... Don't think it looks too bad. Still a stub of a nose, at least not the hideous efforts most teams had last year. All those channels on the front wing is quite... interesting. In all propability the front wing and it's elements and detail will still change many times even before the first GP!
  3. I know they've picked up CNN sponsorship as well. But hopefully an improvement on last years dreary look (and performance).
  4. Also had great fun at the Resolution Trail run on Delvera. Hot, but awesome! Shoes were great. Vibes were superb, really had a jol. Did not stay long afterwards, but there were a fair bit more people than the previous time I ran there (early Dec). Oh, and managed to bring my time down nicely over the same route, so very happy! Maybe most of that was due to me feeling a bit more comfortable with the idea of running and esp trail running.
  5. In my limited experience - it may also be exactly what Raab is suggesting - that you're "forced to" run a bit more front-foot than on road, esp if it was a bit more technical and you use the muscles more than you're used to, esp if there was some lateral jumping about, etc.
  6. Lekker man, it's raining a bit! At least not dusty trails for tomorrow's Resolution run at Delvera! Holy cow - are you guys having to pay 160 for short race up there?!
  7. Also use 1080's on road, will have a look into those as well some time. I contemplated the 1020's (or something like that) Leadville's, but same as with the other Salomons - hardly any tread. Those (790?) look much better! So you're saying I'll most likely start sweating from my feet first! My run this weekend was in a VERY hot Wellington. But not very long - was sub-10 k's - felt okay ito heat. Will just have to grin and bear it, so used to getting warm that it may (hopefully) fade into the rest of it. This weekend's race on Delvera will be a 13 or so (and likely hot again!). Here also - fit was great and drop (9 mm) similar to the 1080's.
  8. Okay, so I went for the SpeedCross 3 option. Took it for a short run after my ride this Sat... Wow, now I know why I wanted trail shoes! It was super, addressed exactly what I wanted! Felt like I had 4x4. Will heed Waveduke's advise and not use them for the days where I have too much tar to do. I also tried on something else, can't remember the model (also Salomon). Looking at it, it had less tread on than even my road running shoe. But I assume better foot protection. In the end I thought... heck, even if I do run off the knobs on the Speedcross, it will be the same as or better than this... but those would be the ideal across the mountain and some tar, but nothing technical shoes. But it will still slip on the same places I do now. Very happy, also hitting Delvara this weekend!
  9. Thanks Sniffie! I love her to bits... Everybody is obviously performing about the puppy, but she my remains "my big girl". Started taking her out for jogs now as well, since she's now old enough. And she loves it! Also doubt whether our house will ever be without one again.
  10. Brandi is a chocolate lab, yes. But a male... Kahlua (the ridgy) is the she. I expect that she'll be protective of her new playmate/-thing. Then again, if it's on a day where he's pesting her too much, she may hand him over for a scratch behind the ear... Got him from Bonnievale. Can send you detail if you want... But strangely - I've seen a LOT (relatively) of them of late.
  11. Thanks Uni. Ja, we've got a bit of a "food name" theme going on. Previously had golden labs named Fudge and Cheddar. The brown dogs initially posed a bit of a problem, but it all ended well. Okay, Nugget was an exception. But you have a black lab puppy and I took one look and said "Nugget?" and my wife agreed that there's no other name. (And no it was not based on a burnt KFC effort...)
  12. A bit hot in Paarl for Kahlua... But she's got a new interest! Yip, the new puppy has arrived. Chocolate lab. Hubbers, meet Brandi (at home at the right places!) Some more shots... Playtime! Too much of which, leads to....
  13. Ja, went wandering through some shops to check out the options. Some of the shoes are hectically treaded, way too severe for my use. Then some others are studded, but looks like almost less aggro than my road shoes. But seems protection is also beefed up on trail shoes, so it will be the way to go sooner or later. For now, my road shoes will have to grin and bear it and I'll just pitch up with dusty shoes on road runs as well... Waveduke, I am intending to just run to the trails, not do lots of road running on it. But that will vary from 2-10k per run. Bugger, just saying that made me realise how far I've actually come since starting running this winter, sounding blase over 10k run to get to -or from- the dirt! A 10k was a dream not too long ago.
  14. Lekker thread this! I just asked in the other running thread about trail running shoes - presuming this will be a much better place to ask. For starters, when do you feel one should get a pair of trail running shoes as well? My road shoes is quite (in my limited knowledge) aggressive ito thread. But the moment I'm hitting anything loose-ish, I just spin. So seriously starting to think about getting a pair. Started running in the mountain (Paarl mountain) recently and simply loving it! But my other question - how well do they last on tar? I do have a couple of k's to the mountain on the closest entrance to me - and have to run across most of Paarl to get to the other entrance (or return from there).
  15. Wow, super shot, Wil6! Condolences, DaVinci... know where you are at this stage.
  16. I can think of some people who impulsively slapped their screens at seeing your pets, nathrix!
  17. Pre-heated shirt! You should be thankful...
  18. This is a part of may I call it modern-day society that completely peeves me. Why does everything need to be over-analysed and reviewed and fingers pointed? This blame game culture really gets me fired up. Don't get me wrong, I am as sad and upset as anybody about what happened. This tragedy happened. Learn from it and improve if and where required. No need for a truth and reconciliation committee. Seems I'm in a Monday mood on a Friday...
  19. This McLaren circus around their driver line-up and surrounding power struggles are just becoming more and more ridiculous.
  20. Kahlua taking this tanning thing seriously... With the new pup a couple of weeks from arrival she must enjoy the lazy days whilst they're still there!
  21. Really like that there's a driver willing to do both disciplines in the same year in this day and age, haven't seen that in a while! I understand that he's doing the series - or have I misread it and he's only doing Le Mans itself? Jaaa... but that was par for the course in the beginning of this year for everybody. Hope that Honda sort their sheet. Then again, I won't mind seeing Alonso (if that is where he is going, as seems to be the consensus) getting a bit of humble pie if his comments have been correctly conveyed by the press. (Bugger me, it's Friday and I'm more diplomatic than a Great Dane at a cat conference...) Awesome prize that, SK!
  22. Good to hear, Latent! Kudu steak...? Do you want to ride over my toe as well? I'll bring beers...
  23. Ja, so Mattiacci's first real decision is to fire himself...?!
  24. Said it earlier, not a fan but Hamster deserved it. Having that season robbed by double points season finale (hopefully a once-off...) would have been a joke. Kudo's for Nico not wanting to retire the car.
  25. This is utter BULL... pun unintentional. I was watching the onboard coverage in quali yesterday and saw the Williams front wing. Thought to myself hoooly cow, if THAT is flexing to gain aero advantage, what is?! But maybe they've gone slacker on that rule now. Shrugged my shoulder and moved on... just to see now Red Bull has been disqualified from qualification for flexing wings! And that after the whole world could see how the Williams wing sections (pretty sure it was a Williams) closed up as it gained speed and then as they braked and the air unloaded them, they opened up the gap again! Likewise Lotus wing flexed a fair bit (up and down) - and again, this was shown on a replay - whilst hitting a curve. The commentators ooo and aaah-ed about the sparks, but there was a lot of up and down movement. Okay, Lotus needs all the help they can get, but still... And for that matter, I'm pretty darn sure half the field should then start from the back of the grid. Maybe that's Bernie's evil plan for the race - just disqualify the Mercs last so they can battle through everybody! Anyways, I just find it crazy that one team gets klapped for something the world could see on their tellies that other teams are also doing something similar. (Not sure exactly what interpretation of flexing wing they've been hit with, but both cases were clearly evident.)
