  1. Taxing the memory banks here, but I seem to remember I saw some Bridgedale socks at Runner's Rest. And since you're innie Bos...
  2. The click-clack on my Anthem was exactly the first suggestion. Saddle & seatpost combo. Take off/out, clean, re-tighten everything... sorted. They're very quick to replace linkage bearings etc - test by hunting the clack sound. Press down on saddle vs press down on top tube tube to recreate sound.
  3. Pieter, I can't wait... sitting with a slight Achilles niggle and suspect it is (contrary to popular belief!) from running in shoes with too much drop. And not biomechanically (I know that "should be better" on the Achilles), I suspect the heels are irritating my Achilles - not chafing, just pressing. Slickandtyred, if that comment regarding feet width was for me - thanks, but I do not have wide feet at all. That said - my now tired NB road shoes are still my favorites. Plenty wide... but not required.
  4. Justr bit the bullit and ordered my TrailFreaks as well. Talk about giving the forefoot some attention! At least the medics will be able to spot the shoes! Camouflage is not quite the word to describe the colour...
  5. Was a great run, wasn't it?! Really enjoyed it and the general vibe. I may get ahead of myself, but next time I'll seed myself in B. Even in a relaxed state of mind (fortunately!) the congestion got to me. And there I was thinking I'm cautious running downhills. And some girls in front having a lekker chat whilst strolling up the stairway, bugger anybody behind them... Haha, my biggest "moment" was on the last bit of that final stretch down to the TM. Had a huge slide on one of those mossed clay banks, kept upright by pushing against the fencing on the inside. (Later on thought that if a finger went through a hole it would have been rather bloody painful with the speed we were going at!) Great fun, I'm looking forward to La Capra (Fairview) now... Well, first I must survive the Cape Town Peace trail.
  6. Strangely enough, Red Berry CF works for me, but I tend to like Marathon in natural Citrus. And on the other side of the sweetness spectrum, the Passion Fruit Marathon isn't half bad either! However, Cream Soda, which was super delicious in the "old" Classic Energy, did not translate well when they made it in Marathon!
  7. Also entered for that - gonna be kick-azz! Did it last year as well, which was my first "run" ever! I reaaaally hope the Mitchells guys will be back...
  8. Nope, will look out for it. Did watch that Trail tv, featuring the Addo run and some race in Germany. From guys running topless to snow gear in the blink of an eye! Addo looks a beautiful area, never been there.
  9. Ja, same here... no idea what to expect, but will have to drop in a while before the start to collect numbers, I presume. Do they start in batches with a gap between - or just "deeper in from the start-line" type seeding and everybody goes off together? Seeded myself in C and will see what happens from there - my first (and only) of the series, so if I seeded myself incorrectly, I will learn from it! If it's too low a seeding, at least the first couple of k's are open. Not expecting much ito times, just running to be running.
  10. Anybody else doing the TaalMonument run this weekend? Part of the Spur Winter Series. Entered on a whim for the longer one (appr 14k), will just go for the jol, since it's close to TB and will still go for a lekker ride on Saturday.

    Formula 1...

Great race. Absolutely loved it all, bar the Hulkenberg incident. Ironically, I was thinking when Hamster pulled that move on Massa that he'd never have avoided the collision the way Massa did had he been the car on the inside... some laps later, his bullying tactics backfired. Was also grimacing at how he (allegedly such a smooth driver) kept locking wheels on warm-up behind the pace car. Pity about Kimi getting the bad luck - a 1-2 for Ferrari followed by 3-4 for RB would really have had a nice ring to it!
  12. We've ridden there a couple of times, but just went for a quick run over lunchtime up into Eden... WOW! Huuuuge fun! Esp coming down.
  13. Blixem, check the head on that boikie! En daai poooote! Lovely dog - same with Becca!
  14. Hey, daar's maar min kilo's op daai vivo's van jou - hoe kan jy al klaar gepraat wees? Of is jy moeg?! PS - but those trailfreaks of dee does seem like an awesome shoe as well...
  15. Koei, is that the Sense Pro? I had a pair (blue) in my hands the other day and looks like a kick-azz shoe. Would love some feedback! The other thing I'm considering is the Peregrine, but the tread is about as aggressive as the Speedcross...
  16. Stunner of a pup, Riaan! But one day when he's big, he's gonna get you back for posting public pics of him on a pink blankie... Or maybe that's what the shoes was about already!
  17. How long do you guys take to tune up the dogs to running fitness? My ridgey runs all day every day with serious naps inbetween... but when running with me the wheels comes off rather quickly. I am gradually building up her running - maybe it's better to actually run her in the mountain so she gets even more distraction - and variety in terrain? And no, she's not 6 months! Almost 3 years, so everything is settled ito hips and elbows, etc. I only started running with her every now and then recently and has been very gradual in the build-up. She's up to about 4 k's of road running now. But maybe I'm just overly cautious - after all, they're bred to run!

    MotoGP

Easy to look all cool and composed when everything is going your way. Suddenly when the heat is on, there is pressure. You can't always just answer pressure by blowing it away. Sure he'll learn more from this season than from last. However, I think if he had taken Lorenzo out yesterday, there would have been a sheet-storm of note. Thanks SK, was about to ask about the Doohan comment... he never seemed overly arrogant to me. Oh, on top of everything else - loved the fact that the Suzi's were in the mix as well.

    Formula 1...

Loved the race as usual... well done to the Porsche guys. And it was so great to see everybody in good spirits and Audi and Toyota guys all smiley and congratulating them. Hulk now has at least become the first active F1 driver in more than 20 years to win. Really felt for that #98 Aston, soooo close... 2-lap lead - oops!
  20. They are stunning, tuna!
  21. Just to say - I had an awesome run this past Saturday. Met up with a guy for the first time and we did a very nice run in Paarl Mountain. Some known trails, some exploration, some places I knew about but haven't been to yet. Was great... Picked up a bit of a funny on my heel, but that's hopefully just a short-term issue. The overall experience more than made up for it!
  22. Save yourself the wait, save yourself the bribery... Google is your friend.
  23. Saw a piece on the trails there in trail running mag as well - itching to go do that as well! Same trails, different speed... And less hassle (packing) if we pop over there just for a weekend.
  24. Flowta, I currently have both my lab (puppy) and Ridgey on Eukanuba. Different food for the puppy still, but that works well thusfar. Not much difference in price, though - and when I bought last time, they told me the price is going to increase like crazy shortly. I feed them that - and I keep an eye on them to make sure they stay lean. And esp easy to see on the Ridgey - she is just one bundle of muscles. And to shoot down that rumour, she has been spayed.
  25. Hahaha, is it (sounds like!) one of those "easy 6k" runs with 600m elevation?!
