  1. Oh look - we have daylight in Paarl as well... albeit fading at the time.
  2. There's already a bunch of similar sites. Strava, Endomondo, MapmyRide, RidewithGPS... the list goes on. Oh, and Garmin (dis-)Connect (Tankman-ism...). If you want to still do it, then why not just utilise the Routes section - it's already there. Why re-invent the wheel?
  3. There's bugger-all over-rated on the one on the left! You'll be sweet for a year! Or are my under-supplemented (it seems from this thread!) eyes deceiving me?!
  4. Garmin forums are generally just a beaching session. Very little people goes to a support forum to say they're happy... So take everything you read there in that light.
  5. Yeah, mine was also around 3 when she started off on pedal bike. I got her used to going without wheels a bit later with the slight downward slope balance idea, where she could just put her foot down. But that's another bridge on another day...

    DC Team

Doubt it, suspect that weekend may (again) cross swords with family commitments... Depends on the dates (of the family stuff, yet to be finalised) in the end - hoping to do either DC or Hell and Back. Really won't mind doing another DC, it's a great experience!

    Formula 1...

Hmmmm... Suspect Button and Vettel will be in the front of the queue to disallow HRT at the slightest chance! Perez drove a stunning race. Alonso did brilliantly... and I expect Massa to be looking over his shoulder seriously now! But the best for me - Vergne staying out on inters whilst people are spinning off on full wets! Dud of the day is (AGAIN!!) leaving it too late to restart the racing! WTF?! Here you have the supposed 22 best drivers. You keep them under red due to rain - which was a fair call initially. But then leave them standing around and then circling being a safety car so that by the time the SC comes in, everybody want to go on inters! Why the heck do they then even bring full wets to the races?!
  9. It look cool... but ... ehhhrrr... where's the red?! You have to look to realise it's a GB kit!
  10. Ja, seems that's about the only version available in the country at this moment... Good to hear you got sorted!

    Formula 1...

Hopefully now everybody can change their cars' noses...?! Not a McLaren fan, but never been so happy to see one win! That was the way I interpreted the rule changes as well - could not understand why everybody else went for these hideous stepped noses.
  12. FWIW - my drop on road bike is almost exactly the same (having done a setup). MTB is less. What was it on your old bike? How did you ensure your saddle is at the correct height when you transferred it? (Meaning - what did you measure or did you mark the seatpost or what did you do?) As stated above: seat height (and setback) is critical...
  13. Any Specialized dealer should have an "ass-o-meter" - basically just a rubber pad where you sit on and measures the width of your sit-bones. Nothing high-tech. A slight conversion is done on that figure to see which width would suit you best. Also nothing mystical, it's available from the Spez site. First place I walked in measured it and also had some test saddles - but that's down here in the shadow of the mountains.
  14. I sort-of think I used a different term... or two. Oh and PS - thanks a stack to the guy from (I think...?) Omnico that tried to help me. Said they had a stalletjie and explained where, but try as I might, I could not find it! Even offered to give me the chain and call me afterwards to sort out the finances. After that I was so gatvol/bed*nnird/disappointed that I just "steamed" my way back to the WF... esp. having gotten my hopes up again - because since I didn't even cross the timing mats, I could simply join another group.
  15. Get your sitbones measured and then test-ride both, if both are still applicable. I was on SI saddle on my roadbike, but my mtb saddle was killing me. Went for measurement and found that I needed a 143 width saddle. tested the Phenom 143 and it is great for me. Now my road saddle, which I previously did many many many k's on, incl the DC without hassles gives me serious comfort issues, just having gotten used to the Phenom.
  16. Dude, let me help you out of your misery - "Race done" and "came in" does not belong together. On the other hand... if you have your earliest start yet, it's a great day and you're in good shape, to break the record for the shortest ever Argus is very likely mine. Got going, group was flying out the blocks and as I shifted over to the big blade before the bridge (the 1st one your ride underneath!), I heard my chain being thrown off. So I shout chain, try to pick it up with the deraileur, nothing... Coasting on momentum under the bridge I go to the side as the group goes past and realise... stuuupid, you shifted up, so somehow the bl**dy chain dropped to the outside, of course. Not likely, but sheet happens... So no luck other than stopping and putting the chain back on. Look down to confirm, coasting all the while... only to see no chain! Looking back, I could not even see the thing. THAT's what you call "race done" - I did not even make the first timing mats! Stopped after the bridge and began the walk back to the Waterfront. Was back in Paarl in time to see the elites finish.

    Argus Expo

Whaat?! No Spez...? That was one of my missions for the day, to find the Spez stall and chat about some stuff.
  18. Getting a new 'smarter' CP shortly and want to get some info upfront. What I want to know is what is the best app to use for when I want the mrs to be able to be follow me on the interweb/her phone? And which is best on batteries/data usage? (Maybe can be set to only transmit every x minutes.) Three options I can think of is Endo, Mapmyride and I think Strava also has a CP app. I obviously also don't want something where the world can see where I'm at... I know e.g. Endo you can set to show map only to your friends - the others? And I do ride with a Garmin, so this won't be for training as such, just the ability for my wife to know more or less where I am.
  19. All stocked up... have 2. Only use 1 during a normal road race...
  20. Those bars are awesome! Love the way they textured it. You can breath in (gasping, I think it's called in my case) without choking on a random piece of granola or something being sucked down. Love it!
  21. ...and you keep going with the "line"...

    Argus MTB 52km

Skouer is issie so erg soos my kop issue nie! Hierdie roadie het gisteraand neergewetter terwyl hy klim(!!) oor 'n paar los klippies - juis daardeur gery om gemakliker te raak met die idee! Hoe's daai nou vir 'n confidence builder of note?! Sterkte met daai skouer...
  23. ...and then elevation is not even part of the formula! (Not that my elevations reflect correctly once uploaded on Endomondo - somehow...) No, not suggesting a new challenge, just saying even on my mtb I can do 2 vastly differing 20k's. So why worry about splitting hair - it's for fun anyways! But bugger me, there's people with a lot more time to train out here than me!

Juuust ahead of you in G. Smile and wave as you pass (blue Cannondale, Nedbank kit). Have fell off the training bus or something, not feeling all that well the last couple of weeks. Just hoping not to get sick.
