    Longer Stem?

Agreed with above, longer stem will get you further forward, but will be even more sluggish. If you can, removal of a spacer (dropping the bar) will also accomplish what you want. But this may take you out of an optimal hip angle... Worth a try though, instead of investing in stems. This was recently done to my bike and handles extremely differently! Sure-footed and downright nippy when the footing is solid. I still have to get used to when it's loose gravel beneath the front wheel... it's a little "nervous" then - but just some riding style adjustment (or maybe just a mental adjustment?!) required to nail that as well.
  2. What miffs me is that you can't buy anything else on their website but Epic stuff... which I don't want for exactly the above reasons.
  3. I just klapped a couple of extra Viral Choice's for good measure and did not train during that mid-week. Was back on the bike the weekend thereafter and all systems go. Absolutely no worries.

...and Ferrari's woes continues. Have to agree - great for Lotus. Pity about the Mercs stuffing up quali - esp for Schu. It looked up untill that point as if Nico had everybody's number again. And bravo for Di Resta pulling off a 2-stopper on a track where it was not supposed to have worked, let alone gaining you heaps of places. And both Williamses did have to go belly-up for the first time, seems I've jynxed them by complimenting them. Again more racey moments... like it!
  5. I have either the Pro or the Comp MTB, I suspect the Comp... Not top of range but a genuine awesome shoe and the price was not bad at all.
  6. In the end I went to Renay - unfortunately could not work something out with Liné. Some interesting changes, some quite counter-intuitive for the niggles I was having - but the feeling is so much more natural now, handling better... happy chappie! Really looking forward to see what will happen this weekend on some longer rides. Been Ergofit fan before, now it's starting to become part of bike religion for me.

    Formula 1...

Always been like that - esp the designers! Even in the late 60's and 70's - why do you think (for one) Colin Chapman is regarded as a legend?! He thought outside the box even in the 'early days' and created the (real) Lotus legend. Before that somebody thought of the wacky idea to gain advantage by adding wings to these cigar boxes - that sure wasn't a driver... The real stuff-up comes with the rules trying to slow them down. Then loopholes are found... and that's where all the legal BS comes in. I think James Hunt (correct me if I'm wrong!) used to say, and this became a Murray-ism, that the driver is the most important nut in the car - he's just the nut behind the wheel. Think back to the championships and you'll see a lot of them has simply driven the technology before somebody else had them, it's not only the current era. Now it's just getting a bit obvious, esp with improved coverage.

    Formula 1...

It's been re-okay'ed (after the formal protest from Lotus pre-China GP) and several teams are now looking at incorporating the double F-duct. The first of those being Lotus - so I presume their 'protest' was just to make sure they're not wasting resources persuing an option that may be outlawed.

Oh, and one of the other great things for me to see thusfar this season is that Williams are (somewhat) in the mix. Saddened me to see them perform so bad last season.

    Formula 1...

Hopefully the Merc's rubber abuse problems are now at an end and not just due to the track characteristics. At least then we'll have another team getting in there and stirring the pot a little. Well done Nico! Great ride - and I think he'd have held off Button even without his pit slip-up. 3 races, 3 different winners... When last could we even say that?! And that despite the Hamster not having had his turn yet - despite looking blindingly fast at all 3 tracks - and no RB's victories. I think both of those parties will still deliver.
  11. I have to agree with Mojoman and Skyler - those of us who DO obey the rules are in the minority. But do to these idiots' conduct, we are endangered every time we leave home on a bike. But my feeling is every bit helps and even get the odd smile and over the weekend a thumbs up from motorists for actually stopping.
  12. Had mine yesterday. Maybe bad timing, after long weekend of riding and the mrs also being ill. But what the heck, done and now I pop the vit's for a day or two to try and prevent that I fall victim.
  13. Yeah - I had two must-do rides on my list for now... this one and the 100-miler. My luck, they're on the same day.
  14. Does this beat some guys I saw recently... wearing the top of their bibs OVER their cycling shirts?!

Have to agree with Speedracer. Get in there and cling on. Not only will a group pull you along (aerodynamically) - but it will also (more importantly) motivate you to go harder in order not to loose them. You'll get home, having wheelsucked, with higher HR's than on hard solo training rides, just because there was something tangible to chase.
  16. From all of this I've just deducted that I'm the laziest around. By sheer coincidence I washed and lubed the bike Sunday afternoon.
  17. Thanks Renay - the only reason I haven't contacted you yet is purely location, as mentioned above... (Getting to CWC is do-able by just leaving early one day, getting to southern suburb, half a day's leave...) Will send you an email shortly for some more info so we can decide on the best solution. Ever since I got back on the mtb, some things just weren't quite right and have been contemplating it for a while now. Initially thought it was just adjustment from road bike, but still the same pains every ride points to something else.

@Wannabe: agreed. Like I said in my previous post, I misunderstood the group doing the ride.

Oh, I thought this was for the "social team" - and then noted the pace later, which is where the "warning" came from - esp since some people indicating they're inexperienced. We often do it the other way around to get past that problem, thus getting Bains out the way early. Can be fun at the Slanghoek section if the SE is rearing it's head, though... But hey, good training if the wind's like it was this year when you turned left at Robertson! But then again, we've been blown to bits on the way to Slanghoek turnoff from DuToit's side 1st as well...

Just a quick note - 23-25 is not "slow" for this route, esp for those who haven't done it yet. (Edit: and by that I'm not saying no nothing about anybody specifically - just saying, it takes some trapping to even get to a 23 ave, esp if the wind does not play along on the day.) And do ride carefully (and keep it single-file?) up Bains, since I see the plan is to that last. And with a 7 start, that means it'll be busy on that narrow piece of road by the time you/we arrive. (Oh, and I am very tentative on this one - still not sure what the w/e plans are...)

    Me tooo... tentatively?
  22. Anybody know who does Ergofit setups in CT area other than Dr Swart and Renay Goustra? I have done it at Dr Swart - both road and mtb. Very happy. Of late I have been getting some niggles and just wanted to dial it in again. Pretty sure the body's also changed a bit with... growing maturity (who me?!) (And yes, it's been a couple of years since they were done. But Jeroen is usually booked way in advance - even way back then. I know Renay Goustra is also doing it, but also in the Southern Suburbs - which will entail me having to take half a day's leave for this. Does anybody know of anybody doing this more towards the northern suburbs/Boland area? Or are those my only options?

No mixing allowed once you've passed the Engen on the N1... Pick a vintage and roll with it. B)
  24. Just looked right to snap on Sat's ride - stood out nicely. Again, obviously CP only...
  25. Ja sorry, I tend to go mtb'ing without dragging the Canon and lenses along! Many a time I was thinking "If only..." Only had the cell there, best I could do... Actually got a couple in a GP car taking photo's earlier in the trip - hope they remained long enough to capture this! Pink was really vivid, esp from where I was seeing it out of the darkness. Still, at least those moments are captured in the mind. If I sat on the couch, I never would've experienced it. But yeah, I should get my lazy azz up there with the camera and take some decent shots sometimes.
