Silverback bikes are usually very good value for money and you should be able to find one in that price range. Can't seem to find any online so you'll need to check with some local bike shops.

I just bought a Titan Comp.

Its made by merida.

Here is a pic.

Hydraulic Tektro brakes, Suntour Shock.

I am really happy with it,

I picked it up for R4k brand new from Cajees.

The tires are different in real life...they are Maxxis tyres with Alex rims.

If I had a budget of 6k, I would first check the classifieds. Also take someone knowledgeable with you when going to view used bikes.

In the 6K range I would take the bike with the best components.

We can assume this bloke/chick knows nothing about MTB's never mind components .

Since I will only allow Shimano equiped bikes into my bike room I can only give you spec levels on that for DT .

So you get

Alivio - Donno if it is bottom of the range but it is fairly low . Shifters and RD bit dodgy , blades will last forever , heavy .

SLX - Value for money , durable , I luv them

XT - More expensive , lighter than above .

XTR - For race snakes and sponsored riders . Light , don't last .

This will be for you drive Train .

The same goes for the brakes but the other products I have tested worked just as well

Shocks you need to give the hubbers a list of whats on the bikes and they will tell you .

Rims - they can ALL bemade tubeless so it not an issue .

What size are you?

http://www.thehubsa....team-hard-tail/

008 Felt RXC Team Mountain Bike

008 Felt RXC Team Mountain Bike

Size: Medium 17,5"

Brakes:Juicy 7

Shifters: Shimano Deore

Fork: Manatou Scareb (air) shock

Front derailleur : XT

Front Crank: XT

Wheels: 26" Mavic 317 with DT Swiss Hubs

Handle bar and stem: Raceface & Raceface XC Riser

SRAM RED Cassette 9 Speed

Rear stays are carbon

I really want to get me a 29er or a newer model full sus.

Price is NEG(slightly) Bike recently serviced.....

R5500.00 neg.

If this bike was well looked after then this is big bang for the buck.

only thing I would change is the shifters to XT.
