Unfortunately its around that region. I have just been stung R1200+ for a Fox fork and shock for my trail bike...So thats why I will be buying the parts and tools next time to do it myself!

Learn how to do it yourself. It is realively easy, especially on a Tora.

What you pay depends on what is replaced during the service. If the seals are replaces, expect to pay about R280 more than just labour and oil. I'd say a service with oil and seals and crush washers and O-rings would set you back about R620. A bit less on a Tora since there is bugger all inside.

JB, which "oil" are you using these days for Fox forks (lower legs not damper)?

Still mixing?

No, the lowers get standard 10Wt, I never mixed that, as far as I can remember. What day is this again?

Besides, don't be so crude. You mix concrete but when it comes to the finer things in life like wine and fork oil you blend it.

Shaken, not stirred.

The topic of servicing suspension forks is religeous religious and should be banned from the hub!

I was not aware that religion was banned from The Hub, I thought it was banned from Tech Q&A? :P  :D :)

R750 bucks to service a Tora is a rip off. DIY dude.

Am busy respraying lowers, then am going to try post a step by step once I have assembly pics. (If JB does not beat me to it.)

I think it is about time. This topic crops up once every two weeks.

Nothing to it, nothing in it either, but air and some ali bits. Oh, and 'unblended' fork oils.

So i took my fork in for the service. Paid the 750 but unfortunatley it was still buggerd. So I took it back an they did more stuff to it ( sorry i dont know the technical stuff). First service they replaced the rings or something like that and the second time they replaced seals or something. Still the fork did the same. Then i took it to another bike shop. More money and still not fixed.

The problem is that that the fork seems fine at first and has a rebound, but after a couple of km it just sag's and goes to the bottom of the rebound. It only happens on flat terrain and not on the bumpy stuff. When i get of the bike it bounce the fork around it recovers the travel and gies to about 80mm but when it aplly constant pressure it goes to aboit 20mm.

What can be wrong? Is it time for a new fork. Its done about 6000km.

Hmmm

So what did these LBS's say, and did you pay them for the privilege?

Firstly I must assume that this is an air Tora and not the coil version.

Just to add some correction here. The compression side (chamber) is responsible for the sag on the fork. The left hand side.

It sounds like air is leaking from the positive air side, to the negative. This will only happen if the seals are worn, damaged during installation, or alternatively, if the air piston is excessively worn, or the inside of the air tube has been scratched, or is worn, then air will leak through. When the fork is not being excited by 'bouncing up and down' the air will slowly leak through and draw the stanchions down.

Little bit sad to hear that 2 shops have not picked up damage or excessive wear.

Maybe phone Cape Cycle Systems, speak to one of the Mechs, and see what they have to say.

If this is your first service in 6000k, then I suspect you might be looking for another fork.
