 this is a full IM

I know that.

U missed my point. I think you should attempt this if you have done a full IM as the IM course in PE seems to be alot easier than this. I want to do PE before attempting this monster.

Ja I missed your point then.

I thought the IM was only for sissies, why do you want to do the easy stuff first? ;)

Unfortunately I haven't taken part in any major triathlons and those I have done were fairly short. I swam competitively at school but for the last few years have just been cycling. My endurance in cycling has been excellent and I've ridden some strong double centuries.

The thing is I'd like to attempt an event like this when I still have time (I'm a student) and before the rest of life takes over.

To give you some hope, I did Half IM and full IM in 2010 with basically no running. Longest run I did was 15km. IM is all about your goal - just finish or finish well. If you're just looking to finish, you'll be fine with your cycling as is, some swimming (to get use to the distance) and a few focused months of run training.

Yes, you're right (lol) - last Sunday at around 6 or 7pm I swore I'd never do another IronMan & now I'm thinking I might just do this one...

How quickly you forget the pain & just remember the good feelings of competing & finishing.

I believe the Challenge organisation is second only to Kona so I'm sure they'll have all their ducks in a row when it comes to road closure support & the general vibe etc & I'm glad that Paul Woolf's IM has some competition at last - hopefully he'll think twice about using those idiotic race referees next time as well!

Anyway I think Challenge Cape Town will be at least as tough as Gordons Bay in 2001 but well worth doing.

The " idiotic race referees" are individuals who give up their time in order for us to do what we enjoy. With out them we will not have an event. While one or two may implement the rules like little hitlers, I think that you are being unfair to paint them all with the same brush. I am sure that many of them will be approached to assist with challenge Cape Town.

Discount on entry fees if you enter at one of the roadshow events. You'll pay the early bird entry.

Cape Town's roadshow dates wil be at Cycle Lab Westlake 25 July, Northgate Island 26 July and Tygor Manor 27 July starting at 6pm.

Will do my entry there and hope this event doesn't clash with one of the league races.

I see this event has been canned for 2011!

"All athletes registered for Challenge Cape Town can rollover their entry to 2012 and receive a free relay entry for a family member or friend or get a refund.  Dates for the 2012 event are to be confirmed"

What is a relay entry? I am your friend! :D
