So I go down to my local bike shop to purchase a pair of new shoes along with a big chain ring, with a certain budget in mind!!!! and thats when things went very wrong. firstly I got the part description wrong so I was given the incorrect part. but regardless, how can a bike shop charge R1200.00 for a XT Chain ring and R315.00 for the standard Shimano ring, this is simply taking the piss., im not hard pressed to spend cash but when you are blatently ripped off its not on. when are these bike shops going to realise that this kind of thing causes people to import from the likes of crc  I have no more faith in bike shops

Consider it done.

Wait, what? You gave a part description, bought a part, and now its the bike shop's fault that you bought the wrong/more expensive part based on your description? Ok. Well done then.

I know you're upset but you don't seem to have a point.

Do your research and dont buy if you dont like the price.

Why would you have faith in bike shops? They're businesses, not friends.

Take the expensive XT chainring back for a cash refund. It is your right as a consumer.

A plain Deore will work just as well. I had the same dilemma 2 years ago. New XT ring was then exactly R812 at every bike shop. I bought a Deore for R100 and it is still going strong.

That just makes his rant even more baffling. You get some odd fellas out there.

You DO??

I hadn't noticed.

No indication of whether or not the shoes were correct. Your thoughts......
