Did you guys pump rear shock to giant recommended settings, I found I had to pump mine a bit harder. Otherwise it felt a bit squishy on the ups.

Love my X1!!!

I can recommend Crossmark USTs!

Didn't like flat bar too much - 15mm Crank Brothers Cobalt 2 Riser Bars made a difference for me.

Loving my Giant, I have a sliver L frame, also found the bike to be a bit heavy/unresponsive, so changed wheels to Stans ZTR, A2Z hubs, dubble butted spokes, Stan's tubless, Momsen bar ends, KCNC 90mm stem, KCNC seat post, Fzik Gobi saddle - very comfortable, egg beater 3 Titanium, trimmed standard flat bar to 660mm. Huge improvement with handling, from single track to downhill rocky technical stuff. Great bike and very underated in standard form. Total cost of mods +- R8k. Will be fitting 2 x 10 front crank set and carbon bar at some stage. As is bike weighs 11,3kg with pedals.

Try a KCNC scandium bar its about half the price and lighter than a carbon bar, I have truativ world cup bar, only thing is carbon probably might have a better riding feel

about those wheels you got I take it you had them built is that ztr crest?

Yes, ZTR Crest, had them built at Rob - Cyclepro in PE, also used a combination of brass and alloy nipples, apparantly different strengths for breaking forces on spokes etc. Does carbon bar have more flex than scandium?

I wouldn't say flex but a softer feel I paid 650 for a brand new Truativ WC bar slight rise and sweep the best part is the oversize section you can hold on on long flat sections almost like a TT position it gives the arms a rest

looking to get a set of Crests built with Hope hubs

Missus and I been on ours since December 2010. Cannot compare it to the hardtail 26ers before. Wooden bench vs Gomma Gomma.

The 2 bikes replaced the Yorkie as our travel companions!

Never saw any recommendation. If you read up on it, all suspensions is design to work optimally if it has the 10% sag under dead weight only. I am 90kg and was running it too high as you could clearly see that the suspension only used about 60% of the full travel. I am now running it at 90psi front and 190psi rear and it still seams like it can go lower as now it only use 70%. I also found no problem with going softer.

I am 100kg and have mine pumped to about 210psi I found that I was riding with my shock in the lockout/damped position

Once I figured that out it was a soft ride, Agree with Aggies best way is to check how much travel you use when riding also make sure your pump is accurate as possible on lockout I am on 3

The Karkloof single track sections of Jewitt's Jive; The Gauntlet and Voodoo Lounge were awesome atop the 29er this morning. Is there any better single track out there?

What single track would you rate higher?
