Cycle Path mugging

one of our members was mugged near the Culemborg section of the cycle path. this area is resident to a fair amount of homeless people. they got his cellphone and wallet. please be warned.

Where is the Culemborg section?

Ok I googled it. That area is the reason i still ride down the N! part into town and dont use the cycle lane from Paarden Island. At 5 30 in the morning i dont trust it.

I beleive the bus starts up soon as well.

yeah seems the bus service will startup soon. They've been brooming the pink paths, sometime literally by hand. I thuoght the service was meant to start 1 April. Guess i fell for the joke, but anyone know of a proper date? ( I bet it precedes the local elections )

 

Just wish they would the rest of the service up and running thru to Atlantis, so I can ditch my car and just bike to work.

Dennis is a 70 odd year old member of City CC. He rides to Camps Bay every Sunday for a cuppa coffee at the Sandbar and to view the sites. he normally rides with a friend but with the weather as it is today it seems as if he took a chance to go by himself. he is fine apart from a bruised hip and phoned me to warn other members to avoid the area.

nah. cape town always was like this. hell, any place is with similar circumstances. we as a cycling community are just more adept at reporting it now

 

I hope this was reported, so that area can get some attention from the coppers. I know they tried clearing out the informal settlement that seemed to have started up just past the boulevard along the N1 next to the harbor. So it seems the city is willing to do something about it.
