if you are familiar with track cycling then you never take your hands off your handlebars until you have stopped your bike to get off.

one has the feeling after reading all this, that there is alot more to the story than meets the eye. The OP is a manager, the rider has been banned before, parents helping a son go a long way in the sport. Its kinda like 'ol osama.

Imagine if this rider did this in an International event, because this is where he is heading for. Bet we would be proud of him. Is this the type of behavior we want to put out there???

The drongo - thought you had a good long look at the photos -

track etiquette on the Bellville track wrt warming up and training sessions is still a bit dicey (this is when the Wayne Pheiffer incident happened). wp officials are always reminding participants of racing safely on the track. in the Pheiffer jnr / Daniels incident , Daniels lent over and pulled on the handlebars of Pheiffer causing him to fall. Whatever happened prior to that is of no relevance, elbowing and making body contact is acceptable within reason and the fact they were still on their bikes suggests this, if it wasn't reasonable or unsafe then the officials would have made a decision on appeal from a manager (Daniel's manager would have appealed). Daniels took the law into his own hands.

But that's what track is about...no? Seriously, from the three pics I've seen, it looks like he is pushing away a rider who is about to cut into him, rather than pulling someone down.

With the whole Theo Bos - Daryl Impey investigation, one of the UCI rules that stood out very clearly is that a rider is not allowed to take his hands off the handle bar (during the sprint and when bumping into another rider) and most certainly Not place his hands anywhere on another rider or his bike!

Convinced that there is a similar rule on the track

The youngster was wrong and as such should be banned from cycling in total for at least 12 months as it appears he is a habitual transgressor from all the post's one has read.(I am a PDI and prescribe to the development of cycling amongst PDI's)and DO NOT CONDONE SUCH HABITS.

I spoke to some of the particiapnts that were at the event and some cyclists stated that this youngster has an abundance of talent yet he is a ticking timebomb on the bike. Are we to wait for someone to be maimed or killed before proper action is taken against such person. As for his parents they too should be banned from attending any event whilst he is suspended.

CSA should withdraw him from the development squad as he is not a proper ambassador for the sport.

in days gone by u had to qualify to ride champs especially in the timed events and your club and province had to sign off your entry form before sending it onto SACF. not now, u just enter and ride. it was amazing the amount of upcountry riders slid down the banking becos they were riding too slow.

and the true gauteng spirit comes out. Maybe all the guys in CT are really just softies on the inside. The first rule in racing is "do unto others, before they do unto you". Simple equation, either he falls or you fall. For everynes safety rather let him fall in the first few km's of the race.

I don't know what is fine with grabbing soeones handlebar taking him out for the event??? I am sorry I was not taught this way and I believe loads will agree....if you can't beat him, train harder so next time you can beat him, but very uncalled for behaving like a complete spitefull tjop...I hope this dude actually reads this posts so he can see what people think of him......

The rider have been banned before and is banned again for 3 months.

For sorting him out: about 2 years ago one guy sorted him out, and the next Sunday he was in the news paper for being a racist, his parents wrote an article.

After he cause the crash at the SA's, the people wanted to bliksem him, but he stopped in the banking, threw his bike over the fencing and ran away.

The race before that one, he also got DQ for dangerous riding. When the official went to chat to him, he threw his bike on the floor followed by his helmet and swore at the official.

His dad needs a big old 'SNOT KLAP'.....ai such a disgrace to South African Track Cycling....i am sure someone who wanted to start track cycling was so put off now they will never.....because of this irrisponsible development piece of....wait....I will rather not write any more....

some riders are taught to win at all costs from a young age. there were u16 riders who had medaled in SA's in the 1st 3 days who all of a sudden rolled out at gear checks. someone was a bit suspicious and asked that the official at gear checks be changed and lo & behold some rider's bikes who had previously rolled in now rolled out. the sad part is that these riders were then left to their own devices by their parents/coaches to now go and beg other participants for sprockets/blades.

Well acording to the Cape Times today a high school kid got injured due to dangerous and illegal manoeuvre during a scrum..he sued the opposing player and won...damages estimated to be millions....so sue the brat and he will think twice next time...!

What a chop. Agree with TNT here the cyclists must sort this out because the kid will not learn anything from this because he is clearly going to get away with this, due to 'politics' which is absolute bulls@#t. The rider who broke his collar bone father was also taken out in another race (Wayne Pheiffer) and also broke his collar bone. Its pathetic that nothing gets done about things like this because it just gets worse from here.

You are clearly a PE boy, base your opinion on what is right not on who you know! you are soft, and shouldnt take part in any sport where there is a chance of being injured!

thats my opinion!

get a life!
