I still cannot understand why these guys go to so much trouble to make bikes and parts lighter when the UCI minimum weight is 6.8km.

Unless you are only training on this bike, it cannot be used in races.

'Why so light, you might ask, especially since the UCI continue to enforce a minimum complete bike weight limit of 6.8kg (15lb). For amateur riders unconstrained by the governing body's regulations there are clear benefits, but there are advantages for WorldTour racers too. "It affords the [team] riders the ability to run SRMs [powermeters] all the time," Chris Peck, Cannondale’s vice president of R&D, told BikeRadar. "They also like to use alloy handlebars." '

The next time I'm in G group for the 45km race and there is someone with one I'm gonna appeal.

add weight in the seatpost, you get those little weights, or inside the fork,etc...distribut it through the frame...

you get a special bolt that you can add lead blanks on and it slides into the crank axle. It's the lowest and best place to add weight.

I really really like this frame.Internal rear der and brake cable

Yeah, was just being funny. :D

What a beauty this is!

I weigh 74 kg. It'll work for me!

I also weigh 74kg's. With this bike I wouldn't have to eat any less, and drop to the equivalent of 72,5 kg's.

From bikeradar.com:

Cannondale have made something special for the team, however: a range of precisely calibrated, plastic coated, steel slugs that they use to bring the weight of the new bike up to the UCI limit. They've even made slugs to account for the different weights of the wheelsets the team use, so that they can always be at the limit and not over.

We spent two days on the bike riding in the hills around Torino, Italy. But this was no production model – instead it was a ‘launch spec’ EVO outfitted with components from the Liquigas-Cannondale team sponsors.

The first thing you notice when you’re presented with the SuperSix EVO is its weight. Our 54cm test bike weighed just 13.46lb (6.11kg) without pedals. The bike feels light in hand and similarly light on the road, especially when you stand up and flick it around.

So, how do the professionals like Nibali get it to legal weight - add 1.85 kgs of what?

This is how they do it.add some weight to the seat tube ;)
