I have been watching alot of Mountain Biking Videos. The downhill seen overseas is Huge. Then there are and what I also Liked alot was the races, ranging from DH, Singletrack and a circuit where you go head to head. Why dont we have this here? We seem to have alot of XC events, and most of our trails are focused around XC. Why dont we have any Singletrack specific trails or events?

Go look on Dirtopia's website for their "Single Track Sunday" event.

Last Saturday there was a Dual Slalom race at the Dirtopia Festival at Delvera (Stellenbosch) - huge fun!

Sunday there was an All Mountain Gravity race (downhill for beginners) at the same venue.

Just keep your eyes peeled - also watch the Gravity section on this forum - there is a lot more happening than you think, but it doesn't get splashed in the media because far fewer people do these disciplines, compared to the marathons.

Cool, thanks for the heads up. I need to make a way out there. I have been there once, but didnt enjoy it. Though I think that there is alot more people that are into gravity riding, but because there is no media hype no one is actually aware of these events

We have one such event.......... Mankele Avalanche! It is awsome........ It is a race, DH start, all on single track approx 7km, and dropping 600m with 20m acent on average. Time to complete a run is approx 14 - 20 min. You have 3 runs, 2 on the saturday and one on the sunday, times get added to determine places. Try it you will love.....

 I'll second Pappa Bear. The Ghost Mankele Avalanche is happening in 2 weeks time (9+10 July). Best trail riding event on the calendar, loads of fun, awesome atmosphere, not too big and unpersonal (even the organisers themselves take part), open to everyone and did I mention the BEST trails!!! see you there

Bryce Munro won it on a Scalpel, 100mm front/80mm rear travel I think

But then again he is not human, 140mm should be best for most

Did part of the course on my hardtail as part of the 3 towers - think I could have walked faster :P

You gonna need your breaks. We've bermed those 3 tight corners on stage3, so is now super fast!
